Bounty Feedback [merged]

Recommended Posts

I never got the impression that bounties were intended to be a key feature. Just because they were added with the expansion, doesn't mean they were intended to be a sea change in how the game is played. Bounties aren't the problem, they are taking the heat for other issues, namely the almost total lack of rewarding and repeatable content in the new maps. This is the reality of what few meta events looks like.

I look at bounties more like an extension of the 'side missions' achievement tab, in fact the Justice of the Blade side story seems like a perfect fit to be re-engineered into the bounty system.

From a technical standpoint, it feels like a good idea. Group content, player activated (I think?), and some of the bosses have at least been interesting challenges.

...So why is it pulling teeth to get people to show up for them? Over the past few days, I'm 0 for 4 on getting them done, and I only got yesterday's bounty daily by hopping in on one to get lucky. Sorry for the click-baity title, but I'm hoping to see some changes in the way Bounties work, and I think they can with a few adjustments.

On EU, this hasn't really been an issue, I see bounty trains going on all the time and there's always a few on each map in LFG, often stating "bounty train starting xx:45" or whatever time.

Recommendations:•Don't start the bounty clock until a player engages. This allows players time to coordinate and gather before taking on a bounty target. Map callouts don't work well, and a guild might not be able to mobilize on short 2-5 minutes notice.

The bounty doesn't start until a player with who took the bounty from the board gets within range of the bounty location, as long as people stay back, it won't pop and thus trigger the timer. It's also less of a problem if you're already in a bounty group or have made one. I don't think you'll get much success just by calling out a bounty target and expecting people to arrive en masse.

•AND/OR add more time to the bounty clock. 10 minutes likely isn't enough time to rally a map/guild, travel, and fight a champ/legendary. The timers need to be more generous in some way, and this is probably the easiest solution.

10 minutes really is enough when you're in a group. I've even done some with 4 people. Again, I think the issue you are having is in expecting the map or guild to rally to you when you want to get a bounty done rather than starting an LFG for a bounty group or joining one from the LFG - trust me, you'll have much greater success doing this.

•Cycle bounties faster, especially Legendary ones. The collections have specific bounties in them, and having to wait, ...and wait... ...and wait.. for a bounty to come up only to find that no one is doing it is beyond frustrating. The quiet periods on bounties needs to be much shorter.

It would be nice if Legendary Bounties cycled faster, but I suspect they don't because of the Elegy Mosaic's gained from them are used to buy Funerary Weapons and Armor (once you've unlocked armor pieces via collections). What compounds the latter part currently is that often you can get a miserable amount of mosaics per legendary kill and currently two of the legendaries don't even give elegies.

•Rewards? Are players not showing up because the rewards and cheap? Just covering my bases on questions here, but perhaps that's an issue. The only reason I'd ever start Corrupted Facet is for the mount collection.

At the moment, I'd say people are mostly doing Champion bounties for the achievement tied to them for the 'Hunter For Hire' title and for specialisation collection achievements tied to certain bounties. After those have been completed, there's very little reason to keep doing champions because a lot of players are very unsatisfied with the rewards granted afterwards.

Legendaries again are part of an achievement for 'Contract Killer' title and can also be farmed for Elegy Mosiacs to buy Funerary Weapons and Armor, but I've already covered that. I'm not sure if any others do, but Legendary Awakened Hoarder also has a (slim) chance to drop the Mini Awakened Abomination which is a pretty cool mini, but also worth quite a lot of gold right now.

I feel like bounties are a great idea, but they need to be tweaked to give players an incentive to keep going back and doing them, as it stands, there's very little reason to do so. Once I've gotten enough elegies from Legendary bounties to buy the weapons I want for the skins, I probably won't touch them again because they don't feel worthwhile at the present time.

huh this got merged.

I guess that means it's being read for feedback then...

1) Meatgrinders aren't fun or skillful, take a page from D3 and remove the Waller (Jailer) + (Arcane) Vortex Laser combo2) If a boss moves, it really shouldn't also BLOCK for extended periods of time3) Red Light, Greenlight is not even worthy of being a mechanic as there's no punishment (or its extremely negligible)

  • 3 years later...

First their levels are too high. Second, there is a freaking timer, it always get away. Third not so easy get a large mop as the bounties are such a high level. Fourthly some have stupid mechanics to deal with that means even you on on their timer, they can't be hurt unless you play the mechanics right. It is very frustrating to get all these 4 points right, or get a large mop to overwhelm them. The waiting usually do not pay off as you need hit these 4 criterias. It can be frustrating.

I only managed to did it using a tag and during high traffic hour. Phew

Was this worth adding to a 3 year old thread?
