@"coollizzylou.9387" said:ok ok ok here's my only question. Is that all for this chapter? Totally cool if it is, but it feels like something should come after the bonus event. I'm mostly just confused because the trailer made it seem that we would at least have the Crystal Bloom AND the Ebon Vanguard this chapter, and there's an achievement for buying Ebon Vanguard support boxes. I don't know if that means that content is for the next update and just slipped through the cracks, or if that's part of this update but coming later.

I'm genuinely happy with the content already, it's really really good! i just am a little bit confused because I thought something else was coming after the countdown but it doesn't look like that's the case.

Cobalt Flame.8056 ArenaNet › November 25, 2020 Accepted Answer

We apologize for the confusion around the timing of these two events. To clarify, there is a one-week gap between the conclusion of the Crystal Bloom event and the beginning of the next event. The next event, mobilizing the Ebon Vanguard, will begin on December 1. If you haven't received your rewards from the Crystal Bloom yet, be sure to collect them from their representative in Eye of the North before December 1. The Ebon Vanguard is the only other faction event for this release. There will be more faction updates with the next release, arriving after the Wintersdsay festival sometime in the new year. We will be communicating additional information on Faction Event timing in the coming weeks.

How about, instead of asking for a class to be nerfed, in your case the chronomancer, maybe you should learn to play it?I dont enjoy fighting an Engineer or Mesmer in pvp/wvw, yet i am attempting to learn its nuances and learning how to counter on my Necromancer and Ranger. All i'm saying is less nerfing, more learning.

They can be summarized in the following points:

  1. I know 2020 sucks, but did we travel back to 2012-2013 where instanced content had an owner and if they D/C or leave, everyone get's kicked out? And on a similar note, if someone accidentally leaves the instance or dc's they cannot get back in. Also requiring everyone to be in the same instance of EotN to start it is cumbersome, side effect of the way these old type of instanced content works.
  2. The timer at the beginning of each mission, it should not make you wait the remaining time once the 3 tasks are completed.
  3. NPCs get sneezed on them and they instantly die.
  4. Rewards are little to none, especially with CMs. They are not worth the time it takes to complete them, and 0 replayability once you complete all 5 CMs for the achievement.
  5. Escort missions are the worse in every game, and 2020 NPCs still have pathing issues and they backtrack constantly.

My 2 cents.

To explain this part. There is a public and a private instance of the DRM's. In the public version the starting event is on a timer as a filler while you wait for others to join. Once the timed event at the start is over, the instane is locked for new players. They want the public and private version to be identical, so the private version have the same event and timer, while it serves no purpose.

As for the rest. I personally only play public versions and your first two points are invalid for them.

yeah I ran them with my guild. as other CM content we do, you would expect better rewards than doing the normal mode, like fractals for instance. these don't have any additional rewards besides the achievement points for completing 5 of each, which really doesn't make them repeatable content after getting the achievs.

Just introduce an npc (or an option to an already existing npc) where you can talk to them to finish the event faster as long as all prerequisities are fulfilled. They already used something like that for Rush guild missions, for example.

His points are not invalid. If someone disconnects from your private instance, they can't rejoin. That remains valid for groups no matter if others play public versions.

The timer seems to have gotten adjusted in private versions though with the last patch, I wasn't paying attention closely if the timer was shortened or skipped ahead after event completion, but last night we didn't have to wait for 2 minutes. I'll pay a closer attention the next time I run the content.

I'm sure this is merely related to lack of resources available for the content.

I eluded to this that there might have been a change. I will pay closer attention next time I'm in a missions with guildies.

Welcome to content designed for the masses. To be honest, I personally don't mind. The enemies are dangerous enough for less experienced players so there is some learning effect happening along the lines of:"dodge or die before killing the opponent". I've also always been in favor of having easier story content. I'd much prefer dedicated challenging content myself which is optional (best example when it comes to story: Migraine (challenge mode) for Hearts and Minds). If that challenging content were to be made repeatable it would work better imo (story is easy enough for everyone, challenge mode for more dedicated players).

Rewards are rather low, then again the content is also very easy even on challenge mode. I guess we will have to wait and see how these missions develop.

Maybe it would have been better to release Champions completely in one go and then have a content drought until the expac.I mean yes, that would be annoying too, but it worked for HoT, so why not. Better than being stuck in the middle of a chapter with no way to save progress on our mains for months.

