After some further investigation, it does seem to work on my other characters facial hair, but refuses to work on my mustache.
Fancy Norn Mustache did nothing wrong.
That is an incredibly powerful mustache. Allowing it to continue breaking out of stone unchecked could have long-reaching consequences, so I've alerted the relevant team and they're looking into it.
(Also thank you for the screenshot. It made my morning.)

The response alone made my day. The commentary in this thread made it even better.
I'll keep an eye out for mustache related patch notes.

No need to wait, we figured it out. Your character's mustache was already dark brown or black, right? The mustache is being changed by the infusion, it's just that the infusion happens to interact with that particular mustache in that particular color in a way that the changes aren't very noticeable. The dev who was looking into the issue shared a few screenshots with me to help illustrate and I've included them below. No hair changes were made between images:

It is. It is affecting your mustache, but the changes are minimal against your original color. That said, we are passing this on to more relevant teams to make them aware that this is A Thing That Is Happening.

Huh, it really is a mysterious mustache after all then. I guess i'll have to live with it for the time being. But if somehow possible, i would really appreciate it if it would end up in line with, well, every other type of facial hair out there i guess.
I think i saw another post in the discussion forums earlier where someone mentioned that the infusion turns their asura's hair into a black blob, as well. I would have to find that post again, though.

What is left of the Deldrimor Dwarves tell tales of Norn blessed by the spirits of the wild with facial follicles so powerful that not even the power of the Great Dwarf can contain their lustrous mustaches, grown as if to defy the will of Gods, Dwarven and Human alike.
It is hard to tell if it is awe or fear in their stony voices, but one thing is certain... when they speak of the Ebonstache it is always for respect of these Norn of Legend.
They say that if one were to weave the Ebonstache hairs into a whip that it could cleave the mightiest Elder Dragon in two, but sadly these hairs defiantly remain in place, as if bound by wax stronger than the finest Deldrimor steel, never to fall out or to be plucked.
They even say that no blade can trim the mighty Ebonstache, that it is only by the mighty will of the Norn that bare them that stops their growth.

I have the same issue with my Asura's hair. Looks like some black mat glued to the stone head.

What hairstyle/color is it? Do you happen to have a screenshot?
I just wanted to praise ANet even for taking care of these (cough cough) minor things so fast. I got the infusion but I didn't even care to use it (I wanted so see a preview, but I'm too lazy to even pay 24 silver to remove it, in case I don't like it). I wish the devs I work with, in my company (which is even bigger), were so efficient... Give me a cookie
About the moustache... actually I like how they look on @AysonCurrax.3254 's character. It they were also gray, they would lose some appeal. Not sure about the Asuran hair (in that case maybe they would look better petrified). But in the end we are talking about Asura. They always look bad.
Unrelated, but kudos for the stretch emote with Charr: the animation with the back up and the paws stretched forward, like real cats, made me very happy
Seeing as we have some dev attention on this thread; any chance of fixing the deldrimor infusion interaction with legendary armour/gear? It's really buggy.
For example; i equip the infusion in an AR slot and nothing happens. I draw my weapons, the armour animates, still nothing. The armour 'stows' still nothing. If i swap equipment template with the infusion only in my lege set, i get the stone effect when i swap back to the lege set. If i draw my weapons now, the stone effect persists, but disappears when the armour 'stows'. If i put the infusion in something hideable (helmet, shoulders, gloves) i get the stone effect if i hide that item- the effect persists when i unhide the same item. If i go underwater, i get the stone effect but when i surface, it disappears. Also, the helmet seems frozen in a mid-animation frame when the infusion takes effect.
alternatively, will the eyes be fixed?
the stone skin is great, but the fact that the eyes remain 'fleshy' is very disturbing indeed
To defeat the dragons, see the good in them.
Zhaitan reunites lost ones, primordus creates fertile land, mordremoth spreads the green, and jormag..
..jormag? Who's that?
i got issues with the infusion also, it does not work when you have legendary skins (tried only with heavy armor from pve). when you enter combat or just draw your weapons the infusion covers only the skin of the character. looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/efcfwiN
not sure if its intentional, if yes then its a shame imo, i was looking forward to having the whole armor turned to stone ^^ (my armor is black and red, also tried it with another set thats white and blue, did not cover any part of it)
edit: just saw the comment from another person pointing this issue with lege armor out ^^;

It's the new Norn Spirit of the Wild - the Mustache!
The power of the stauche cannot be contained. Such manliness, such wow.
Rumor speaks of a Norn so powerful; his very facial hair can chip the Tooth of Jormag

See this is exactly what we're worried about. You get it.

Such a godly stache should never be contained. It should be free to show to all of creation.
The greatest enemy to improvement, is ignorance. But the desire to learn will cast ignorance into the fire.

Pls just permaban me by now so I can stop going back here

I can make one... there you go
:
The color is Black Grey, the hairstyle is the second on the first row on page 1 of the male Asuran hairstyles.

How cool it would be if we could get a "Preview" option on infusions.. Please oh please devs consider it.
