I was PvPing to At the Gate's /Slaughter of the Soul/ album, but we still lost. (We may have lost, but at least I have good taste. Explain that one, Anet.)

I usually listen to Invincible by Amaranthe in PvP. Because it makes me feel invincible, duh. :P

A lot of the time I'm listening to the TV because my computer is in the living room and I don't like shutting myself off from everything else that's going on with headphones. If we're listening to music it can be almost anything, I don't pick music to go with the game it's just whatever we feel like listening to at the time. Rock, metal, punk, pop, rap, Disney soundtracks....

One which is weird but kind of cool is listening to another game's soundtrack while playing GW2. Wind Waker works surprisingly well, or something like Skyrim for a more obvious choice.

If anything, the in-game soundtrack, or a mix of fine drum and bass, trap, future bass and dark ambient.

    Depending on what I play.
I like Danheim’s radio channel, with nordic music.
Sometimes a mix of battle music, but tbh, I only ever have the game’s own music on, on a first playthrough or story-focus playthrough.

To defeat the dragons, see the good in them.
Zhaitan reunites lost ones, primordus creates fertile land, mordremoth spreads the green, and jormag..
    ..jormag? Who's that?

I don't really listen to other music while playing, EXCEPT on WvW reset nights. Then it depends on my mood. Lately tho it's been my Chemical Brothers station on Pandora.

I never listen to music when I have to focus, and PvP definitely is one of those game modes where I feel I need to focus 100%. ;)

Other than that, I love the GW2 soundtrack - but when I am in the mood for something else, my vast music collection provides me with a variety of musical styles and options (rock, pop, jazz, funk, old school hiphop, classical music, orchestral soundtracks, and what not) - although GW1+2, for some reason, often inspire me to primarily listen to the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Melissa Eitheridge (pre-1998), Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol (the early stuff), Coldplay (pre-2013), and tons of other artists to whom I can't help but sing along. =)

    Currently on repeat:

    • Bury Tomorrow - Black Flame
      (from their upcoming album)

When not on a single-track-on-repeat kick, I switch between various playlists that include:

    • GW2 Soundtrack + GW1 tracks (like Eye of the Storm)
    • Other video game music like:
Killer Instinct soundtracks, Mario 64, Doom (especially SnapMap tracks), Gero Goerlich's Everspace, Project Torque, EVE-Online, Starpoint Gemini (Globus), The Saboteur (great music including Ella Fitzgerald), as well as VGM by Adam A. Dearborn and James R. Norman, or even some Blue Stahli

    • Heavier, yet melodic music like:
Anterior, Architects, Trivium, the rest of Bury Tomorrow's discography

    • Various atmospheric tracks like:
'Cygna - Su Abir', 'Aural Planet - Exposure', 'Porter Robinson - Sea of Voices', 'AmBeam - Qolleh-ye Damavand' as well as loads of other atmospheric music

    • Various kinds of dubstep tracks like 'Nightcore - Nintendo'

WOW - Done with forums for good now! - Someone creates a thread about Pharus's light on crit effect asking if it is a bug - I get warned for being "off topic" for commenting how to use the search and pointing out threads discussing Pharus and it being an intended effect... Sadly means I often have the game volume down =/ I do catch some of the music though, but the cutscenes are very quiet

  • I'm usually listening to either political commentators, or I'm listening to nerd paraphernalia commentators. If not that, I'm either watching players play Yugioh, or I'm watching an old TV series that I've always meant to catch up on. Sometimes I'll actually listen to music, but its usually either from a collection of Touhou remixes or Miku Miku dance videos.

Except when I'm raiding and in a Discord call, I usually play my own playlist of my favorite Metal songs and put it on shuffle (only when I'm in a specific mood do I play something else, but that is not based on GW2). A few examples of what might blast out of my speakers when I shuffle my list: Absu, Behemoth, Bolt Thrower, Carpathian Forest, Napalm Death, Nocturnus, Dødheimsgard, Emperor, Gehenna, Gorefest, Impaled Nazarene, Slayer, Kreator, Marduk, Melechesh, Nile, Morbid Angel, etc. For those of you who are Metal fans, you get the gist.

