Mount Race Timer?

Or are you asking when races start in each map? I have no idea but they look to be starting all the time when I am around

Sorry if it is not clear, I am looking for when the races start if anybody have the server time for the event.

Short answer: I can't find any evidence that anyone has measured this systematically.

For a while, I had toons parked at the start of the races in 3-4 zones and it appeared to me that they started sequentially, so that no two races overlapped. My theory was that each took place within a 12 min window to allow each race to happen once per hour and allow players to do them all within that hour. So for example, the count down for A might begin at :00, start at :05, and finish at :10, while B's race would start a countdown at :12, begin at :17, and finish at :22, and so on.

However, I know that the races sometimes overlap, so it might not be as rigid or as planned out at that. Unfortunately, the only way to test is to park a toon at a race and check out it's prepare|start|stop times for at least 1-2 hrs for at least several days. And who has time for that?

One of the things that are hard to do as an individual, but easy as a collective effort. Someone just needs to make something where others can submit race start times that they personally witnessed, and then the one collecting the data will find it easy to make a timetable out of this and tell everyone else or enter it into the wiki. I don't know how to do this best, something like Google Docs or a website with a backend database that saves what people submit ^^

@Shikigami.4013 said:Wiki says Labyrinth has a 15 mins timer, considering its running time of 8 minutes it should happen every 23 and not 20 minutes, if the preparation time counts as well it may be around every 25 minutes (I don't remember exactly how long the preparation time is).

It was an observation based on chat logs from when it ended until I saw the announcement on screen to head to the starting area.

@Shikigami.4013 said:Ah - if your time was measured from the end of one race to the announcement of the next one, then the wiki may be wrong with the 15 minutes. I will try to remember to write down similar times when I am idling in any PoF maps where the race happens ^^

Yeah I timed it again from one announcement of the race to next one and it was 23 min. The 15 min may be the interval between when it finishes (event credit) to when you see the announcement.

I stood quite a while in crystal desert today and checked my chatlog for all the "A race is going to start" messages. While many of them actually did fall into the 20-23 minute timeframe (all of those were 22 and not 23 minutes) there were also many odd delays making the announcement appear 25, 32, and 37 minutes after the last one. So about half the time, it took way longer than the seemingly "standard" time of 22 minutes. Maybe a race will not start while another specific event is running (casino coins?) but I did not have an opportunity to check that as I was afk most of the time.

Sorry for necroing this thread but i think my question fits here..

During the last week i was trying to attempt the Vabbi mount race since its the last one i miss from Track Record achievement (Complete each race in Crystal Oasis, Desert Highlands, Elon Riverlands, the Desolation, and the Domain of Vabbi) and it wasnt up no matter what time i was looking for it. Yesterday i completed the map on a char (cause just waiting is boring ) and during the whole time i spent on the map (must have been over an hour since i have done some events as well) the race didnt start even once.

Does anyone know ? Is this race deactivated? Is it linked with some events which must be done before it starts or something?

How sure are you that the race didn't start? As I recall, the race start|stop times aren't "announced" everywhere in Vabbi. My memory is that I I wouldn't learn of the race if I was too far. For Vabbi, I ended up parking a toon near the start and just flipping to the character whenever I was waiting for something else. It's been a while, so I might be confusing one zone with another.

I've done Vabbi a few times. It has the advantage of being one you almost always do alone, so you can just relax and maneuver through it. This is good for the elite weapon collections (though I've noticed that the requirement seems to be "complete a race" whereas I distinctly though possibly erroneously recall from early PoF that it was "finish in first, second, or third place in a race").

The first time I just happened to see the blue race start box while exploring the map. Thereafter I had to hang out in its start and wait while just chatting or forum browsing until the blue square appeared. The start is on the south side of the circular upper platform above the hero point where you fight three people.

There are a couple of different achievements. Most of them require "completing a race"; as I recall, just one requires finishing win, place, or show.

well.. i tried during late-afternoon/evening almost every day this week (stood there, did the heart at the venjin palace + all events there - even twice =) cause its boring otherwise), then as i completed the map yesterday i looked many times if it is up. I dont think i could have miss it... Didnt know though that you dont have the inGame message "there is a race..." in Vabbi. Why not actually? Anyway... I'll keep trying but while waiting for it and talking to friends i came to the idea that it might be deactivated or something. Didn't have any problems with the races on the other maps.. They always occured after a certain time (like 20 min or so) Only this one seems to have some issues.

  • 1 year later...

So I know I'm way late on this one, and I hope it will get some attention again, but ever since beetle races came out last year, I have been hating having to go from map to map and guess when the next race is going to start. Yesterday I decided to take the task of effectively timing the start of each racing event using my guild website's recurring event system. I stood at the starting line of each race with the wiki's server clock open and marked the EXACT TIME (to the second) at which each starting line event would pop up. I then applied that to each timer with the proper time intervals provided on the wiki for each event. IT WORKED!!!.....at least for a little while...

After about 12 hours of continuous run time on my timers, I checked back a little bit ago on each race to see how well they held up. It appears that the times had shifted about 32 seconds over those 12 hours (event would pop up about 32 seconds after the timer hit 0). It was like this for 4 out of 5 races, the 5th race time being inverted completely, so when the countdown to the event hit 0, the race was ending instead of starting, making the event exactly 10 early from the timer.

IN CONCLUSION:I feel that maybe race events on the megaserver system are note entirely synced to a specific start time? I may need to ask a dev to confirm this, but it looks to be that each shard might have a different set of timers based on when that shard becomes active. I will continue to investigate this and hopefully get an official answer. Until then, feel free to have a look at the timers I created so that you may see what I am talking about...

these beetle timers make 0 sense. Like they must be running at different times on different shards. Like 25 minutes ago I checked on the Gendarran track and it popped 30 seconds ahead of schedule (according to my timer) and then i went back just before it was supposed to pop again, and it was already active 10 minutes and 10 seconds ahead of my time. Other tracks were a few seconds off from the time I had recorded before, but then some others were a few minutes off. Each shard is definitely running race events on its own schedule, so there really is no way to determine when a race is going to be active without first knowing the IP it's on and then the time that's running on that IP on a continuous basis. So pretty much...impossible to determine the start time of race events as of right now.
