I made this poll Anonymous, so none will get to feel guilty, being insulted or dare not to enter this poll.
Whenever it's out, what kind of content it will be of course. But based on our two current expansions, would you still support GW2 or that's it after our 2 expansions?
My opinion, HoT and PoF had both their cons and pros as most things do but since I am one of these veteran players, I often compare GW1 and GW2 expansions all together, which makes things bad, sadly. I do enjoy them both but sometimes I just hate them.
HoT is my so far favorite expansion in GW2, that was a huge new level taken into Tyria, their dramatic and awesome storyline, gliders, elite specs, Meta-events and other world dynamic events.
PoF, only thing I liked about it was that we went back to Elona after so long. And that we got more stuff about the human gods which I truly enjoy. Other than that... well, the storyline was OK but not as good as the HoT oh and mounts..? We never needed mounts.. I also hate ANet how they tease the kitten out of us who has been requesting new weapon mechanism, the land-Spear and Scythe. Again, they locked them behind NPC only and gave us the middle finger, literally.
Oh well, back to the point.
I really do hope we will get back to Cantha this time, ft. the Deep Sea Dragon (finally) and including a whole new underwater rework with lots of UW content. Hoping for a new playable race, Tengu or Largos as this would be my absolutely dream to come true for GW2.
I hope the Norns will have their time to shine now aswell..
If we will get a 3rd expansion, as we can only imagine for now that ANet is currently working on a 3rd expansion as we speak. What will make you purchase a 3rd expansion?
Depending on what kind of content they will be offering?
Are you going to buy it no matter what?
You wont purchase it as HoT/PoF did not give the content you were hoping for?

Nope, mainly because the game mode I mainly play (WvW) has lost too many people. That and it's not a good sign when the HoT expansion has more players than PoF. I'm not really sure what they could do or expand on at this point.
Agreed. WvW is not at all what it used to be a few years ago, I keep wondering if WvW's fate will be better in time or not. I felt this too regards HoT vs PoF. There was alot more players who did indeed purchase HoT as it was the 1st expansion. I remember the price fiasco too. Maybe I am wrong but is the game dying after all? Only time will tell... I guess.
Yes I will buy the 3rd expansion. If I’m playing a game I’m going to want to play in the new content with all the other players. If I’m going to be staying in old content only I might as well move on to another game.
Be careful what you ask for
ANet might give it to you.

Almost certainly.
The cost of gw2 expansions is negligible relative to their entertainment value (to me). Even HoT, with maps I detested, added something for me.
Of course its possible that features of xpac 3, wben announced, will not appeal to me. Even so, a few skins locked to tbe expac, or elite specs that interest me, would probably be worth paying for.
If I'm still playing, yes totally
I've enjoyed both expansions, so of course I'm game for a third!
If I’m still playing, definitely. But I hope they add some more meta events in PoF maps to hold me over, because I don’t really enjoy the bounty thing at all. They found a way to take the epic feeling out of some rather interesting fights, and had to fill with some incredibly uninteresting fights.
most probably yeah, specially if the new elites bring something cool to the table (wishlist: GS revenant/thief, sword offhand thief, hammer/rideable pets ranger)
Yes I will. My only grip with PoF is the lack of a better reward structure for most of its meta content and I believe it's a very common complaint they could address over time. Other than that it was an amazing expansion and I'm looking forward to more amazing things.
Depends what the expansion is aimed at.... If it's pure PvE again, probably not.
No. So far, each expac has been a case of "nerf everything except the expansion in order to force people to buy it." Not interested in another cycle of that.
Your missing the maybe option
Yeah that's why I couldn't bring myself to buy PoF.
Sorrow's Furnace Minstrel Invader
[DOA] Descendants Of Ascalon, [LOOT] Legendary Order Of Thieves
well, I lost hope. I personally like to see other people doing things around me.
Another expansion will fragment the population even more.
it seems you guys don't understand the problem these expansions are creating.
Probably at a discount. Soulbeast was amusing to RP with, but I got surprising bored with the rest of the specializations in regards to WvW (which hasn't been a spectacular game mode either). Either aoe spam a damage flavor or aoe spam heals/boons? Imma just stick with rapid fire then and pretend stance sharing is useful in groups. Yus.

