Drizzlewood Coast - Lost Its Novelty Already?

Am I unlucky in getting the wrong map each time I travel to Drizzlewood lately? All I seem to find are Necro Minions and Engi Turrets camping the supply runs, tourists at the base camp waiting to chute in when a chest appears and just a few doughty souls actually trying to take the various sites.

Unfortunately, I think you might be right about people losing interest. It's basically a WvW map, so if people genuinely don't enjoy the mode, they'll move on from Drizzlewood just as soon as they complete their story or finish their meta achievement for the new emote.

I myself intend to pick at achievements to get all the new weapon and backpack skins, but Drizzlewood is very "constant" if that makes any sense. To play the map "correctly", you're constantly running from place to place. That kind of gameplay isn't for everybody, so I'm not surprised if there's some burnout.

I did the story bits, did the strike some for MPs did map completion on 9 toons did the meta a few times. I dont do much pve these days or even play much in the last few months dispite still basically being on lockdown due to covid. I personally resent the MPs being locked behind grinding the map, so for the 1st time Im content to not bother with hitting MP cap. Im at 322 and would need to finish the grind to get to 328 (missing 4 points I think). What ever its just a number.

I think its a nice map the terrain is cool. I even kinda like the wvw idea just dont like being made to grind a crazy amount for MPs. I think having things like some ultra rare infusion or skin is a better way to keep people grinding a map for the 0.0001% chance at the 10k item vs having to do to for MPs that rly have no use outside the map itself.

I also would get more into it with voices etc.

Does the map have anything to offer other than endless wvw like grinding without actually gaining pips or getting to pvp? Actually wondering not a snipe. Does it have good unique drops? Is it good gold compared to other pve content?

I found it lacked a certain something. Perhaps in the end it tried to over complicate itself with currencies and rep and lacked the basic simplicity behind maps like the Silverwastes.

It could have been more focussed in gameplay and wvw stuff, but instead it dabbled in bits without really committing

It’s good, just lacked staying power for me

Why would I play crappy WvW on a timer when I have real WvW as an option?

To me, this map was bad from the first day.I did the story once and Map Completion twice.I don't like the weapon and armour sets either, so I only made enough weapons to get the mastery points.

I didn't appreciate mob being able to kill me mid air before, so the snipers obviously are far from welcome to me.

Still players doing it. I like the map but the problem is unless it's a fresh map or close to the boss I don't stay. Lots of times too you log into a the troops are ready but don't control all areas so you know that ip has been abandoned. I want a fresh map but then you hustle to get max participation for exotic versions of the boxes. It's just not a I can join at any stage type thing

It had novelty? I found it boring from the get-go. Nothing to do really, except escort some supplies? No thanks... I spent about an hour there on 2 different day. Boring place. I would rather go back and do Grothmar again. That was the best map in years.

The map has the same problem Dragon's Stand has. The map is entirely focused on the meta event and there's not really anything else to do.Not being there from the start to get the participation up sucks, since you won't get the exotic reward boxes.

The fact that participation does not carry over has become a hindrance to me. I was playing an active map a week ago, with a commander working on getting the meta done, so I stayed up later than I usually would, hoping to finish it off and get the rewards. But having done it before, I realized it was probably another 15-20 minutes to go (including the cache keepers), and I was tired and wasn't willing to stay up that late.Next time on the map, participation reset to zero. So basically, unless I have a lot of time so I can play the map to full completion, there isn't much point in playing it - you need complete some number of events before you get any rewards, and the time from start to end of meta can be pretty long. So this really isn't very friendly for casual play.

I like the map & the reward it gives, however, due to the nature of the meta is very time consuming and energy draining to participate in one.

For example, if I go to silverwaste, I can just join the meta at any stage & continue with the group from any point of the meta and still feel rewarding.

Can't speak from Dragon's strand because I didn't farm much of it after the burnt out from the skyscale quests (if not I'd have spent more time on it).

However, to join the Drizzlewood meta, I'd have to look for a fresh map every single time, to make sure I can get the most of the participations, and to make sure I can level the chests to the exotic level asap. Therefore the whole meta itself plus the gatekeepers after in total would take about an hour and a half (if it's an efficient map) to two full hours from my experience, it could go even more than that if population just suddenly dropped and the tier reward just stopped spawning at a certain point until the meta is completed...... Not to mention having to constantly jumping from event to event for that entire duration is very tiring, if not the participation would be low and slowly built and I don't want to not contribute enough and drag the meta to the point of stop receiving reward, which means if I don't have that much time nor energy to commit that night, I will not zone in.

In conclusion, I'm not complaining about the meta, in fact, I pretty much really enjoy it even tho it has some flaws, I'm just saying that the meta itself is not something that I can just join casually at any time any day, which would explain why I don't go in as much as I'd like to, may be it's the same for many other people aswell?

On an unrelated note: I'm not a fan of having few more items that take up spaces in my inventory, as if I don't have enough "junks" in my inventory/bank already... yes, I'm refering to those chest detector/ram/catapult/etc... Can they please streamline those "junks"?

There is a simple and effective solution to be on the wrong instance of the map:Use the lfg tool!Look for squads already listed or make a new one. That worked for all maps with metas for years, I’m sure it will work for this one as well.

@"Dayra.7405" said:Use the lfg tool!Of course, LFG is always great if the 1 that listed as "fresh map" aren't half completed when you zone in, or the one you're on started as very active, then suddenly got abandoned half way and you can't really attract more people from LFG to continue from that point because the reward just stopped spawning. But my main issue wasn't about looking for an active fresh map, it's all about time commitment and how unpredictable of the duration the event will last really.

Same here, the hype was there the first 12 hours, but then it pretty much bottled down to grinding the same map over and over again. I went all-in for 3 days to hit the meta achievement and getting all the recipes and stuff, but after this i never set foot on this map again. The same counts for the new strike mission, I do it once for the weekly and thats about it, takes way too long in my opinion :)

To be fair there is festival now so the people doing DC is less but you know DC map now is good gold source too so it won't be abandoned. Take a look at Silverwaste, it's another gold source map people still running it even when released quite long time ago.Just wait till festival end, I usually do DC too about once or twice per day, but because of festival I am not doing DC.

To me the map lost its charm when more and more bots/afk revenants started abusing the fact that simply standing afk at the dolly mob spawns will give you event participation if one guy in your party kills the mobs while you provide boons. On one hand the dollies are kinda needed to boost the participation, on the other hand they're simply just flawed because they allow for perma afking or.. the stuff I stated above.Overall it seems to progress notably slower in some cases, even though the map is claimed to be full, which is most likely due to many people afking

DR was introduced to make camping spots less profitable. But the camping of the dolyak routes does the exact opposite. The longer the afk-campers stay there, the more escorts they participate in, the more participation % they gain and so more and better loot.

There even exists an ingame-mechanic to prevent this kind of abuse. When you participate in a Dynamic Event an run away too far and too long, the event will grey out. That means you are inactive in that event and will not gain anything when it finishes until you return and refresh your participation. The escort-events are too small and short. A small change of the parameters for that map might do the trick already.
