arah is the hardest dungeon back to the old days. you have to well known your team (pro)when you run it. since ascended gear and new elite spec release it already become much easier. however is really hard to find a team on lfg will run this. maybe ask some veteran in your guild to help you with. i think this is the only way get can get through this. dont expect you can find any thing good on lfg.

Luckily envelopes offer dungeon rewards too if you want to collect the weapon set

Short answer: dodge.

Long answer: This boss is definitely the hardest dungeon boss, but fortunately it is still an AI boss with patterns and easy to see telegraphs. the difficulty on this boss is that it doesn't work as a DPS golem as many bosses on the game since it has OHKO attacks that cannot be mitigated so easily. You have to actually fight it like you would fight a dark souls boss, just dodge the strongest attack, know when to halt your dps to focus on dodging and survival.

Arah is definitely the hardest Dungeon on the game it even has its own tier on difficulty. But it is still old content and has fallen behind the power creep of the game. if peopel struggle with this is because bosses and enemies can't be cheesed with dps avalanches and requires to advance carefully through mobs.

i like its difficulty but like everything in core game the more you come towards the end the more the game feels unfinished like the devs had not enough time to develope the game properly to end and just did their best to fullfill release date by doing just „something“.

is like „meh i have spend hours to get here just for THIS!?!?!?“

If you're on NA get a hold of me in-game.

I'll take you through Arah all paths.

I'm actually bored enough to do this like right now today. Message me if you're on.

The most important phases are Phase 1 and 2. Each time lupicus eats a grub his damage and ability to life leech go up significantly (feels almost like double). The max it's worth fighting at is 3-4 grubs depending on your party. He's a lot easier to beat at 0-1 grubs eaten.

In phase one, when he puts his hand into the sky - as it reaches its peak, dodge (including your party members). If you succeed it will say evade. If you fail the timing your character or whoever was randomly targetted will start glowing a faint green/black locust swarm kind of aura. This is followed by a CC and the grub being released. Focus and kill those grubs ASAP. Outside of that the only other mechanic you need to dodge/block is his 1-2 kicks (he has a short tell with a windup before doing it) he does inbetween a roar or raising his hand.

Phase 2 begins when lupicus goes invulnerable for a short period of time. You can expect that soon he'll do his massive aoe damage attack. You can block/dodge/reflect this. Ideally for the remainder of the fight you want to fight in melee (this includes phase 3). He also randomly shoots out a glob of high damage acid like spell if you choose to fight at range.

Phase 3 you'll want stability or blocks to be able to escape being bubbled/domed. This part of the fight is super easy if Lupi has only eaten 0-1 grubs since generally you can outdps his ability to life steal (a giant aoe where he goes into the sky which leeches from everything). If he's eaten 2+ grubs, main thing you need to avoid is that life leech since he can heal himself back into phase 2.

Tips: don't use any pets or minions since grubs can spawn on them, he can life leech off them in phases 1 and 3; also some of the AoEs he shoots out that would hit your pet may also damage you as well like his ranged acid glob.

Bring blocks/stability/reflects when you're able to and if your classes permit. All classes have at least one of those options.

Have your whole group in melee, you don't need to necessarily be stacked tightly with them even though that's ideal for damage and boon share, but all people should be in melee, especially for fast reading. Lupicus tends to teleport and hammer down on groups that are spread out.

Lastly Deny Deny Deny grubs. Focus those things if they spawn in phase 1 as soon as possible as it makes the fight significantly easier.

Hope this helps. I know it's a struggle but I used to practice soloing him pre-hot before Lupi was nerfed and before the massive power creep we have today. It's a matter of watching what he's doing and using these tips I gave to succeed.

Heh, this dungeon is still fun to run. Lupi used to be a kitten, but now people can trash him. Push him up against the wall in phase one, then right after his invuln phase feedback his acid rain and he's either dead or close to it. There's a bunch of youtube clips on it. While you're there check out the 5-thief team who all went double Quips. It was like a herd of geese swarming poor 'ol Lupi.
Bring a thief to stealth past most of the trash mobs, bring a mesmer to skip/port past others or port the dead back from a waypoint. Path 4 is arguably the worst, but I think it's the most fun, probably because it's the least run. Simin made it a *****. Some of my guildmates were involved in an 8-hour run on this path in it's hey-day. I cringe to think about that now.

Arah is not hard at all but requires some knowledge. Lupicus is really easy if you reflect the projectiles at the end of the 1st phase. I used to solo all paths except p4 with thief back in the days, so with the elite specialisation it should be even easier.

In other words, you just cheesed the more difficult parts. However, avoiding something doesn't make it less hard, if done the intended way.

The intended way is skipping the trash. It was never intended to kill everything. takes ages but is way easier.

If it was not intended to be fought, they would have not put in into the game in the first place.

You might not have realized it, but there is also a boss among the commonly skipped enemies.Noone would program a boss with the intention of having it skipped.

Then the shouldnt have added stealth, reflect , portal wich inevitbly be used to skip. There is not a set way its designed to be defeated. Skips are in idea of strategy

You can simplify your runs with a dedicated healer, that generally does the trick with Lupicus if you dont want to dodge and fight it the normal way.

I have far more fun dodging and outdamaging the thing. All you need to do is pay attention to the first stage's worms that spawn when you fight it, kill them all as soon as they spawn, and Lupicus wont be as overly powerful.

yes they did this intentionally. there was a dev interview once where they specifically said on the arah subject that they had certain enemies patrolling in patterns (arah p3 first mobgroup after the first 2 bosses for example) so you are able to outmaneuver them if you think a bit.or that the boss which you where just talking about is made in such a way, that you are able to skip him, but then you also miss the waypoint at this exact location.or that you can just permastealth through everything if you are able to coordinate it (which is sometimes even tricky due to pathing if you don't know).

you may not have realized it, but skipping (without breaking the map) was always a intentional tool in dungeons, be it bosses or mob groups. and i say it again: commented by the one of the devs ages ago.

...its the same with kohler or the event under the stairs in AC or the cave troll which even spawns randomly. or ooze king and queen in cof. its optional content where you descide for yourself if you want to do it. kohler is often done in puggroups on EU for example, because of the waypoint.if a fight is completly walled off so you can't progress, then its a fight which is intended to be done every single time. like lupi.

Me and my sister duo Arah p2 and 3 any day, from first to last boss, without any exploit or trick. Saying the boss are like raid ones means you have no idea seriously ?They are embarrassingly easy, except lupicus. The only boss that I'd say to be bugged af is Grenth in p4, unless it's seriously meant that it resets whenever one starts attacking it with a skill that isn't autoattack.People don't do Arah because they simply don't do dungeons and it's overall better to run it without a full team because extra, clueless people only make it harder for the experienced ones, with aggroing stuff, ignoring mechanics, running non-meta builds. So yes, I'll rather duo and gift the last spots to friend and guildies, since making a team will likely mean pain.

@Pip.2094 said:People don't do Arah because they simply don't do dungeonsThat's currently the case. However, eight years ago, Arah was the high end of PvE and had been avoided because of the difficulty, especially path 4.They nerfed it since then and powercreeped the player professions, so today's Arah is merely a dim shadow of its original iteration.

It reflects projectiles. Resets if not hit within a few sec after teleport. Everything works except projectiles. You can also use traps or mines to solo it. Lots of groups did arah full clears during the dungeon days. Afaik only p4 got some slight nerfs but rewards got massive nerfs. From 3g per path to 1. Recipes are almost worthless now.