Deleted in protest of anet leaving support ticket #7495730 without answer since October 10th 2019. It's sad how if this were a money-related issue you'd have answered within a couple of hours. At this point I'm not even mad, but disappointed by the mediocrity displayed by your community managers.
Maybe? This kind of counting your chicken before they hatch question is tough to have any meaningful answer.
Maybe.
Too many factors to say yes or no at this time.
It all depends on what they deliver on the 3rd expansion.
What I sought before buying expansion (rank):
1. Story (
PoF Story = Awesome
|HoT Story = It's okay
)2. World Class Meta (
HoT Meta = Good
|PoF Meta = Bad
)3. New Feature (
Glider = Good
|Mounts = Good
)4. Environment
I hope the 3rd expansion will be as good or even better.
*coughunderwaterexpansionpleasecough*
Yes, I will purchase it. Whatever the content will be in term of storylines and use of mounts - I don't care much about - for me, the main interest is that it will add new area(s), new foe(s), new achievements (out of which new scavenger hunts what I like the most and I hope for JP too), new gathering and and so on... I am always happy with that.
Side note: I don't like to do storylines. I find mounts nice, but what I mainly do in the game don't need them much. So, storylines and stuff related to mounts are not my motivation to go for an expansion pack.
WvW server: Henge of Denravi
yes. but i see it necessary to get a rework of crafting. the more specialisations arrive the more items , armors etc are needed. and if a balance updates arrives the game gets annoying to grind the needed gear back together than to play the content you would enjoy.
e.g. a build get suddenly effective with celestial stats. happy welcome to produce that loaded quarz you can make 1 stone per day off while you need like 45 of those accound and time gated stuff...
the game needs to get more accessable towards all game modes. gw1 never brought me in that position that the more expansions arrived the more the game felt like work. nono never.
Depends if Crowfall comes out before or after the 3rd expansion
WHAT?!? Did you expect something special would be written here
I would probalby buy it within a few variables. I am bnot realyl interested in game mechanics as I just play PvP for the AP and wvw for my personal enjoyment and Flamewars2.
*Anet should make a choice if the commander is a skritthole pawn or not. I am all for saving the innocent in an heroic fashion, but that requires the PC to be a hero, not a pawn of people like Livia. If it should stay they way he is, there should be no more missions to save the innocents and world leaders but describe stuff how the PC walks all over the bad guys like Batman and makes them pay in the coinage they use themselves. Especially ignore the world leaders when you stay a sarcastic twit, just walk in the crisis regions and give a skritt about what everyone else thinks or wants.
*Find a balance between hardcore content and accessible content. If you are unable to be innovative, at least be actually conservative and not waning in your direction.
*Stop devaluing GW1 lore. I found it to be really anger inducing to see my former henchmen being instrumentalized by Palawa Joko of all people, and one of the few left alive turned out to be a super annoying old woman with a hunger for revenge.
Well GW2 is my favorite MMO and will continue to support ArenaNet.
The creator of Santa Charr that looks like a Reindeer.
As long as I'm still playing the game, I can't see myself not purchasing any and all future expansions. Besides, they have a good track record with me. HoT was and is absolutely amazing and I am pleased with PoF so far (I just wish it had HoT's events!).
For me, HoT was like a poison to GW2, it destroyed many of things that made GW2 a great game, from the way Elite Specs were added, to raids, to those hideous maps, to needing mastery lines and meta events to get around, was just like an injection of everything I could hate into a single expansion, and eroded what was once a really unique and wonderful game. I cannot put to words how much I would like to have removed HoT from this game, and because of that, I almost didn't buy PoF. I bought it, but reluctantly an then only the smallest pack.
PoF was in every way what GW2 should have had for a first expansion. But, it's also lacking, it has limited legendary weapons linked to it, very little in way of fluff and cosmetics, so it feels incomplete truth be told.
With that put out, chances are, and it's a pity because this really is a great game, but, there is a better then good chance that I'll have moved on to something else before the next expansion comes out. But you know, if it's something really spot on.. I might come back for it. Who knows.
Probably, if it continues to improve the way PoF did (aside from WvW where it put the final nail in the coffin for me). On the PvE side, for sure, there were some missteps in PoF, but they're relatively few and I find all of the maps enjoyable. By comparison, the only one I liked much from HoT was Auric Basin.
I will buy it most probably. But i will definitely stop playing if condition spam meta is continuing or even more cancerous than now.

No.
