Definitely want alchemy based engineer, like a plague doctor. Basically, currents engie specs are: core=turrets and kits "jack of all trades". Hot=mechanics Pof=laser and light manipulationSo maybe bioengineering with poisons imbued weapons and flasks. Cybernetics would be a way too.

Dunno, man. Plague doctor might not be the best idea in these Insert Adjective times. But some other form of an alchemist might not be a bad idea.

  1. The Ranger should get the true meaning of its name with a Rifle spec. It will be a power DPS spec which should be viable for Open World, WvW, and possibly Fractals if not Raids as such
  2. The Warrior getting Dual wielding spec for Greatswords for a Power DPS spec suited for Raids, Fractals, and PvP
  3. The Necro getting Sword/Sword Condi spec for all game modes
  4. The Revenant getting Spear and Shield based tank spec for Raids, Fractals, and Dungeons
  5. The Thief getting a permanent stealth mode Longbow based Condi spec, suitable for Open World, PvP and WvW
  6. The Engineer getting a Warhorn Shield based Heal spec suitable for Raids, Fractals, and PvP
  7. The Ele getting a Weaponless spell-based Power DPS spec, suitable for Open World,
  8. The Mesmer getting a Trident based power DPS spec suitable for all game modes
  9. Hopefully, a new class of a Monk that can be a Staff based DPS or Heal spec suitable for Raids and Fractals

Besides the above, it is much speculative that the Tengu is going to be the next new spec. Several players are excited about it, but it will be nice that instead of giving a Parrot shaped spec, the Devs can think of some more diverse specs especially Ogre/Troll/Jotun and especially the Krait and Largos.

Last but not the least, please bring some decent facial hair options for all specs, particularly Norns if possible.

Sincere RegardsSunny/Eagleseye

I agree with some of this but there's some changes to that list I think would be nice too.

Ranger and rifle would be nice.

Warrior could maybe get Staves and we can finally get our Dervish

Necro Sword/sword would be neat

Revenant: Instead of a spear/shield why not guns. Us revs only have bow and a hammer for long range compared to other classes :(

Thief: Greatsword

Engenieer with a Warhorn would be neat. So would bow. Be different and be like. They have no tools so they improvise with what they can find or a mace

Ele: Hammer or Mace as well then we can all be Thor without a skill or a skin or using rev or engi elite

Mesmer: Main hand pistol to go with the off hand pistol

Guardian: War horn. Call down the wrath of whatever they worship

Also giving ele's and Engineers a second weapon for underwater would be nice.

For races please give us Tengu. They already share a skeleton with Charr to a degree <3

I don't like any of those suggestion except no.9.

  1. I'm not a rifle fan. I'd rather see an overhaul of the ranger's longbow skills.
  2. I hate greatsword on a warrior. The animations alone look ridiculous, among other things. I prefer the guardian's use of the greatsword by far.
  3. Necro Sw/Sw? No, thanks. It's a necromancer, not Tauriel or Legolas. (Hey, now this would be a cool thing for rangers! ;) )
  4. Spear? Will not get introduced as a land-based weapon.
  5. Are you kidding me? More perma-stealth?!
  6. We are having too many heal bots already. It should have been reserved for Guardians. There are too many mixed up professions already.
  7. Oh no. I hate the fact that you can't attack while in Firebrand tomes mode. You really want to do that to yet another profession, especially one that should be doing DPS?
  8. Trident? See 4.

Imagine if Cantha Elite Spec for Engineer is about become a Heavy Weapon Specialist. Thus gaining access to Railgun, Gatling Gun, Ray Gun and etc or being able to modify their weapons into more heavy hitting attacks thanks to their tech modifications created by those who specialize in this Elite Spec.

Feel like cantha is better suited for perhaps an alchemist spec, or something more general. Heavy weaponry including futuristic stuff like a ray gun would go well if we ever get an expansion dealing with some of the concepts anet never used from the utopia GW1 campaign, like a 4th human homeland and a timeless isle in the mists. Since obviously if time travel is an element engineers can get whatever weapons they want

  1. No that intrudes on engineer territory too much.
  2. Out of all the things it could be, this is the most creative thing you want?
  3. We already have sword, c'mon.
  4. Yes please, add lands spears ANet, spears were the main weapons of wars, what are you doing?
  5. Nightmare to balance probably.
  6. Interesting, but personally I want a true turret specc, much more fitting, and also, making engineer a staple healer has been attempted numerous times and was always abandoned, why do you think elixir infused bombs were scrapped?
  7. No weapon? That's creative and interesting, and also harkens on the fantasy of using the elements as weapons without need for a handheld catalyst.
  8. I'm all for bringing maritime weapons on land.
  9. New class is probably unlikely. Monk doesn't sound very creative though, oh yes, let's add a staff class, even tho Thief can already be this.

A new race would be coo, but birdmen feels like the easy choice. I'd rather see Kodan. Their mythology, religion, and magic is fascinating. Remember the kodan flame weapon? That could be an awesome and exciting new addition to the game, and a way to couple a cool race with a new magic fire type weapon. And yes please, more facial hair, we don't even have all the styles the NPC's are rocking, c'mon.

Why do we need another turret spec? Just because core engineer turrets are drastically underwhelming, it doesn't mean that we should try and recreate the wheel here. ANet has already created another minion spec for engineer once in the form of gyros, and those had to be completely reworked into wells because minions are reliant on AI, which just doesn't work well in this (or any) game. That's not to say core engineer doesn't deserve a turret rework using the ammunition system (although it's never getting one) but we don't need another spec dedicated to that. Also, engineer is a staple healer in the minute in WvW, because of the cleanse and healing value core engineer has with medkit and purity of purpose, and the utility that scrapper provides with superspeed and stealth. The reason why it's not popular in PvE is because meta healers in that gamemode aren't necessarily the best healers, but can output the most offensive boons and provide the most unique buffs. Engineer as it stands can not keep up 5 or 10 man might, alacrity, or quickness, nor does it have any buffs like spotter or frost spirit baked into its defensive traitlines.

When you argue classes you usually do so from a PvE perspective for the sake of brevity and it being the meat of the game, unless specified otherwise. Turrets are a very engineer esque thing, it doesn't at all lend itself well to the class if they are garbage. They should be a core strength, and there are ways to make them so, and that's what I'm asking for.

Regardless, what I was doing by bringing up the example of heal scrapper was to show that there is no fundamental issue with engineer being a healer. The only reason it's not used in PvE is because it can't provide enough boons/unique buffs, which is something an elite spec could easily change.

They should be a core strength, and there are ways to make them so, and that's what I'm asking for.I think you may have misunderstood me here. I don't want turrets to be useless. I would love if they used the ammuntion system for overcharges (allowing them to do damage). I would love if there were more inventions traits to augment turrets, or if they could put out unique buffs (like ranger/renegade spirits), or if there was just any reason to use them above the toolbelt skills. But that just means core engineer needs reworking. That doesn't mean that engineer needs a whole new elite spec dedicated to turrets, especially when scrapper already has the mechanical aesthetic. There are just so many unique ways to take an engineer elite spec without copying core utilities or stealing scrapper's theme.

I see gyros as a defeat. They tried to add a new minion mechanic instead of fixing turrets. I, to this day, do not see why. They could have fixed them and used the slots for creative inventions, like you say. And even then, even now, who uses any gyro but barrier and the one you get automatically that can res people and do dazes if traited for it? Especially since gyros are slaved to scrapper which means no holo forge, which is bad since holo forge is just so good for adding damage to the class. They should revisit the core engineer, apply fixes, and work on refining the elite speccs.
