What kind of skins do you like?

Recommended Posts

More swords and mace would be nice. Lots of room for growth. But pls do more realistic, exquisite looking weapons less plastic, cartoonish ones with many effects. Most welcome are the historically accurate ones. Those that look heavy, some fine details, with a good balance good grip, and can smash things up pretty good. :)

When stowed it should show sword in scabbard if any. So much ideas on pinterest nowadays. Make them... Put at BLTC for us gamers... <3 <3 lolAnd discard the uglier ones.. :3 Time to upgrade the GW sword section!

It is not a matter of size, but of less "silly and cartoonish".There are lots of historical weapons out there, but 99% of swords are not like Bonetti's Rapier, but a big glowing paddle you wave around. This applies to almost all other weapons (historical pollaxe please, to have one hammer that can actually be wielded by a person). Oh, more medium armour without a coat? A gambeson? A Milanese or Gothic/Maximillian style plate armour?

You two must not like the legendary weapon skins much, do you? :smile:If so, i'm so with you, i hate most of them, they're so ugly!

Well, you poll is about size if weapons, which I think is not the problem when the skin looks like a weapon that can be wielded by about 70% laws of physics and 30% magic.I can put another skin on my legendary any time, I just have to have one that looks historical.Historical arms and armour does not look plain and awful (google Munich town guard sword) and GW2 hasn't embraced a lot of swords from different RL cultures. There is no German Langmesser, no Greek Falcata, no Indian Pata or Tulwar and no south east asian swords at all, if I am right skimming the gallery. We have some that look close to historical weapons, like Caudacus rapier or a Roman gladius type sword. But there are only a few of those.

I don't know if someone from the DEV team is reading this but I really want to give you some money but for God's sake is it so hard to produce a new armor set?I spend at least EUR 100 per month on virtual entertainment, but in your game there is nothing to spend this money on.I suggest hiring a student for a second shift and let him do more armor after hours

There are a couple of things that drive me nuts on some of the skins in the game. Like sharp and/or pointy bits poking out everywhere that would only serve to destroy yourself IRL. Like the Mistward Warboots that have pointy bits on the inside of the leg - pointing directly up at your femoral artery on your other leg. IRL, you go running with those on and you're going to stick yourself in the thigh and bleed out in 30 to 55 seconds.

Another item that bugs me is where some of the skins attach to the body when "sheathed". The Heroic Dragonsblood Sword is particularly bad - it attaches to the character model at the hips fairly low on the handle of the sword, instead of at the cross guard. This makes the tips always clip on the ground, regardless of terrain. It's really bad aesthetically and would probably put me in a murderous rage if someone treated one of my blades like that in real life.

The only criteria I have for preferred skins are those that don't look like one might kill themselves while wielding them, or fall over while carrying them (even assuming asura magic tech attachment device for carrying on back).

For example all the random spikes on various sword hilts that appear more likely to take your own arm off. xD

Sunrise/Twilight I give a pass because the paint effect is too beautiful.

I like skins that look natural and not bulky or silly. My favourites are Prince Rurik cape and Spellforged outfit and I look at GW2 with optimism that the game designers would work at some pretty armour pieces like this one: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/overlordmaruyama/images/3/37/Touch_Me_Databook.png/revision/latest?cb=20170319002900Or this one:https://mlpnk72yciwc.i.optimole.com/cqhiHLc-RkvNoabS/w:600/h:600/q:75/https://bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/MAFEX-Mandalorian-Beskar-Armor-001.jpg

Medium to Large-ish. It depends a great deal on the design its self. I find damn near all of the scepters to be badly designed: they're often too short, too bulbous at the end, and too often indistinguishable from maces. I'd been using the same scepter for my elementalist for almost eight years (classic Pact scepter) because it was pretty much exactly what I think most scepters should have as their general size and shape.
My opinion is much the same about one handed sword, or arming swords as they're call historically. Even as far back as GW1 I felt that they were making arming swords just a little too short, and after a few years of watching Shadiversity's videos on swords this has only been reinforced. Swords are supposed to give you reach and the arming swords of this game don't as often do that, though I will say that they aren't as bad as the above mentioned scepters, I have a much easier time finding one handed sword that I like.

I wouldn't mind some simple looking weapon skins for once.Sometimes the gaudy huge swords do not fit my aesthetic at all.

It's simply vexing to find a simple, single edged sword, but yur only options are :

  • A Scimitar (the best choice so far)
  • A Katana which for some reason is extremely long and glows green
  • Something that's basically a cleaver, and a very long one
  • One of many giant swords

Yes i know, but the question was, within those you consider good, which ones do you maybe like better? Like, which one looks more optically pleasing and balanced? :smile:To me, the larger skins tend to look more balanced, especially on a charr. That's partly because of the charr size of course.

And now i realize i forgot the 4th "no preference" option.

In general, I like medium sized weapons. But.... I'd like weapons to a have fixed size. Right now, you can have a weapon, nicely sized on your Charr or Norn, that just is tiny on an Asura, while it would have looked awesome on an Asura if it had been the same size as on that Charr or Norn.

You mean like if a norn is carrying a 7 foot long sword it should stay 7 feet if an asura picks it up? Yeesh.

Just think of it like:If you could have one skin you really love in any size you wanted, would you rather have it be small (realistic size), medium or unwieldy large?

I noticed that as well, it's like the weapons aren't uniformly scaling across races.A big huge sword or greatsword, or even a long scepter look just about right on a Charr, but look a bit too big for a human. Asuras have all sorts of weird problems with weapons and how they look on them as well.
