What's your favourite episode of Icebrood Saga so far?

Well guess I can give rates since no news maps seems to come.

Prologue: 18/20Pros: Varieties of events, story is nice, very cool ambient dialogues, nice never ending festival map overall.Cons: Don't have any in mind. Maybe not being able to enter war room or bangar office outside of story.

Bjora East: 14/20Pros: The boneskinner stalking the escort event, doing traps around with dead corpses, boneskinner event. The meta assault on jora keep, the whispersStory is okayish, raven sanctum cool. The puzzles.Cons: Copy pasted events in each svanir camp. Many areas of the map feel dead without event, or sometimes just the same kill that patrol again and again. The trials do bring some fresh air through.

Bjora West: 10/20Pros: The creepy visions, the boneskinner shrine, the puzzles, the essence chests.Cons: Drakkar isn't impressing. It could have been on surface, coming out of ice like shadow behemoth and fracturing the ice and makes appear waters that would freeze you if you fall in it. We could have received assault from svanirs, elementals and essences imbued foes simultaneously. The copy pasta of events is a nightmare: either bring fish, cut tree or destroy ice shard/ protect ritual everywhere... event farm fest.

Drizzlewood South: 16/20Pros: The story is cool, I like siege and destroying things. Good idea of using ley line infused foes minibosses all around as camp keeper and cache defender. The map looks beautiful. Ton of good ambiant dialogues again. Expressful NPCS with ton of emotes even some we don't have. The events are varied between defusing mines, shooting copters, killing foes forces assaulting us... very fun.Cons: Some story choices are questionable and it removes some points to rate: why killing Smodur? The choices don't change anything and you drop a bomb anyway... why killing steel warband? Why killing vishen?

Drizzlewood North: 13/20Pros: Somehow a more push forward tactic, capture and go further. Using cannons, copters dropping troop, invading the citadel it isn't a bad map overall can't say it.Cons: The story is very bad and that why the rate isn't higher. Bangar got chained, Ryland corrupted... bad, I know I would rather seen them fighting along us maybe it would have required a map south of grothmar were we eliminate last stigmatized and get thanked of the charr and bangar being reasoned by almorra and her not dying.The conversion machine is teased a lot but nothing about it, no lore, how it has been made, sorry but a machine that look like containment chamber from twilight arbor it's strange. There are cool new models, those bulky shield barrier charrs, but they are underused, only able to make a wall? Expected strong shockwave or something.Some spots around empty of events, and claw of jormag reuse is cool but meh. Same mechanics....

As indication: Chapter 1: 6/20 Chapter 2? Maybe same rate, 6/20. DRMS could be the 15/20 thing is it was better thought, see the post someone made on reddit about how to make them better. Currently poor rewards, and I hate sponge bosses, so long too. Story part, without talk option, and only minimum number of npcs is sad too, saw instances with way far more npcs and assets in them.

I'm very angry that it seems you cut out the part shown in trailer implying centaurs and I guess, kraits. I expected 2 more maps instead of 4 chapters, one left of drizzlewood and one north or harathi hinterlands, making somehow a link between core maps and icebrood saga. Again, angry and sad.

YES! I'd love to see the Verdant Cascades return (with perhaps Tengu trying to keep out any Charr and their civil war), and some way to feel the gap between Harathi, Snowden and the Cascades. Isn't Anvil Rock supposed to be there? Just imagine this region filled with leftovers of Stone Summit Dwarves who wish to assault southern areas (they are corrupted from Primordus I think in the strike mission no?) and a spot where more destroyers would start appearing.

Yeah, I agree.I was initially thinking that they were implying we would get another map that had a lot of centaur somewhere in or near the verdant cascades, which would be amazing.

Now, I guess the centaur from the trailer are just in indication to this next episode’s subject matter, such as Lake Doric?

Probably the prologue which is kind of bittersweet- the build up which doesn't exactly represent the entire direction of the saga is the "best."

They didn't even bother to give us a new log-in screen for it.

I really thought the icebrood saga ( which has very little to do with the icebrood, and is just the name of corrupted dragon minion) was going to go in a different direction.

I thought it would have been epic if we would have gotten equal time with each Great Spirit which to me is what seems to be what should have came after drizzlewood instead of the DRMS. We got so much Charr stuff and very little Norn. Felt like a 70/30 split.

I feel as it someone rewrote the narrative on this story and lobotomized the Norn parts out of the story. It's this reason I have not enjoyed the Saga yet. When they started talking about the saga they spoke about giving more char and norn culture. Up to this point I've gathered more about Norn Culture from creating a new character than I have playing the saga up to this point.

! After watching that again they really didn't go into the Norn information like they did the Char. They spoke more to the environment and spirits more than anything else. I guess information on the missing spirits is part of Norn History but it does not really get into their core culture. Every thing we have learned thus far has been through interaction between Braham and Eir and for most of that Braham acts like a child throwing a tantrum which does not really align with a society of people trying to increase their legend. Maybe we will learn more but I'm not getting my hopes up.

!! I was really hoping for new dominant Norn characters to interact with. See how they interact with Braham and with your character whose legend is pretty big and may not be a Norn. Maybe some more information on why your legend matters if they never seem to interact with one another outside of moots. Maybe go into explanation on the upbringing of a Norn child. Like Braham growing up without his real mother.

Braham's story, due to him being a Norn, technically counts as Norn lore.We got the few tidbits about the spirits still kind of doing their job when appeased, despite being corrupted.And don't forgot about owl not having been consumed after all.Also, there is the part about Asgeir's story not being all that grand as it was being portrayed before.

These all are new Norn lore, even if it's not the kind that Norn players wanted.

If so then your and my opinion of immersion is different. Because the portrayal of the future content made it out to be something grandioso lore extravaganza. That holds true for the char but not so much for the norn in my opinion.

I certainly don't think it's immersive.But I knew from the start that Arenanet wouldn't pull anything grand for the Norn anyway.

That said, it's not that we got nothing.The lore we got still is more than Norn ever got since release (which also shows the poor handling of Norn).And I think it's also more lore than WoW's Nightelves ever got in one expansion.

To clarify, Norn culture to ANET in IBS was a nice amount of lore for one Great Spirit and its mastery, 3 corrupted spirits and their shenanigans, one talk with Wolf, some bear and raven skins, 3 corrupted spirits adventures, random Otter fun, and some Owl lore crumbs <---I don't crap on effort because this IS a nice "amount" of content its just not what we were probably expecting. I would have scrapped all the otter, owl and corrupted spirits content for greater focus on literally the other Great Spirits that have been with us since the beginning of the game with maybe a JUICY lore twist like Jormag is actually Koda (or Koda are actually ancient Norn) or something...

Its mind-bogling to me that (during the games timeframe) there is no direct Norn involvment with Jormag. Sure we had Jhavi, Braham and a few random shaman but what about everybody else? Is Jormag not THE enemy to the Norn and they should have some sort of enclave or send more support beyond a few shaman? They sure as heck wouldn't keep things in the hands of the Vowbreaker again.

I chalk this up to constraints in time, story, focus and resources which is unfortunate. This game is accruing so much lore debt.

Well, episode is literally tied with map. You explore map when doing episode stuff usually. However, im not saying they should do Grothmar Valley 2.0 anytime soon.
