Open skies: Second Spear Nayrim event chain question

So I just did the POF story for skimmer mastery and I figured that while I'm doing it I might as well do Griffon collection as well. I do the first part of the event chain by defending the event in diviner reach, but other than starting the rest of the event chain other escort missions pop up, but not the event chain for Nayrim. Do I have to do the side quests before her chain becomes active or is it just broken? I tried this on three maps and nothing after the defend diviners actually happens.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are asking, but in case it helps: after finishing the PoF story to start the griffon collection you need to kill mobs in Domain of Vabbi which will sometimes drop certain "strange" items that will direct you to speak to Beastmaster Ghazal when you use them from your inventory. After doing some searching I have found out that event is the last part of the griffon collection. I'm not up to that part yet so unfortunately I can't help you with it. Hopefully Hesione or someone else can help you.

If all else fails I would suggest submitting a ticket asking about this chain, because bugs with mount collections do happen. I personally had a bug with the raising skyscales collection that is required to unlock the skyscale.

yes that did. no damage to the npc but the gates went down then she just up and disappears after saying she needs to collect her things before heading out

I've done the escort several times in recent months, so I know it's not entirely bugged, but it was only coincidence I was there at the time it started, so I can't vouch for the delay time between the defense event end and escort event start.

I think the time has been reduced from that that - I was in Desert Highlands the other day when someone asked for help with it and I think she was only in the house for about 10 minutes. The key is that you have to escort her across the map to the grotto area and then you have to wait a few minutes and complete the next event when a champion shows up after several waves of attackers.

If you are going to do this event, make sure you call it out in map chat - in case other people need it and to make sure you get sufficient help to complete it.

The time varies. I have gotten both 5minute and 20 minute waits in between the two events. This is also not particularly unusual since there are other events with variable timers as well.

I can see how it can be a complete PITA staying on a map for over 20 minutes, and then finding the event not progressing.

If Anet are running a random time interval with a normal distribution, please decrease the standard deviation value!

Also consider this, on all three maps I tried 2 of them were closing....such joy

I suggest going for the other parts of the Griffon collection instead like collecting eggs and doing events in other maps. This is one of the parts of the collection that I finished last because it took up too much of my time.

That's really unlucky :(

This is the main reason I had randomly timed events. It's like brandstone mining in Istan, make sure you have a coffee and a good book.
