What would bring more players regularly to DRMs?

On a Saturday afternoon just a few weeks after DRM launch, and almost noone is grouping for the new content. Reward-to-play incentives are surely putting people off. Too much hassle for too little benefit. Four changes could I think immediately be made to incentivise people to play DRMs more:

  • Significantly increase the droprate for the Volcanic Stormcaller weapons. Nobody I've run DRMs with has ever received one, reflected in the 300-400g TP price - valuing this collection (complete with Mastery point) at an insane 4,800-6,000 gold. So please double, or even triple, the present pitiful drop rate.
  • Change the Prismatium Crystals home node drop to 3 a day like every other node, not the present 2.
  • Having Prismatium Crystals account bound is probably fine - but forcing players into a glacier-slow daily grind is not. Each of the 16 Dragon Slayer weapons takes 30 crystals. That's 480 crystals in total needed for the collection. Just relying on the daily node (if you can afford the 50g upfront) would take eight months of grind. Even adding the (capped) crystals from daily DRM runs will still take you more than 30 days of tedious grind. Again, consider boosting the DRM drop rate - or give an extra bonus for running three a day (whether regular or CM)
  • Allow craftable Prismatium Ingots to be sold on the TP. Players should be abler to grind for profit, if they choose.

What else would incentivise you to run more DRMs?

Some things I would like:

  • DRMs continue right after initial goals have been met (e.g. extinguish fires), instead of having to wait for the timer to finish
  • some better, interesting achievements tied to repeating this stuff again and again and again (maybe with some nice titles)

And yes, some better rewards would be nice, too. I'd rather to the daily in Fields of Ruin, even though it's kitten, and get 5 tokens, than do any DRM. Have done 8 DRMs in total so far, can't find the motivation to do them again, esp. because the bosses take so long to die without actually being fun.

Agree with all above.... I think anet forgets that a good portion of us have lives outside the game. if I only get an hour to play a day, I can assure you I am not going to be doing DRMs as the reward for doing them is lacking at best. Once you get done the acheivs (weapon collections excluded) and unlock all the items from the traders, there really is no reason to go in to do boring content over and over

A token system like the runic armor where you can buy acc bound volcanic weapons. Or more rewards or remove the 5 min time suck at the beginning. Or kick/replace afk's in public. I do the daily just for the 2 chests from the daily/kill 25 mobs just to be able to save those to unlock next masteries faster so I can play less drm's in the future

They're quite tedious on multiple repeats, a lot of standing around waiting for dialogue you've heard over and over again puts a lot of people off as does the waiting around for the actual mission part to start.

I think most people agree that these missions are a decent idea but they're poorly implemented as repeatable content..Imagine if you couldn't skip cut scenes in dungeons for example.. would be the same problem.

Even if droprate of volcanic stormcaller would be affordable and a good step, wouldn't care because of that heavy smoke particles hiding the weapons themselves? There is no point. If so, just make smoke-made weapons...

The time-reward ratio is bad, for the same time you can earn way more in fractals. Dunno who balance content rewards but it is a real mess right now, for the same time you aren't rewarded the same way.

I know that DRM wouldn't be that repetive if more differents paths followed by npcs. Like 3 instead of one, one chosen randomly when starting.

Can't really speak about prismacites, since I don t like the dragon slayers weapons.

Would like more unique rewards, now it's ebon vanguards, and they sell the same skins you can buy for karma in ebonhawke.... cheap.

Also, there should be more morale boost tiers if you go beyond objectives. And even, they should be instead, called reward boost. The more you work during the mission and faster you do it, the more you earn. Last boss can easily only have half of its health.

Not enough events. Really, if it was properly done, it would allow 10 players in them, 5 doing the hunt for the greater destroyer, 5 continuing defending the frontline against waves of elites rank foes using if they want environmental weapons.

Like today cashwe character name from NA hides. We do the whole thing w 4 so you know 1s hiding. We all linger at the end nothing. The rest leave I run off one way come right back and here he comes to loot the chest. Like he hid and waited till when he thought everyone left. Fix that garbage anet. No contribute no loot simple. I block lable report but of course hes right back in another drm.

sounds like a gold farmer, participation check is the only way to get rid of leechers. no play=no loot

What people hate :

  • Arbitrary wait times
  • Poor rewards

What DRM offers :

  • Arbitrary wait times
  • Poor rewards

Solution :Make DRM dynamic and always occurring, and make rewards better.They could make Awakened Invasions fun, but they make DRM so boring.No one wants to start every DRM rescuing civilians, building defenses etc. etc.