At this point, due to the statements, behavior and direction of the company, I do not plan on purchasing another expansion or providing them with any further financial support.
However, I will consider possibly purchasing a future expansion at some point after its release at an appropriate price if a new playable race that I desire to play is locked behind its purchase. This is the only feature that could cause me to consider purchasing another of their products.
My GW History: GW1 Beta > GW1 > All GW1 Expansions > GW2 > GW2:HoT > GW2: PoF
I did not purchase HoT.
Due to my being uninterested in the Revenant profession it adds, disliking the implementation of elite specializations, my feelings regarding the quality and direction of the story, as well as disliking everything about the areas it offers, I do not plan to ever purchase it. Gliding would be a nice function to acquire, but not at the cost of an expansion I wouldn't play, which is something I would be required to do just to unlock the gliding - ensuring that I would not purchase it even to simply unlock gliding.
I did purchase PoF.
I really enjoy the design of most of the maps, as well as most aspects of how mounts function and behave. However, I am unable to appreciate the maps or even be motivated to spend any time in them due to the incredibly dense enemy population and aggro range preventing me from being able to enjoy adventuring in the areas. If density and aggro range were lessened to be closer to core Tyria, I would be playing every day and loving it.
EDIT/UPDATE
As of 2018, June 29 (post-LW S4 E3 and all other happenings with ArenaNet and GW2 in the past 5 months):
No, I would still not purchase a third expansion. I will also continue to withhold providing them with any financial support.
If I'm still playing when it comes out? Yes.
you're insane!
Since Anet killed my interest for PVE, i wont need nor wanna waste money in something that i would be ending just using it for WvW, or something that i must buy to feel the class "progression".
HoT was my last expantion on this game, and was already bad money spent.
Slayers [XD] NSP Guild
Yao Chen Herald/Ventari
Ying Wuxian Renegade/Demon
I will buy the third expansion.
GW2 wasn't as good a game as it could have been at the beginning, for me that's most likely because I compare it to GW1 too strongly, but season after season and xpac after another the quality and lore of the game has skyrocketed from what it used to be. The game still hasn't reached its full potential, but ArenaNet has proved to me that each new addition does progress the game closer and closer to it. They clearly work hard to achieve it.
The stories we love best do live in us forever. - J.K. Rowling
Better to finish Balance and Lag / FPS Spikes before Release a new Expansion.
During the days of Guild Wars, here's what we got:
With Heart of Thorns we got: four maps, with one only fully accessible during a meta, one profession. With Path of Fire we got 5 maps an no new profession. Yes, there were mounts but it's like a restaurant saying, hey, our coffee tastes mediocre so we've filled half the cup with sugar. There's no denying the expansions of the original game brought a lot more value for the dollar than the current ones.
Other factors in my decision; the story, which I hope will adopt a more mature tone because as it is, the storyline appears to have been written by high school students gunning for their first D&D session while drinking too much energy drinks. Have the devs play and study other games (Dishonored, Witcher 3, Mass Effect 2, Knights of the Old Republic, Horizon Zero Dawn, NieR: Automata, to name a few) in order to learn about great story telling. Make the commander less of a passenger on a dialog track he/she does not have any other choice but to choo-choo along the storyline. Also, the gameplay mechanics that are still on the juvenile Super Mario/Mega Man level along with way too much fireworks/light show during battles.
This time around I will await and see what the expansion is all about before forking a single of my hard earned dollars.
Of course, there's no point playing an MMO if not buying the expansions.
Shrugs I liked HoT and PoF and the variable difficulties and activities they added... though I do wonder where they can go from here. Mounts and Gliders will be serious boons in any future expansion if their effectiveness isn't somehow negated.
I have honestly no idea at this point. There are just way too many factors involved. Also, there's no way i'll be deciding completely blind, without knowing anything about the expansion.
So, the answer is a definite maybe.
The whole point of a social game is to play with the people you want to play with, not be forced to play with the people you don't.
Depends on whether I haven't moved on to other games by then. I'll certainly purchase it if I continue to play the game, however. I prefer to own and play a complete game.
Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something. ~ Robert Heinlein
I tend strongly towards yes, but only time will well. The question is whether a next expac is sensible ATM.
For now, focusing on listening to the players and improving the existing content where needed could prove more beneficial.
This will of course not attract new players, but will perhaps keep veteran players from leaving as they're tired of 6 years asking for the same thing and never being heard?