Personally, apart from the prologue in Grothmar, I don't like the Icebrood saga. I gave up on completing mastery tracks, because I got bored. As for the last episode, I entered the Brisban instance and once there, couldn't find the motivation to do it. I stopped. My problem is a simple but true lack of interest. It's no negative critic. It's purely a matter of taste. I don't like contents relying mainly on repeating same events/instances. And the whole saga, unfortunately for me, is almost that only.I do hope that the next exp pack will have a content with more variety. I'm not too optimistic, because a vast majority of players like things that I personally don't wish to see, like typically more elite specialisations (no, not everybody enjoy that) and underwater content. Since it's logic to aim at what the majority want, Anet will probably focus on those. Let's hope the content is big enough to also include many other things, like nice treasure hunts, "real" JPs, puzzles, and most of all, egoistic me wants a major change for WvW! :3

You get 3 times the medals for Cms from my experience so yes its better rewards but not really worth it.

And again Anet also made a mistake they did before:Once you are done with current masteries and rest being locked away, you earn ZERO xp - NO spirit shards nothing.Do you EVER learn? You gave us NO reason to play any of the Icebrood maps now.You cannot unlock the next one, so you're stuck wasting XP.Nice one, Anet... Stop repeating your past mistakes

And please can we have challenge mode when playing solo? These dragon missions are bearable solo, but no fun at all in party due to the weird and incorrect scaling.

This. Got to experience (1) today. Killed what little desire I had to do drms.

anyway,,,,,,,, i just want to say, as a story and lore nerd, Champions has be absolutely FEEDING me.

like.... gosh i could go on and on about the character drama, the lore implications, the world building? EOTN is an absolutely incredible little hub of interest. we have all 5 races and the pact, along with all of the factions we're recruiting. it's so great! Logan telling you that the Pact is strained is so good because it's conformation of the pact's trajectory. the ambient dialogue and the npcs that are there are just so cool. it's so cool to see the orders and the governments and the factions intermingled as they prepare for the upcoming battles. we got an update on the pale tree! Sigfast is there! Phlunt!

and the character drama? the fight between Braham and Taimi? the back and forth fishing for information between Caithe, the Commander, and Ryland? the friction between Jhavi and Jory? SO GOOD! they're both showing the stress of the current story and following through on story beats that were laid in advance (the asura and Primordus, what being a champion means, and how far is too far when it comes to war respectively) and i am so glad!

the writers are pulling out all the stops for this and I am so, so excited to see where it leads. that is all

While I do have some qualms with the Champions release, I do agree with the sentiments you express here. Though things feel like they've accelerated at a rate I'm not a fan of, I feel like the writers have done a good job with what they have to work with. I loved all the ambient dialogue in the Eye, old NPCs returning with new updates and information, as well as the character conflicts/interactions in the DRMs. Those aspects were really positive for me, and I hope that trend continues through Champions and beyond. Looking forward to seeing the EotN continue to expand in new ways.

Edit: To add, I also enjoyed returning to old maps for new stories. I wouldn't mind more of that in the future. I wouldn't even need instances with new changes to the environments like the DRMs have done with all the dragon-related chaos (though that is fun too). I would enjoy returning to the open world map of Gendarran Fields for new/smaller scale stories as well.

Gendarran Fields DRM CM feels ungodly long and punishing in a group of 5. Mobs get boon sharing, as if they had the old pre-pre-pre-pre-nerf Chrono in each group spamming boons, with each other. I noticed every trash mob had 20 stacks of Might, Fury, Retaliation, etc. Honestly, if you remove the boon share spam, or... just reduce the Boss' Health Pool by 40% it won't feel as painfully boring to do the CMs. My group had some people falling asleep while we did them due to how long they felt. Besides the boon spam and high health, the DRMs are alright. Except for the Gendarran Fields DRM. That one just seems so long for the nonexistent rewards that these DRMs drop.

An idea that may help alleviate the difficulty of getting people to do DRM CMs would be to make "dailies" in which you get one Mystic Coin for each DRM CM you complete, once per day. For example, if you have 3 DRMs, you get one Mystic Coin per DRM CM you complete. This would reset each day, like the Fractal dailies, at reset.

Bug Fixes in latest patch:Fixed a bug in which the Incinerating Shock Wave effect applied by the Destroyer of the Third Fortress inflicted 20 times the player's health in damage rather than the intended 20% of the player's health in damage.

:s No wonder so many of my party including me kept getting 1-shotted!

No matter how good you are, if the NPCs decide yo stand still and dilly dally, you pretty much have to reset.

or you use a super speed scrapper/ quickness firebrand to speed the npc.
