Sincerely hope it is not GW3. Everything invested in GW2 will feel wasted.

they still have a ways to go with gw2. i doubt there will be any mention of the sequal until at least another expansion is out and 6 months time after said expansion has been out.

Why E3? ArenaNet has not attended any major conference in ages. They are announcing something big I can smell it.

They will be talking about "Monetising your playerbase" followed by "Joy of movement bs"

    You heard it here first.

Tera announced the console version few weeks ago. Now if ArenaNet put GW2 on a portable console... well, my boss could directly fire me, since I'd play it even at work.
    So please, don't do it.

I would like to see some engine upgrade or free content upgrade (maps, quests etc). Like Cataclysm in WoW? :smirk: Crystal Elder Dragon is bigger and more dangerous then others we have faced, so... it may happen!

We get free content 'upgrades' (maps, quests) all the time. I don't think that is what they would be announcing.

Surely not expansion news. It's not even that long since pof release.

By E3, PoF will be nearly 9 months old and season 4 will be halfway through, assuming 6 episode again. They'll want at least 6 months for advertising, rather than repeating PoF and essentially only marketing it to existing players. Consider that if they stick to $30 expansions, they will certainly want to recover the losses by offering a new one roughly every year, rather than the usual $50 every other year.

At the current rate however, with 3 months in-between episodes, it'll take roughly another year for season 4 to end. Unless they speed it up or cut it short, I doubt they'd announce an expansion over a year in advance, though they did so with HoT. They still have PAX later this year in September, which is likely when episode 4 will launch. You'll know if they're planning to reveal it however, since the episode will likely do it first, unless they're no longer using seasons to link them.

Looking at the NCSoft income from GW2, I don't really think that they lost anything, on the contrary. Sure we don't know how much they spent to develop the last expansion, but the game is doing pretty well imo.
One of the sell point of GW2 is that there's no rush in farming gear and its target are casual players. There are always returning players who have to buy some expac and I don't think that pushing 1 expansion every year would be a good idea. If they really want to gain more, better to develop another game and move part of the dev team on it. Pushing the accelerator on GW2 would make the game like all the other MMOs, so bye bye current target.

Given no news about episode 3, it seems likely they will just talk about episode 3, living story, and potentially the wvw changes coming at some point to servers.

As much as I would like a teaser for an expansion or something bigger for guild wars 2 than just talking about their quarterly content update, I think the timing is too intentional with this release for it to not be the big part of their presentation at e3.

That's of course assuming that episode 3 is actually coming out within the next 2 to 3 weeks.

GW2 on game console play it on the PS4 it might work Tera out on PS4. GW2 on the phone people are looking at mobile games.
Maybe they might announce Cantha with a new race? As for GW3 if they ever do it they need to add more character creation but I doubt it GW3.

Introduction of mounts to GW 1. =)
I just had to say it. What if water combat update was only partial?
They announce at E3 underwater combat revamped just in time for season 4 episode 3 which could the biggest episode content so far.
Besides episode 3 is well on it's way to becoming late and it just might be because E3 is very close. Also it's a good way to test the waters and get new players in time for the announcement of a Cantha & DSD aka bubbles expansion in Jan 2019. :o <3

Crafting in GW2 is not particularly interesting, neither are grindy achievements. Those are usually added because they don't require much effort.

Quality content is new maps, new story, intricate optional quests (like Caladbolg's), etc. Stuff you usually get from meaty content patches.

ppl call achievements quests, they are boring stuff to do because Anet still doesn't know how to add quality quests, they also love to force ppl to craft which is the worst system in crafting since MU online.

I'm not really oriented in such events, but is E3 something important?

Why will ANet participate in it? Can we expect something extraordinary from it? Or is this just a casual meeting of the companies?

Effective September 1st, GW2 will become free to play and pay to play. Pay to play will cost $12.00 a month or $9.00 a month if paid yearly. Free to play will lose several
of their current benefits while pay to play will keep the current game the way it is plus will receive several nice new benefits.
Listen for the announcements when E3 begins.

    Have a great day.

What i want: The game gets ported to DX12/Unreal Engine 4

What we will get: New items on the gem store

The best thing that could happen is the announcement of GW3 for 2019. GW2 has too much problems, problems that will take them years to fix, and even then, it won't be fully fixed. This game is old. Its time to move on... a new expansion with content for less than a week won't excite anyone else but the few white knights still playing the game.

Since they're attending to E3, they must announce something big or new content.

    1. I was thinking if they are going to Remaster/Remake GW1 as many game companies are doing that right now.
    2. Something brand new to GW2, like a super big update, similar to for an example, Heroes of the Storm 2.0. New playable modes (GvG, Alliance battle), new playable race, anything tbh.
    3. Announcement for Expansion #3.
    4. A completely new game, for PC/console/mobile(?)

No matter what, I am looking forward to see what ANet has to offer and surprise us at E3! :)

Quite honestly, I've had a 4 year break and I left loving GW2 with little time to play it. Coming back, everything is new, and I am learning a lot about the game and other than grindy achievements and Masteries there isn't anything negative to say. Also, the grind isn't a complaint WoW is grind central, and I've been playing that for 11 years. I mean nothing is perfect, but this entire forum post has been rather negative and very harsh toward a game that everyone seems to care enough to comment about?

In my opinion, GW2 have done very well considering they are not pay to play, and thats what they stood for years ago. Game's beautiful, story is rich, love the combat. I'd love to see what else they can do but calling it a total mess, or having too much problems is really quite a turn off for new/returning players.

I figured as much about E3 and the next episode. I don’t recall Anet ever delaying an episode for something like E3 or PAX. Yet people were so quick to assume that and discount anything to suggest otherwise including a post from Anet giving the reason for the delay.

Welcome to every online game ever.

You say that like it's normal for an MMO to have a sequel. It's not.
MMO's rarely have sequels, and rightly so, because it would just waste all the time and effort you have invested, which tends to be a lot given how time consuming mmo's can be. There is no World of Warcraft 2, EvE online 2 or Elder Scrolls Online 2 either, and nor should there be.

The only reason GW1 had a sequel at all, is because GW1 wasn't a true mmo, it was a CORPG (Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game). And I use the term "online" loosely, since the entire game can be played solo (with heroes/henchmen) and all zones outside cities are instanced.

Everquest 2, Lineage 2, Maple Story 2, Final Fantasy 14 not a sequel but the second MMO from that franchise, there was a game by Turbine that had a sequel, Camelot Unchained is basically a sequel to Dark Age of Camelot.

    I'm sure there's more.

Anet specifically stated that the next episode was delayed for reasons other than E3 but people disregarded that post to go with their running speculative theory. If people are so adamant on their theory being correct, they’re going to continue to disregard all facts that state otherwise.