Have DRM instances open with ever occurring waves each with a boss.If map population falls to low for more than 10 minutes, the map will close and move people to another instance.Each enemy yu aided in killing awards participation, which ramps up to 400%, and each wave end will give rewards based on yur participation %

I'm glad they fixed the LFG issue with squads but them not telling us they fixed it in the patch notes is really all you need to know about how focused they are on it. DRMs are giving me side-project realness. We need more drops and more loot. Cut out the wait time when we finish the 3 beginning goals. People would be ALL over them if the enemies weren't models from the past 7 years; new destroyer skins (even minor changes) and they would at least have the illusion of something new.

Dailies like this:

  • daily fire extinguisher
  • daily mortar builder
  • daily civilian evacuate
  • daily golem repairs
  • daily destroyer slayer

Each with a separate reward, completing three of them completes a meta-daily with better rewards. Complete 5 meta-dailies, get a choice for a Dragonslayer Weapon, selectable stats, exotic.

Make the events inside the DRM count to the map daily events.

Let us purchase a Karmic Retribution buff that only works in DRM.

Give us reward-tracks for each allied faction, allow us to pledge to one of the factions to progress those reward tracks. Every red orb collected grants progress to the reward track.

Add more recipes for the new currency or give us an option to exchange it for LW3/4 currencies.

Honestly, for being marketed as being repeatable content, They lack in basic replayability.The Positives are they aren't difficult and groups don't have to worry about classes or skills really and can just join randomly, This is good if you want solo/casual players to repeat these instances. But then you have almost every other aspect of them taking away from that.

The whole instance is just a copy paste of the Story instance, they don't feel like they stand alone as their own things, I think removing some of the Dialog once you complete the story chapter could help here.The Bosses are unengaging, They need to Give the Bosses unique mechanics. The Harpy's fire tornados are a good start but even than It still needs more.Starting Events should Auto complete once all tasks are done, if you want replayability having minutes of downtime before the actual event even starts is counterproductive.And Most importantly, They need Better Rewards for the time you spend, Right now they take quite some time and have barely any value for the time you spend.

Basically if you want something to be replayed by a majority of players you have to make it easily accessible, profitable and fun to revisit, DRMs are accessible but fail at being fun or rewarding.

More rewards honestly (weekly Amalgamated Draconic Lodestone or something akin to that for CMs) and a simple cut to the chase once it's 5 people in the instance and all the pre-mission objectives are completed.

Maybe a high tyrian defense seal count for Volcanic Stormcaller weaponboxes at the vendor (or a recipe requiring all Dragon Slayer weapons unlocked), they are too rare right now if a mastery point is going to be linked to the collection.

you can give the best rewards in the world, if you have to kill mobs and bosses over and over again without any mechanics or difficultyit will remain boring and impossible without falling asleep.Drizzlewood Coast has exactly the same probleme.

the major problem of the drm it is indeed the stupid mobs without interest and the boss sponge which does absolutely nothing.Content is interesting when it allows you to think a little bit and pushes you to improve yourself. it's content that forces you to focus without spamming 1 like a robot.

Basically the complete opposite of these new missionsit was never the rewards that made a content really fun...

What else would incentivise you to run more DRMs?and MIAN question: for that reason we shoudl ask incentivise you to run more DRMs .. this is small part of LS ..

Making the next ones actually fun to play could be one way to increase participation.

Giving them better loot would be another thing that could cause more player participation.I definitely would play the one daily DRM, if it contained a chance to get invisible shoe boxes.

I have absolutely no interest in DRMs tbh.. They are just so boring with waaaay too much unskippable crap. I don't want more boring PvE content, give us some new competitive content.. Give us an additional "Eternal Battlegrounds" WvW map or maybe even rework Stronghold to not be a complete clownfiesta if you can't afford designing something new or a full team queue next to solo/duo Q.. Make 2v2/3v3 a permanent ranked mode or whatever.. Just pleeeease no more unnecessary PvE crap.

Well they are just not interesting to play for me, not sure why exactly. I don't enjoy doing them. The dialogue is tedious to listen to, the environments don't look that interesting. Make them funny. Make them have more exciting action or non-battle mechanics. Make them look awesome. Anything.

And for being kinda boring and basic, the bar for most of the LFG groups is ridiculous (am on EU). No, I will not bring a META build or any kill proof to join a DRM thank you.
