Ashantara.8731
Just follow these rules and you won't have any issues in the future:Never install anything in Program Files or Program Files (x64), unless it's system-related. Create your own Games folder on the drive's root directory (even better if on another, separate partition than the Windows one).Always add GW2 as well as any add-on installation folders outside of the GW2 directory to your antivirus's list of exceptions.

After a bunch of efforts to fix it it decided to work again all on its own.

You can be certain that it will happen again at some point unless you change something according to previous advice.
Robdalf.2561
Thanks to everyone who posted advice here. Just saw this problem and was able to resolve it by adding GW2 to Avast's exception rules. Good work GW2 community!🎉  1
Phoebe Ascension.8437
Adding screenshot folder to list of exceptions in avast didnt help. Emptying folder didn't help Making the map and all folder below it normal from read only did not help. Â Adding guild wars 2.exe in C/guild wars 2/ map to avast list of exceptions for 'apps' worked. So this seems to be the culprit.
