How to find a squad with a not full map in Mad Labyrinth?

Recommended Posts

After searching for over 30 minutes and 2 dozen squads, I'm clearly lost. Every time I join a squad, no matter the size, they are always in a different instance. How do I find a squad I can actually join and play with? Is there no function to filter out full maps? I'm not willing to waste another 30minutes.

anything 20 plus is almost always full. I think cap 25 in the actual map so even 17 - 24 most likely not every player has joined the tag. I just go down the list. It is annoying because you join see full then it resets you to the top in lfg so you have to remember the lfg messages and not join the same one's.

That's the problem OP , and everyone else, is having. You log into the labyrinth. You join a squad, try to join their map, it's full. It will be full for every squad you try for anywhere for 5 minutes to an hour. The only luck I have getting onto a map with a tag is if I see one pop up where the squad size is 1, then I have a good chance to get on the map. I agree with OP that something should be done, even if it's an automated system where once the instance is full, the game removes it from the LFG list.

The op was unaware of taxiing in this case so it was a diff prob to this

It is actually one thing that is very poorly implemented in the game; from LFG to the grouping in an instance. The underlying system is fine but the whole interface is very unintuitive and looks like some features are intentionally hidden (well just very poor design). I think it is the primary reason many players don't join group activities from open world, festivals, to dungeons and fractals. Because they just simply don't know how or are afraid that they will screw something up in a group environment.

I'm sure there are many players like you out there, that just don't know these features even exist. Most players do not use external sources for playing a game (and they shouldn't at least for basic interface functions).

I really like that we don't have an LFG system like some other MMOs which just dumps you into any group with a space, with no regard for play styles or priorities. Imagine if joining the Labyrinth mixed together the people who demand specialist builds, only doing certain doors on a set pattern and knowing when to skip and when to fight enemies in between, with the people who just want to clear everything using whatever build/gear they happen to have on at the time? Ok you might get into a group faster but everyone would be complaining about everyone else 'doing it wrong' thanks to people with conflicting priorities being forced together.

On the other hand because it is different to many other games it could probably do with some more explanation for new players when they first use it. Especially something to tell you there is no queue; you choose a group from the list to join or make your own, and to say you will not be automatically moved to their map and how to join it.

Something to mark groups on a full map would be useful too, especially for the Labyrinth. There's another thread about this where people suggested the text could be in a different colour, so the groups are still listed in case you want to keep trying or space opens up, but so it's easier to prioritise trying the ones which have space.

I did a thread on this. https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/116536/full-maps-in-lfg-merged

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, as the current LFG system does exactly what you describe.

No it doesn't, it lets you choose which group you want to join from the list.

If it worked like group finders in other games I've played then you'd only get to choose which map you're going to, then it would put you into any squad in the queue with a space. There would be no option to look at the descriptions and find one doing only the doors you want (or one doing all the doors, if that's what you want) or requiring no mounts or no trinkets or whatever other rules players come up with. Everyone who is looking at the same time goes into the same group and if you want anything more specialised that that you have to start a private group through your guild and hope you can find enough people.

Except if it worked like other games I've played you wouldn't be able to use it for the Lab at all, because it would only work with dungeons and raids.

Then you just join squads with the color showing its NOT a full instance.

Or Anet would just put you in the instance with the most players but still room. Right now I always get into a new one, join com and join in instance....

That too is an excellent idea.

Why the heck do I always join the dead servers? Why the heck is there multiple dead servers?

Players do leave the packed servers, so its fair that PACKED servers commanders leave squad up in lfg.... But they need to be color coded so people know, "hey there is room now, join on me"
