Started the episode, I often play with sound off, so it looked like long waits. Fought boss 1 metrica, fought as a reaper so i could answer phone while doing. Killed the sponge somehow.

I was short on mastery points as I never do/did the ballerina stuff mp achieves ( stand here while not touching that within etc etc ).

I did LS3 and LS4 on all my 3 accounts, LS5 only one one, and I will skip this episode on that one too.

No, I just finished 50th world complete on my main account, will go do another.

I've only played the intro so far and will play more tonight by diving into the first DRM.

My first impressions are; the dialogue and character works seems pretty great. So far it's the highlight. The first story instance in Rata Sum frustrated me because I kept dying, and would respawn at the lab and have to run through the whole environment to get back to the enemies. So it was frustrating for my squishy sb to die repeatedly, but okay I can accept that. But the trek back to the enemies made it even worse.

Otherwise I am liking the story aspect, even if I am confused why it seems the incentive to not kill another elder dragon (i.e. avoiding the apocalypse) is being seemingly handwaved.

The response missions aren't as bad as expected, they are actually okay and somewhat fun. I just want to know how we will be able to replay the episode on other characters once the community event is over? Will the story become immediately available then?

You can solo them, that was first thing I did, then when I realised how boring it was I joined some partys.

The response missions aren't as bad as expected, they are actually okay and somewhat fun. I just want to know how we will be able to replay the episode on other characters once the community event is over.

The community event is almost certainly just the bonus rewards. the episode and content will be fully replayable - it's more a case of if people will actually want to. I assume there will be more things to buy as time progresses to incentivise

They did last night apparently

I tested CMs (not normal) after patch and i didn't really notice any difference in boss health -> still sponge

OK, well normal is very much nerfed at least. At least 10-15mins faster now.

Because of the lfg wanting squads and it being set up for parties, I haven't lucked into any cm's today to see if cm is better than yesterday

I did shooting star one yest pre-nerf. I went ranged during the adds phases. I almost got caught once, but as long as you keep your dodge energy up, you should be OK to avoid the concentric circles

I'm struggling to find groups so far for CM to do multiple times for the other achievement though

Soloed the Metrica mission on a half baked condi druid. Took 25 mins, no death. Most of that time spent on the "boss" a glorified punching bag, with extra filling. Didn't notice any particular reward. Dialogue in that one was Okayish. Haven't done story. I was expecting having to meet up with the various races and factions around the world and do some special missions, then select them as allies for the dragon missions. But I did a mission without even having started the story, and was given Sylvari allies. I dont understand the point ? I was looking forward to working more with the other races and pick who accompanies me

Yeah I'm sure some classes have it easier. It's also misleading as you think it starts after boss but it's any shockwave so as reaper i was rounding up mobs and got k/d towards a shockwave so was aggravated. I would have to 100 percent pay attention and pull off alot of dps at points to get it. It's more I don't even want to do those again on CM maybe I guess.Lol the CM mode achieves is 5 times I thought it was 3 like come on anet

Pretty poor stuff.

I know they are going to be expanding this in the upcoming weeks but the initial release should have had more especially as it's been four months since the last LS release. At the moment there's very little worth playing here and not that much to be excited about. Maybe the next few weeks will turn it around and it'll become a decent episode but I'm not that hopeful.

No new map, as expected. A brief story with three repeatable but otherwise pretty standard missions with a defense section, an escort or wave defense section and a boss section with a boss that is still a HP sponge in both solo and party mode. A bunch of locked off masteries, presumably those will unlock in the upcoming weeks otherwise why have them there at all yet, they're hardly all that exciting. Two more weapon sets, the Volcanic Stormcaller weapons that, apparently, are rare drops and the Dragon Slayer weapons that cry out "we will have a sparklier version in the future!"

They didn't even include a meta achievement but that will probably change once there's enough content.

You’ll earn rewards for your efforts, and faction members can join your Dragon Response Missions to bolster your defenses and healing. Disappointing that this means do the dragon missions regardless of whether the Crystal Bloom are there or not, do an LS4 meta and donate materials while a progress bar updates in the top right of the screen. Disappointing that the rewards are yet more bags of crafting materials and the same banners and other dull bric-a-brac we got from so many other "Bonus events".

I do like the idea of choosing a faction to accompany you but at the moment it would be more accurate to say "You’ll earn rewards for your efforts, and faction members can join your Dragon Response Missions to repeatedly die to the destroyer's AoE."

Very underwhelming.

