Update: (sorry for double post) I transferred the whole gw2 file to an external SSD with USB 3.0. It is running amazingly! I think the problem is Apple’s new file sorting system with HS. Just thought people should know about this workaround.

I must say I often feel that I am alone in genuinely finding that the game runs really well for me on my system. It's not quite up there with the performance of Windows yet but the game is more than playable, so thank you to the wonderful developers at ArenaNet.

@Mapisto.2154 said:Devs should really consider moving to metal/metal2 api if they want the game to be enjoyable on Mac.It would certainly improve things but the reality is that it's a considerable amount of work. With that said, I have done some quick reading on Metal and I was pleasantly surprised by how it does seem to be straightforward enough to port things to Metal, with the major exception of shader related fun.

With that said, I am not an engine dev and to be perfectly honest with you I'm fairly clueless about OpenGL and Metal in general so I wouldn't be surprised if someone who is experienced with game engine development tells me that I'm entirely wrong about everything.

I have the same issue that sunrun has reported. I'm not certain if it's related to sleep but I usually have to restart my MacBook Pro or the performance is too poor to be useable. After restarting I have no issues with the client.

OS: High SierraSystem: MacBook Pro 15-inch 2017CPU: 2.9Ghz i7Memory: 19GBGraphics: Intel HD 630 / Radeon Pro 560

@Dizz.5230 said:Anyone play GW2 with Razer Naga Chroma and having some kind keybinds(?) issue like mine?Ex:I set F1~F5 skill to alt+1~5, and I usually use Naga to press 1~5.When I press alt+1 try to use F1 skill, most of time it will cast weapon skill 1 instead and then do nothing.Sometimes it stacks, cast F1 skill after weapon skill 1.I have to use weapon skill 1~5 first then try to use F1~F5 skill in the middle of weapon skill casting action to perform a F1~F5 skill.

PS: This issue won't happen if use keyboard only.

Having this issue with a G600 mouse also.

Whenever I try to use a modifier key +number (on mouse) it doesn't work. but modifier key +number (on keyboard) does. This pretty much breaks the game entirely for me. Certainly won't be buying PoF until this is fixed.

I have a G300 mouse. If I put the shift key on my mouse, it get stucked every time (in fact, it become a Caps Lock key!).

@Talek.6795 said:Jon, can you please specify when could we see the other resolution options in the client?

It's under consideration. No guarantee though.

Thank you for you answer, but in that case can we have at least super small interface option? even smaller than small

@DrMORO.4627 said:Those who've jumped to High Sierra, maybe just maybe the new APFS format might also be the issue...?

I've been running the new client and HS betas for quite some time and I'd say that only in the last week or so have I experiences multiple crashes out of the client. I'm pretty certain it's a bug in the client, not HS.

Would you mind posting a screenshot on your GW2 frame rates when launched from your external SSD??I see if I can dig out a spare SSD to test this out, may I confirm if your external SSD is formatted with HFS+?

I'm on a 2015 Retina MacBook Pro (AMD M370X, 16GB RAM) and the Mac Native Client just slows to <10 fps every few seconds even on lowest graphics settings; boot camping into Windows 10 and I can play in Medium graphics settings with "reasonable" framerates.

