[Broken] Gather intelligence from Dominion recon specialists

This event often does not accept the gathered intelligence and therefore fails. In consequence, the Communications Tower event won't spawn, barring the respective achievement from being completed... :/

Please fix!

Edit - Workaround: Look for a map where the Ash Legion NPC at the top of the hill in front of the Mines isn't there. This means you are on a map where the alternate NPC from the Mines will show up to collect the intel - an indicator that the event will work on this map. :)

Yep. What makes this doubly annoying is that this event is required to trigger the communications tower event, which is the daily event for today. This particular chain of missions was working on Friday 5/29 or so, which was the last time I did it. At that time, the NPC was down by the gate, not up on the hill. Apparently moving the NPC broke the event.

I think the location is randomly determined (between the two) for the instance. Once an instance is bugged it will continue to fail. I agree it always seems to fail if the NPCs are on the hill. Succeeds if they are on the ground. For some reason the mine seems to bug a lot more than the village.

Earlier today I waited for this event to take place at Vloxen Mine. I saw the Intelligence report collector come out of the rear door into the forest and stand a few yards from it. The event NPCs spawned and people were able to hand in the intelligence reports.

I have also seen this event spawn repeatedly where the NPC appears on the cliff as per the above screenshot and is invisible. If this happens you cannot turn in any of the intelligence reports.

So, it appears that there are two locations that this NPC can appear at Vloxen mine. One where he just appears invisible and on the cliff and one where he appears to walk out of the mine. One is clearly bugged.

As a result of this event being bugged more times than working it also stops the follow on event from taking place.

Again, it requires some Quality control by a Developer....

I've found a workaround: Hop between LFG groups on different maps until you find one that has just started and does not have the invisible Ash Legion charr on the hill. You can then proceed with the Mines events, the intel collect event will progress, because it will have the alternate NPC come running from the Mines and waiting by the door to collect the intel you've gathered. Afterwards, upon success, you can immediately destroy the nearby Communication Tower for the achievement.

I've been doing this all evening and have now completed the achievement. :)

That would work, if not for the fact, that I never have been able to talk to either NPC in this event. Not the cloaked one on top, nor the one from the mines.

I don't know why this is so extremely bugged, for such a long time allready.

It blocks 2 achievements to progress. "Communications Breakdown" and "Intel Acquired"

It also blocks the daily. Looks like the NPC is simply not resetting at the end of the chain.

In theory you could also do those two events around leadfoot village but I've only seen that one show up once and you would probably have to purposely fail events on the other lane ...

You do not need to talk to them! Just approaching them automatically delivers the intel you've collected.

Again: If the hill top NPC isn't there, you are on a map where the collect intel event at the Mines will work just fine. :)

They generate randomly, so yeah, hard to find at times.

Anyway, it is almost a week now and it is still bugged.

Two weeks.

If this would be a minor cosmetic issue of a gemstore item, we would have been drowned in patches. :/

It looks like the problem is that when the follow up event spawns it spawns the explosives before the NPC gets into position and people can immediately grab the explosives and blow up the tower before the NPC gets into location. This will end the event without giving credit to the achievement and break the intelligence gathering event.

The tower destruction event itself also has a problem in that the towers spawn half dead or lower or it can spawn full and seemingly suddenly lose a huge amount of health for no reason(I couldn't see any other player around and I didn't do it ...). This means that the tower could potentially self destruct and break the event even without players breaking it with their twitchy trigger finger.

Edit: ... just discovered an even more horrible part about this bug. Apparently the NPC getting into position deals damage to the tower. Why is this a problem you might ask. Well because the tower can spawn with barely any health. Like this.imgAs soon as the NPC gets into position the tower is destroyed. :/

Edit 2: Found out why the towers can spawn like that and why their health just some so suddenly sometimes. They can be attacked even when the event is not up with normal attacks. They can even be destroyed this way but they respawn pretty quickly. The towers only have 50k HP while the bombs does 5k per explosion so these are supposed to take 10 bombs to destroy. Unfortunately this does not count for the achievement.

At least this is finally done.img
