  • Gotta say, that "not within our ability" line could use a little clarity? Is this an upstream from the servers issue? Routing? Etc? Elaboration would go a long way to at least knowing who deserves the blame ...

  • Yeah it's bad for me too. Even had a server error logging into my account here just to comment...a couple of times. Lost fractal loot, as we all DC'd right at the end when the chest popped up. :(
Had severe lag/inability to interact with vendors in the observatory a few times trying to do the daily fractals and then the DC at the end of Nightmare. Doesn't seem to matter our location, as I'm in Austin, TX and it was bad for everyone in my party who are from various places.
Can now get to the char select screen but can't load into Lion's Arch.

I was personally in the PvP Lounge a few hours ago when I got kicked to the Character Select screen twice, got into a match and kicked to the Toon select again midway in the match, but luckily able to get back into the match. Other players in the PvP Lobby had also mentioned getting DC'ed. Also on hotel wifi in NC for the time being which I haven't had much of an issue with connection.

Okay this is getting stupid now. Wondering if it's only other people on the west coast having issues or if this is general server connectivity issue?

nope im having issues andd i live in the Uk but on NA servers

East coast here, so definitely not region-exclusive.

And for Gaile Grey, I've been disconnected pretty much anywhere, be it personal story, cities, or just normal zones. This has been going on since yesterday afternoon for me. And it has only grown in frequency over time.

  • Those of you who were playing back in July may recall the situation then.

    Another DDOS attack? Joy...

I really don't understand how some people get a kick out of doing that...

  • I'm on TC, logging from Australia. Lots of d/c.

I was afraid of that...I chat with friends on Slack, and it's offline, too.

  • Well, good to know that this isn't just a random issue in the game. Thanks for letting us know what's going on Gaile.

  • around 8:55 around 30 people or more disconnected in caladron forest. na.

I'm in Austin, TX on Suddenlink Communications, and I've been booted 3 times in the last hour, been unable to transition from LA to Mount Maelstrom, and been rubberbanding now and again.

I played a couple PvP games and all of us in the game DC'd at the same time on both teams several times and the connection were spotty at best.

WvW - doesn't seem to matter where in that venue. The matchups are totally messed up because of it.

I've been in the game for more than one hour with only one disconnect, but others are messaging me that it's happening quite a bit for them. Some are calling out specifically Dragon Stand, but I don't think the map location is particularly relevant.

It is happening in SPVP, WvW and regular map. Massive lag spikes followed by DC's It seems worse in WvW and SPVP. In fact I keep getting the popup for being in a SPVP match that never starts.

  • We just bought path of Fire today and can't complete the first mission rescuing villagers and getting a mount because the servers keep dropping us.

  • Three times our raid party got d/c'd and twice on the final steps of escort which is ~extremely~ irritating.

  • Here in Philly PA US, on Verizon FioS. Have had DC's from WVW (Dragonbrand server) 3 times tonite. Client, restarts me in PVE.

I am actually only seeing the disconnects and delay (server lag / high ping etc) happening in WvW and sPvP. I've spent most of my day in PvE and did not encounter a single issue there meanwhile my friends are constantly having issues in WvW and sPvP...

  • iczek.9628iczek.9628 Member ✭✭✭

I've lost count how many times I've lagged and dc'd tonight. Many of my guild mates and dungeon run mates got huge lag spikes and dc'd. If it is DDOS, sorry to hear that! I know you all are doing your best as usual! Keep it up! Those flee bags won't keep the GW2 community down!

  • I'm so sorry, all of you. (Especially you, Spool, since you just got the game!) The team is working on this and they will continue around the clock. The network team is 24/7, so they'll carry on.

  • was looking if i could not find more info on the issue, found this on the web about ddos attack. http://www.digitalattackmap.com/#anim=1&color=0&country=ALL&list=0&time=17470&view=map
it seams that usa is under attack from Cambodia and Vietnam today.

  • Checking in from Tennessee, Isle of Janthir server, and I can't get a connection to hold at all. Every time I attempt to load a world, be it Lion's Arch or the Elon Riverlands, I get kicked back out.

  • Someone is clearly pissed off about the lack of balance updates...

  • Perth, Western Australia here. Had dc's & BSOD since yesterday afternoon. Blue Screen error indicates an nvlddmkm.sys error. Anyone else getting that? Latest Nvidia drivers uninstalled and reinstalled. Can sit in Character Select screen for ages with no issues but once ingame no matter the map I get lag spikes then BSOD. I don't see anyone else mentioning the BSOD nor the nvlddmkm.sys error within the BSOD screen report. Hope it's sorted soon.