If you jump at the right time you can avoid the destroyers that look like the first boss+boss in metrica and you can avoid the brisban crab as well or just move abit to the side out of the bridge and aoe dont go that far.

I dont know, I didn't find the AoE even challenging to dodge, but the fight was Boooooriiiiing. They take too long to die for such a repetitive and simple pattern. I think a lot of mobs that arent even bosses are far more interesting to fight and dont last as long. Awakened in particular. This boss had two moves : Hit hard and AoE fire barrage.

Obviously soloing's gonna make it longer, but even with a team of 5, all you do is shave the HP faster. Those fights are anything but interesting. The only redeeming quality of these mission are the allies, and I'm still in the dark as to which factions are meant to be available beside the default ones.

so far seems like a prolog to the actual chapters coming inthe future. I think this episode would have been better titled as another prolog to the fire dragon. So far its not worthy of being titled a chapter imo.... That said it was short cause its split over some weeks im guessing which i dont mind cause im playing other games along side gw2 atm. So i didnt have a need to hard grind for several hours on masteries or achievements etc etc.

The mission bosses could have a 33% reduction in their health pools as the fights drag on a bit to long in pug groups and this is coming from some one with raid exp, gear, etc. The fights last too long without any real heavy mechanics behind them. Especially the 2nd and 3rd missionsThe first missions usually clears a bit quicker from my exp so far. The 2nd mission takes AGES to complete in the final fight it just drags on for way to long where you are just basically slapping a dps golem. The 3rd mission at least has you move around a bit but the fight could end quicker imo.Another thing that could be done is to remove the timer at the start of each mission once all 3 moral boost goals are reached there really seems to be no point in having to wait the extra 2 or some times 3 mins once all the goals are done.

The amount of time it takes to complete these fights is a bit to long for me when thinking about long term replay value.... The missions either need to be more like the old dungeons were at minimum or they just need to be out right shorter. You can do most strikes bosses faster than you can do these mission bosses and thats not a good thing because the strike missions have more appeal to them in replay value than the missions do at least right now.I feel like the missions as they are with no additional substance after the first play through should be able to be done in like 5-10 mins max not 15-20 mins or more.

To be clear i was not expecting anything super amazing or hard from this chapter i was more interested in character dialog than game play this time around which was good enough to pass in my book seeing all the interesting interactions.

I do like the use of old maps and I dont feel like every update needs a new map its always good to see new content and story rolling back through old maps. The bad part is that this content instanced which i get so people can always play it or go back and play it however that makes the impact of it weaker than what it could have been overall.

im not like upset about the update but its not something that kept me hyped after the first play through. That said for a first time play through it was decently enjoyable from a story advancement perspective. Game play wise nothing new.

hmmm I have mixed feelings about this.overall I enjoyed it, and I like we'll see more as soon as a week from now.the dialogue was nice, and I appreciate the story moving forward.The part of rata sum was nice.for the dragon misions, even though I did have fun, and they're finally doing what I've been wanting for a long time (taking parts of existing maps to create new instanced content) to be honest it looks like they were all done in an afternoon. seriously.

It's still one chapter every 2 months, but they said every chapter would be built on between chapters as well. Which likely means more missions - potentially at the three locations Taimi shows us on the map like The Flame Citadel. They are adapting a similar approach to LS1 where they took an episode and 2 weeks later added to it. So whatever we get in a chapter, we will then get additions to it in stages after that

I'm uncertain how I feel about it at this stage. It feels a little jarring with the Icebrood Saga which only just felt it was getting started and now we've moved onto an additional Dragon and a completely different structure. But, if they can improve on this initial and rather shaky implementation, it could work out. They need to sort the lfg issue out, add in some actual variety, mechanics and decent rewards

I wonder though. if this is an episode split into 4 chapters, what are these weekly updates?so we have a story (living world) divided into seasons (season 5 icebrood saga) divided into episodes (episode 5: champions) divided into chapters (truce) and divided into what now? paragraphs? XD

I like how the story is going on and idea of using old maps and being able to train the factions. Dragon Response Missions could be better, the interactions are time gating and mobs feel repetitive. I would like it if they are made more engaging. For example, in the group of destroyers that spawn one destroyer is OP that we need to kill it else we wipe. The enemies should be more randomized in my opinion. When I heard about Dragon Slayer Mastery I was excited, but seeing how this mastery is implemented seems like a waste.Overall I enjoyed the story elements and the faction elements. Dragon Response Missions needs more tweaking and balancing. The mastery name should be changed, the mastery does not justify the name.