@Mortifera.6138 And yes, At the Gates is also in my list. Though I do prefer their first 3 over Slaughter of the Soul. :)

First and foremost the game OST and sounds themselves. If I am PVPing I might listen to some metal or epic orchestral or some other game OSTs for variation, same for WvW. Otherwise I always have the game music on.

  • Usually I listen to a mix of metal/rock songs that I hand pick for whatever character I am playing. I have Spotify playlists made up for a lot of people. 90's songs feature heavily, and anything with harmonies, especially gothic metal bands.

Typically I put on electroswing while doing PVP or Metas. Otherwise silence for Missions and instanced content as I often lead newbie groups.

Recently it was Iron Maiden "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" and
Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance" and
Judas Priest "Defenders of the Faith"

A lot of times though I enjoy in-game music and ambient sounds.

I listen to game music and sound effects in every game I play. It cues me in to what's happening in the game.

Though during RP in LA after its ruin, mourning a dead guildie (in character dead, not RL), I happened to put on Wagner's Siegfried's Funeral Music and it fit beautifully. Normally however, only game sounds.

I usually listen to random videos on YouTube (news, music videos, and everything inbetween). Sometimes I'll fire up my iTunes list and just let it shuffle through my massive library of stuff. This morning's selections were mostly Beastie Boys tracks.

Oh look. I have a signature now.

  • Teatime when there's a new one

  • In the past I would typically put my music collection on shuffle. Some electronic stuff, other game soundtracks, sone Two Steps From Hell, and lots and lots of sweet glorious metal. Nowadays though I tend to have on whatever's in my Youtube sub feed for the day, followed by wherever I happen to wander after all that's done. Usually deeper into Youtube, sometimes back to my music. Unless I'm recording; then I have nothing else playing.

When I do play something else (and this is the same for any other game), it's usually just whatever metal album I feel like listening to at the time.

Fantasy metal like Rhapsody gets me pretty pumped for boss fights though.

I am very sorry to see you say this. Nearly my entire family struggles with accelerated hearing loss and near-total deafness, which is primarily why I have all styles of music playing all day and also all night while I sleep, to enjoy it while I can. However, I take the sunglasses guy you included to mean that you don't let it get you down, that you are 'cool' with it. For what it's worth, I give you a massive, though virtual high five for having this strength in you.

Thank you so much... I lost my hearing at an age where I got to hear all the great music from the 60's through the 80's, and some early 90's. I carry those memories with me. ^5 to you too!

As a original console/PC gamer from the beginning of the 90ies without internet connections it was quite normal to just listen to the in-game music. On 90ies PC it was like either you listen to the in game music or nothing at all - well there was the option to just run an audio CD in the CD ROM but usually you listened to the in game music. I am also an avid listener to classical game music from Zelda, Super Mario, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog etc. I grew up with it and I couldn't even imagine how it is to miss out this iconic music from those games. It is a big part of a game and so for many others. But somehow, especially in the MMO, MOBA and shooter scene, many rather younger players tend to play absolutely horrible defunct non-music during their streams - it's beyond belief.

Very rarely, after listening to the same music in GW2 for the 1000th time, I listen to some other stuff. Mainly heavy metal, alternative rock, drum n bass and other electro music.

@ 23:17 - 30mins in. Okay i was gunna say for a short bit they were doing this but the whole video kinda seems this way... seriously do DJ's nowadays play their MP3's and just sit back and dance to their own music, knob turning occasionally, checking the screen to make sure its the song they made a month ago pretending to do something and do they call that DJ'ing? kitten LMAO.

IDK, this is more my idea of DJ'ing not saying its great, but its fun to watch :)

and yes i'll listen to badboy's oldskool "Bangin the Box" series while playing from time to time :D