  • I don't get any major spikes (that I can see in-game) but that dang notice 'you have failed to connect to the game server' comes up constantly while running about, can't view TP, says I need to log in to view it .... because that makes a lot of sense O_o
So I am there... but just not there.

Blue screen of death errors are usually related to corrupted or faulty hard drive or RAM. You can run some tests to check if your disk or RAM is at fault:
    Run Disk Check
This check is to help you verify that whether the problem is caused by your hard drive.

    1) On your keyboard, press the Windows key and X at the same time, click Command Prompt (Admin).
When prompted with the administrator permission, click Yes.
    2) In the command prompt window, type in the following command and press Enter.
    chkdsk /f c:
Note: If the setup file of your Windows is not stored in disk C, you need to replace the c: with the appropriate disk letter.
Type Y and restart your computer for the disk check to start.

You’ll see the checking process happening when you restart your computer. Wait for it to finish.
    Run Memory Test
This test help you verify that the RAM is not producing errors.

    1) On your keyboard, press the Windows key and R at the same time to invoke a Run command. Type mdsched.exe in and press Enter.
    2) You could click Restart now and check for problems (recommended) to check the status of your memory card right now, or click Check for problems the next time I start my computer if you are too occupied now.
If you don’t see any error here, it’s likely that your memory card is not causing any issues.

you can also uninstall and reinstall but you will not know if it is storage or memory issue.

you could also run a cmd: sfc /scannow as administrator to look at your windows file integrity it will fix error and give you a report if something is not fix.

    lotsa stuff

Unfortunately this isn't my first time at the rodeo :)

Have tested all that. RAM is fine, HDD is fine, Windows file integrity all good. I can run Entropia Universe with no issues. All other software runs fine. The ONLY program that does this is GW2. This time GW2.DAT came back as fine, unlike the last time we had a DDoS attack. Thanks for your reply though. It would be awesome to know what the problem is unfortunately it may be a case of waiting a few days for the next patch.

The fact that the BSOD error is indicative (nvlddmkm.sys) of a clash with the new Nvidia drivers which were also updated yesterday (about the same time these issues cropped up). Rolling back the driver didn't have any effect.

Going to try a clean install of nvlddmkm.sys will be my next step. If I succeed I'll be sure to post here. I do wonder how many of those with similar problems also run an NVidia card?

i had this issue very often in events especially, i have Fullscreen issue now which i don't know what happened because it was working yesterday so it's not about my PC, i have some very high ping and too low FPS (Graphic card Intel HD Graphics 4400 & connection speed 400-200 kb/s) (FPS 7-10 & ping 12n-1,nnn)
Just to update something about Fullscreen: it works fine in window & windowed fullscreen, OS: Windows 8 Pro x64

Everything has the right to live

  • WV, USA Frontier, Maguuma - disconnects started getting bad with POF release, getting worse. Sometimes you get 30 mins before disconnect, other times 30 secs. Makes the game unplayable.

  • Have the Anet Admins confirmed these massive lag spikes and DC's are indeed coming from DDoS hackers -- and not simply too many players using Overlays which are over-taxing the API server(s) ? Seems folks are saying the drops are coming mostly during PVP or WVW or Raids/Dungeons, the same places that Overlays are popular... just a thought.

did you try to roll back to a previous version? press windows + x, management, device, graphic card, property roll back to previous version. (nvlddmkm.sys is the NVidia graphic driver store in the windows/sys.32driver file. you could also look if you have a extra install user for update s15 something that was made by NVidia updater before windows 10 and was causing some issue with windows 10 at one point. they recommended to remove that. you could also look in device to see if there is not some conflict between program.

    hope this helps you.

  • So, I've been playing this morning a lot and I haven't gotten any disconnects. Maybe the DDOS is over?

I used to have many of these nvlddmkm.sys crashes, they were random, could happen in any map or instance and, for me, not related to DCs. The ONLY thing that fixed it for me was down clocking the video card. As you said, all other games work fine and all the hardware, software and OS come up clean. I never did find a proper fix for it that didn't involve down clocking. I'm not saying it will fix your problem, but it's a test to keep in the back of your mind, if the problem don't go away after the DDoS attack is over.