Not sure how many, if any, Mac 64-bit updates have been applied since this few weeks, but still having problems of frequent crashes. After a fresh restart of the system, I can open the 64-bit app, log in, and click the play button. Here usually, the window turns blank and black and titled "Untitled", then after something with the initiation, the window title changes to 'Guild Wars 2', and I can play GW2 for about 10~20 minutes. Then, the GW2 game locks, and need to input my error notes to submit. Here, I sometimes loose the mouse control as well, yet I can mostly type things in. Using the 'Tab-+Command', I can switch out of the GW2 app to move the mouse cursor to the area where the 'submit' button is, and switch back to the GW2 app to send my error report. The crashed GW2 app can be closed here by clicking the OK button.I try to restart the GW2 again here, and log in, and click 'Play'. The 'Untitled' blank black window opens up, but for here, the entire Mac system freezes. No input works. Nothing. All I can do is to long-press the power button of my Mac to force-restart the entire system. After the restart, the GW2 will open up, and it playable again without the system freeze. Yet here again, after 10 to 20 minutes of play, the GW2 app with crash, and I report once again. Restarting the crashed GW2 will again result in the entire system to freeze, when clicking the 'Play' button at the 'Untitled' window, and does not go further to the "Guild Wars 2" window. Play a little, app crash, open app again, system freeze, Repeat. Not fun, but want to play.I am on El Capitan.Like most everyone here, happy to have a 64-bit client, yet desperately need a major fix and improvement in performance and stability, to justify the fun to 'grind' in GW2.

I am having the same issues as a lot of you. When I log into the 64-bit I can play for about 10 minutes before the mobs become invisible, the terrain disappears, and it looks like I am walking on air. Immediately logging out, restarting computer, and logging back into the game does not fix the issue. I have to wait almost an hour before I can play the game again. I went back to the 32-bit and tried to play, however, I get a different message error every time I am with a party or squad. The errors occur within minutes and sometimes seconds of each other making the game unplayable. My screen turns black and this is the error message I receive:

(m_sphereRadius + TOLERANCE >=m_boxExtent.x) II(m_sphereRadius + TOLERANCE >=m_boxExtent.y) II(m_sphereRadius + TOLERANCE >=m_boxExtent.z) IIA serious error has occurred that prevented the application from continuing. A report has been sent to ArenaNet to help determine the cause.

Is anyone else game acting like this? If so, how did you fix the issue?

If all goes as planned, we have several fixes in the next release.

Boy this makes me happy!! Sure hope if fixes the loading invisible mob issue, then I will be a happy camper!

I've been holding off with the High Sierra update for my Mac because of the GW Issues mentioned in previous post. If will be great to see updates for the client!

Hi, i just wanted to tell what is very great about the client.1) Native fullscreen windows ("Spaces"). Makes using the rest of the macOS while playing very nice.2) High resolution textures. Client handles high resolution textures very good.3) Resolutions, that are factors of the native resolution. This makes even low resolutions make look sharp.4) Runs good on lowest quality (which still looks great) on newest iMac 27".

I'm running the client just about maxed out on my hackintosh (i7-4790k / GTX 970 with very few issues.

Main ones I've noticed are that ambient occlusion can look a bit off at times (glowing character + lighting on the ground changes as I move the camera) and I get some... interesting graphical bugs (i.e. things flickering white) if I set shaders to high. Otherwise it really runs perfectly - I haven't experienced the crashes etc that other people are experiencing so I guess I should consider myself very lucky. Performance is really rather good - not far off the Windows client at all with the exception of the hitching, particularly when I first open the game.

Really though, I can't tell you just how happy I am with the current state of the Mac client. Even for those who are having issues, it seems to be so much better than the previous 32-bit Cider wrapper. I mean, to give some context to others, prior to this testing client being a thing I'd rather play the game just using Wine, even with the performance hit, before giving up and booting into Windows every now and then. Since this came out I've actually just gone ahead and wiped my Windows SSD which I now use for additional storage for video editing etc.

I took your advice and bought a little external SSD today and moved my game across. I have just tried it now. The difference is amazing. I have even managed to turn up the graphics a bit too for the first time in many years.I was at Amnoon and the casino coins event was on. Lots of people around. I was able to take part. No lag, no bumping into walls or falling off bridges.

I did see some flickering of some foliage but, meh, I can live with that.Oh and the game loaded so fast I almost got whiplash. Thanks so much for the suggestion @Ghad.1938. I am so happy with the Mac version now.

Edit because I always forget something. I am not on HS by the way. Just Sierra 10.12.6.
