Unrefined server reward system for matches

First off let me apologize for my KB typing ability. I learned how to type on a ribbon mechanical typewriter and for some reason cannot transition to pc kb, so one long block with no paragraphs. There used to be server rewards each matchup consisting of boosts to MF and gold from kills, I think that was stopped, I have not seen any notifications of those rewards for some time. Right now other then personal satisfaction one derives from winning, there are no match rewards that I know of. The old system was to support community involvement in WvW, but now those rewards are replaced thru daily logons and salvaging. My basic idea is each matchup week the winners of previous week would get a standard extra coin payout for each objective captured or defended scaled to the importance of the objective. The first week of relinking should maybe be left standard with the second week being the new reward start. Also transfers be restricted to the first week of relink to be fair. I can't remember but I think it changed when skirmish chest was introduced, but maybe I am wrong. I do remember it though, but it didn't really give much of a reward - it was kind of laughable, like "here, have some carrots and potatoes for winning". We've asked for improved rewards outside of that though (winning matchups I mean), whether skirmish chests or reward tracks.PS - I do miss the feeling of those type writers, they were fun to press the keys.

It's because timezones matter for match-ups. If you do real well during your timezones and your offhours are atrocious you still lose.

The skirmish system was put into place to address that. Only the score that is during your skirmish counts towards pips. The reward is for those that actually put in time for WvW rather than PvE freeloading on stacked servers.

Besides, we need less influence to PVE not more PvE. If it were up to me I would replace veteran creature daily with yak escort (which has a title associated with it as well) : it's more impactful to the skirmish and you won't have people afking at a spawn spot.

You know you can line feed and carriage return with one key nowadays? It's the biggest key on the keyboard for a reason (well, ignoring space). The magnificently glorious enter key.

TL;DR on the rest of the argument, rewards for winning is just exploited by players and lead to more matchup manipulations and stacking. The entire point of WvW is 24/7 war. That's it. The only thing that will happen when you start giving a golden medal to the winner is that WvW turns into a toxic wasteland like that of sPvP. I honestly dont want that to be the fate of WvW.

it has been discussed several times. if u want make winning matter (not skirmishes tho, that's too small and pointless - this would be really encouraging the burning out which Anet argumented the cutting of tournaments), then there should be rewards in terms of mattering (good) loot and/or gold weeky

currently weekly rewards are what? 1 warlords armor chest, some claim tickets, some mystic coins, 3-4 shards (grandm. mark shards)

the losing-ppt server mustn't get stat debuffs for losing skirmishes, that'd be just and plainly dumb. often losing ppt is just due to the numerical imbalance, regardless how hard u wipe them in battles.

there is yet the issue of borderland bloodlust, which is combined with the non working numerical balance one big problem in Wvw. gives the number advantage additionally more stats, across all maps. just bullcrap.

overall, in a reform, player kills should count WAY more. currently they have barely any effect. they could maybe just let playerkillcount run parallel to ppt count, and have a 1st 2nd 3rd and resulting point there as well.

  • the stacking thing isn't that bad, i doubt it would become way more than we have now... pptstacking is yet big, same with guilds stacking - like 5 servers contain most of the better guilds.about ppt, ofc there is the problem that also scamming players who want to be carried bandwagoned to it, but this is yet the case, despite no real use of it.

that is bc the system needs a fix anyways, then the rewards can be fixed.

Like in other threads with the same topic:

We can not have nice rewards until ArenaNet stops promoting night-capping while regioning.

In fact, we have an issue now where the existing rewards are not coveted because of that. There isn't so much a lack of rewards as there is a lack of value attributed to the rewards because they are not distributed over fair terms of competition. Adding rewards with more of a personal value would just make players feel that even more rewards were unjustly given out and add fuel to that fire of a discussion. They need to fix the underlying system first and they are not delivering on that. Instead the underlying systems are getting more and more dated, unraveled and devolved.