I'd like to think I'm going to hem and haw. Then engage in lots of angst and overthinking because it won't be casual or solo-friendly just like the last two weren't. Then, after all that, decide not to buy it. That's what I thought I was going to do with PoF.
I bought it anyway. So I'll probably do the angsting all over again and buy it like last time.
I'm still going to hold out hope that I'll like the next xpac's elite specs, even though I can't stand firebrand or soulbeast. I'll probably grit my teeth through the story instance bosses and get irritated at non-explorable gimmick maps like the Desolation and Vabbi or the poison areas in HoT. And I'll grumble a lot. And I'll love the music and beautiful scenery and whatever new Core Tyria enhancing feature Anet adds. Such is life
Definitely. They've really turned the ship around after Heart of Thorns. Also, ANet tends to add content that you're pretty much required to have in order to complete the newest maps.
So . . . there's that.
No longer posting or playing.
Yes.
30$ for extra maps/classes/story and at least 30 hours of gameplay are definitely far enough to me.
I am not sure i will be actively playing the game, like now, but even so i will definitely buy it.
I've voted yes but only if they stay on course.
GW2 wastes a lot of good potential, but i still love it despite its flaws. As long as the expansion gives me plenty to do, and my friends stick around as well, i have no reason not to get exp.3.
But i have serious concerns on the story writing.
There was no build up in the story.
Balthazar died almost as soon as he appeared.
When you compare him to Abaddon, the big bad behind the shadows in three expansions, never shown until the last fight.
To defeat the dragons, see the good in them.
Zhaitan reunites lost ones, primordus creates fertile land, mordremoth spreads the green, and jormag..
..jormag? Who's that?
Yes, because I have been playing GW's since 2005 and the company puts out terrific gaming experience. I've played many games since the first year of WoW and both GW's remain a go to after breaks fave. I only wvw when I HAVE to for legends, so that aspect is of no difference to me whether its improved or not.
(NOBL) rocking GW's since 2005, still rocking Sorrow's Furnace :P
B-But... I really want to hanging around in underwater city, doing underwater mount race and underwater world boss, and bubbles, yes bubbles
You mean there aren't the endless 200 man karma trains running across the maps.. yeah must be hard to having to go back and play a little smarter.
I took a break from WvW for a few months, having been in there from before day 1 and tbh the only drop off I have seen since jumping back in recently is on desert BL's .. which from my own personal taste isn't a surprise to me. EB and Alpine maps still have decent levels of fun going on, with commander tags throughout the day. Desert seems to be more sporadic but still more than enough to be competitive. Perhaps it's more to do with your particular server or the staleness of some of the tiered matchups, or maybe players just don't like wvw without running in a 200man zerg.
One thing I can get behind is PoF seems to of lost it's shine a lot quicker than the HoT maps leaving certain achievements and such harder to obtain with the lack of groups. Thankfully I got most of mine out the way early but there is still plenty of scope for expansion imo.
Life is what YOU make it... NOT what others tell you!
if the new pack is any thing at all like pof with no system upgraded at all . i will not be buying the next new pack and based on what i do not see from it . i might very much put a end to this game franchise as a whole for the lack of story lore hard ware support and move on to more better and newer games like #FarCry5
Actually, I'm relatively sure that deliberate design decisions keep more people in HoT, nothing to do with the quality of the new expansion. They want people in HoT because HoT needs people to function. The new expansion needs considerably less people. Anet is much better at directing traffic than people give them credit for.
I was originally intended to put a 3rd option of the poll as ''Other'', (maybe/explain/etc) but then I changed it to Yes/No poll ft. only anonymous so for those who want to add a comment are free to do so.
Interesting points and opinions.
I would personally not purchase the 3rd expansion if it will turn up similar to PoF. Sure it was a great thing and hyped to get back to Elona but the whole concept of an expansion for me is not still there. I purchased PoF mainly because ''why not?'' ''Just because.'' And ''we're heading back to Elona.''
If we're even getting a third expansion, because.. who knows really? 2 years from now? 3 years?
It's cool to see so many different people based on their gamemodes. I am only for PvE as some of you are only into PvP and/or WvW aswell, so I completely see the point of not getting content for your gamemode. I am already bored and have been ever since November, and if we have to wait for atleast 2-3 years for the third exp... well then...
