Claim buff needs nerfs and siege/upgrade times needs fixing

WvW should be played around objectives. And there are massive issues with Stat/upgrade status oriented defending instead of siege oriented one:

List of what is wrong:

  1. Siege HP got doubled with chance that made crits and conditions affect siege but siege damage to siege wasn't doubled
  2. Shield gens block all projectile siege weapons and ACs
  3. Guild golems cost too little supply
  4. Claim buff provides too many combat stats
  5. Claim buff provides movement speed that makes clouding possible even without swiftness (clouding is unfun for attacker)
  6. Upgrade times of keeps and castles is too fast since autoupgrades, there is no logic in towers, keeps and castles requiring same amount of dollies.
  7. Packed dolyaks shouldn't count for 2 for upgrade, only provide more supply income than speedy ones.
  8. Dolyaks get 90% damage reduction when escorted
  9. Difficulty scaling on regarding distance from objectives isn't linear anymore but has massive leaps between claim buffs making fighting sweet spot where both sides stand a chance almost impossible

Attacker experience as it is:1.. You can't play around passive stats like you can with siege: patience taking them down, counter siege, draining supplies2.. You stand no chance against equally strong group that has claim buff + presence of the keep: 200 power (6%+ damage), 200 precision (6%+ damage), 200 toughness, 200 vit (10% survivability). This totals to over 25% difference, imagine one side having 25% more combat effectiveness in any PvP game. Needless to say, fighting inside keeps is impossible as it is.3.. Long range trebs are useless due to keep being always full of supply and existance of shield gens. And the fact that you opted for trebs means you lack numbers and claim buff will mean you lose any fight.

  1. Enemy often doesn't even need commander to defend meaning you won't get fights even after feeding them bags at their keep

Defender experience:

  1. Defending siege is useless against shield gens
  2. Stuff upgrades so fast and is so easy to defend with just combat stats that enemy won't even come to your borderland/corner
  3. Small groups are dead: Can't even slow down blobs with siege, small groups don't attack because stats make combat unfair
  4. Guild golems with quickness just melt gates and trebs behind gate tickle rams/golems

What should be done:

  1. Claim buff should be tuned down: +30 stats instead of +100 and +10% movement speed instead of +25% (Defender nerf)
  2. Treb damage to siege increased: Maybe add crit indicator on siege hits for QoL (Attacker nerf)
  3. Guild golems should cost 80 supply instead of 50 (Attacker nerf)
  4. Keeps and castles should take longer to upgrade: 100%/200% increase in required dolyaks (Defender nerf)
  5. Escorting dolyaks should only provide 50% damage reduction (Dolyak escorting nerf: no more minstrel abuse)
  6. Shield gens shouldn't block siege fire but rather pulse 25% damage reduction that also affects siege (attacker nerf mostly)

expected results:

  1. Fighting will be more fun inside keeps for attacker so there will be more attacking -> Thus more defending also -> WvW activity goes up
  2. Dolyak escorting/sniping scene might revive with increased upgrade times and dolyaks being able to be sniped
  3. Guild golems wouldn't be "better rams" 100% of the time and WvW wouldn't be p2w
  4. You could fend off or slow down larger groups with smart siege placement with shield gens not blocking siege anymore
  5. Long range trebbing would revive
  6. Small groups would enjoy WvW more as they could be proactive and not lose to just stats
  7. Dueling scene might revive with claim buff not being extra rune set advantage for one side virtually everywhere on map
  8. Tryhard scene might revive due to it being obvious again who are the best players and them not losing to 3rd best players + claim buff stats.
  9. Players wouldn't need to stack so much on servers just to have fun: Outnumbering and outskilling enemy wouldn't be required to attack things and win.

Never mind the threads you continue to post with upgrade timer info.

It’s spam.

  1. Average 5 month interval to raise awareness on obvious glaring infrastructural issues that are often left unspoken is not spam.
  2. My intention is not spam but wellbeing of the gamemode. Persons intentions matter.
  3. The arguments for and against something tend to evolve over time
  4. Giving up easily to get your point across is not a virtue like you indicate

Please, give arguments against the recommended changes if you really don't find them relevant enough to be brought up.

If it’s obvious, why aren’t others stating it? And why not use your old threads?

  1. My intention is not spam but wellbeing of the gamemode. Do note that peoples intentions matter.

While intentions matter, it’s not the crux of my point.

  1. The arguments for and against something tend to evolve over time

Yes, but your points have not.

  1. Giving up easily to get your point across is not a virtue like you indicate

I never indicated that. Do not put text in my posts.

Please, give arguments against the recommended changes if you really don't find them relevant enough to be brought up.

They have been argued both for and against already. In your posts.

Which is likely why you didn’t pull any of the other three back up. When people look at tired arguments they just move on.

The old threads are already so far gone in the thread history that it doesn't matter if I create a new thread, I wouldn't have if they were still even close to front page. Maybe I preferred different layout and title this time. Also you can see the date of old threads which can affect if people click on it.

  1. The arguments for and against something tend to evolve over time

Yes, but your points have not.My intentions are 2:
  • Reaching the developers so we can get this fixed
  • Getting good enough arguments for and against the topic

Overall convincing random people that don't put any effort in to get this thing fixed doesn't interest me too much. For example if you commented something as simple as "Hey yea this should be fixed", you would be contributing to fixing it.

  1. Giving up easily to get your point across is not a virtue like you indicate

I never indicated that. Do not put text in my posts.Well tbf you didn't suggest using old threads either and from my experience reviving and pumping up old threads is treated with more disrespect on forums. So I chose the other option to bring the topic up again.

Anyways, back to the topic. What do you think about claim buff and current siege balance compared to pre-HoT?
