Prot Holo performs like it has a hack program

Prot Holo is way too strong. There has been many OP builds in the past, but Prot Holo is busting the standard mold of even broken builds. It has many advantages over other builds that are so large that it reminds of other games I have played where players turn on hacks that triple their stats or grant them crazy wacky abilities such as, instantly reviving themselves as soon as they are downed and should be dead.

How was this overlooked in the recent patch update?

Overlooked might not be the right word. I actually haven't seen a prot Holo in ranked queue since the patch. Mostly explosives. Prot Holo wouldn't take Elixir R btw.

Prot Holo might still be the way to go in AT's and coordinated 5 mans, but generally speaking you're gonna wanna play Explosives for ranked (or Thief/Rev)

I was in a match on coliseum yesterday when people were saying a nerco was instantly reviving themselves and that it was hacking... I just had to remind them that it was using the shield pickup.. are you sure the holos you speak of aren’t doing the same thing? Because the shield provides a HP bonus, toughness bonus and revives once downed...

Eurantien already has a thread going about this

He mentions that they get instantly revived when downed, elixir r pulses so it’s not an instant revive which is why I figured it might be the shield buff in EC since that is an instant revive.And yes, I’ve seen that thread.

Prot holo thrives under condi spam.

However, just nerf it lmaoI feel the recent nerfs weren't properly targeted at actual prot. Anet, just look at the inventions traitline. Why does everyone pick 1,x,1 there? k.But really, gut it. Along with toxic stealth and herald's ridiculous infuse light, knockbacks, block/evades & condi bombs

Indeed. Now I'm held hostage playing prot holo myself because it's apparently the only viable holo engi build left

The scenario where I get a chain of 2-4 stun/fear/daze applications with condibombs ticking 6-10k damage per second is more and more common nowadays :(

My issue is with holo in general. One second you’re fighting them and have a leg up, then they heal to full and next thing you know there’s just a barrage of damage out of nowhere and you’re dead or they’re evading and blocking until their heal resets. It doesn’t even seem like the damage is coming from holo mode? Is it passive trait damage proccing from something? I’m pretty sure I see projectiles but they aren’t glowing?

It’s a very flashy spec and for some reason it’s always been difficult for me to tell what’s going on. And seemingly every holo meta build has had some bonus damage proccing from traits that seemed a bit too high. It’s much more manageable now, but these traits seem to not get balanced very well. Like damage on symbols, damage on fear, damage from cc’ing on ele.

Guard, ele, engi are definitely the biggest offenders though. Necro damage on fear isn’t really that threatening. The life siphon can be though.

Core traits can very well be imbalanced. You cannot leave them unchanged if you actually want to improve the game in general. Anti-corrosion Plating for instance was added to the game in 2018, only several months after the PoF elite specialisations shipped which, as everyone knows, made player characters drastically stronger. It's safe to assume that that trait and other abilities released around that time were developed with the same mindset.
