Ranged Warrior and other melee Classes

Hello, I have been trying to play a different Class than the ones I have tried up to this point but I love ranged classes. I understand that I can turn a melee class as warrior into ranged but I still dont know how can that happen since there are restrictions to weapons for classes. Is there proficiency to be acquired along the way so that a warrior or a thief can use a ranged weapon? and at what level will that happen? Thanks

Viper gear, sword/torch and longbow berserker and you got your ranged warrior.Guess you can go core warrior with dual sword and longbow but not as good as berserker imo.You can either go core thief dual pistols or deadeye ( thief elite) can use rife or dual pistols.

EditYou can use all weapons form level 1 just equip them.

There are no ranged or melee professions in GW2, they all have access to at least 1 ranged and 1 melee weapon right from the start and even if you only have the base game.

For example all warriors can use a rifle or longbow. You do not need to do anything special to enable this - just find or buy a rifle or longbow and equip it just like you would with any other weapon - your warrior now has ranged skills.

Thieves can use showbows and pistols which are both ranged weapons (and again this is all thieves, you do not need to own any expansions or do anything special to set this up, just equip the weapon). If you have Path of Fire and train and equip the deadeye specialisation they will also be able to use rifles.

You might need a specific expansion to gain access to some of the stat combinations recommended to make these weapons more effective, but that's only to make them as strong as possible, you can use any weapon with any stats you like and if you don't have access to the stat combinations recommended by build websites there is often a substitute which is easier to get.

The Longbow + sword build above is one such method for warrior, the other is to run Rifle.

Basically go Str: 3/2/1 Disc: 1/2/3 Berserker:3/1/1.

There is an Arms Variant, but it requires a buff that disappears when you mount up. Get into Berserk Mode and use Gunflame. Rifle can build Vulnerability fast and Volley is a fairly decent burst that will force out dodges before you ping them with Gunflame.

Every Warrior has access to Longbow and Rifle.Just find one and equip them in your first or second weapon set.

All Thieves have access to Pistols and Shortbow. Deadeyes (PoF) also gain access to wet noodle pewpews Rifles. These can be equipped in your first or second weapon set as well.

Dragonhunter would be your best bet right now. In fact, everyone should just roll a guardian since they can do everything and Anet is never gonna adress that. That said, for the dragonhunter you need to reach level 80 and unlock the spec, which generally means playing through the HOT storyline and doing the HP in the heart of maguuma. As DH you bring a lot of burst damage and crowd control, or you could go FB and be able to pretty much everything else, with a staff to act as a ranged support.I say DH because it's the only melee class with a meta build, that still allows you to change into other roles whenever you want. You could also try the revenant, but people generally want you to spam alacrity on them or gtfo, which limits the fun you're going to have in group content. You could try something like ranged warrior, but doing anythng outside of open world will get you harassed to the point where you may want to uninstall the game.Or maybe I was just very unlucky...

You did actually, "one could simply get the 200 points from the base game world completion, Drytop and Silverwastes." But yes Testimonies are one of the best ways to unlock elite specs hands down.

Aside from Rangers and Engineers, those are some strong and powerfull ranged builds for high end solo playing and dangerous game:

*Pistol Dagger Trailblazer Deadeye: extremely high single target dps, good mobility and sustain, very evassive (credit to Lord Hizen for the build, gameplay in his YT channel).

*Short bow/swords power Renegade: huge sustain, extremely tanky, good AoE cleave, playable both at range and mele (credit to Paper Roll, gameplay in his YT channel). This builds also works with commander + cavalier stats replacing Rune of the Erth by Leadership runes, I find this Renegade variant better that the ones beased on other stats, my preferences would be: commander + cavalier > trailblazer variants > viper vraiants > berserker variants.

*Double staff Rabid Mirage: perma evade, protection and regeneration, maybe the strongest of the three, can melt PvE content literally without a blink. Again cretdits to Lor Hizen for the build (gameplay at his YT channel):

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PigAYZlZwwYVMEmJWyP+PNA-zRIYcUxXGZmChUB6dACXP8Wqy3C-e

Those are for now the strongest solo PvE RANGED builds which I saw; any of them can deal with most of champions and a lot bounties at range without the need of other people, so can level Fractals and raids effortless.
