    I would like to torpedo the entire chest idea. The payoffs .. .the worst ... the drops, the same, Archranis has it right, a pure and simple GRIND with no rainbow and no pot of gold at the end.

    Soooo..... exercise your self control, and, like, don't do the stuff you don't like? I mean, other than the gold from selling the infusions, I'm kinda shrug about the whole thing, but ... like PvP and WvW dailies that I am never going to enjoy doing, I don't think that means others should be denied that choice...

    Also the chests DON'T HAVE COOL DOWNS ON THEM. When you complete a set they all close to be opened again in any order.

    They are supposed to work like that, yes, however they don't reset, at least they haven't for me, on my third set only the chests in Bloodtide Coast and Timberline Falls have reset, none of the others have.

    Stuck 3/10 on third pass through on this achievement. None of the chest that I haven't opened this cycle are interactable/labelled, haven't been for 3 days now.

    Better get a wriggle on.

    Double check your Achievement list - you have to finish all chests on the list before the list resets.

    Look in the bug section it's an official bug, and yes I'm done I even have the title. :p

    You get the title after the first go-through.

    You "only" get achievements and rewards after that. The list is repeatable 10 times (for 50 total achievement points), so you're not done with the achievement total, if you only went through it once.

    According to some users, it's apparently hanging (the chests become inactive background objects) after the May 22nd patch (though I thought it was closer to May 29th, since that's when I stopped being able to interact at all with any chests - not even an "open" option popping up). I still do the daily to get the keys (7 in inventory so far, which tells everyone when I stopped being able to use them), so I figure once they have the stupid things fixed, I can zip through the achievement to whatever point I'd be current (unless this goes on more than 70 some days).

    Some of the patches today (Tuesday) are supposed to be about addressing the issue (or so went the rumor according to my roommate who got it from a staffer in WvW not too long ago), but I can definitively say that it did not work. If the Dev's are reading these forums, I offer that last part for their edification and enlightenment, though I figure someone already went out to check it and are swearing over the lack of positive results at the moment..

    I can understand the whole "get interrupted while opening" thing, but gating them at all is, well, not very well justified. I mean, if someone wants to sit there and spam the same chest over and over, why not? The key rate drop is metered, no? If someone doesn't read their achievement guides to see it's best (for the achievement points) to go through the list before opening the same chest again, that's mostly on them (it's not like the thing doesn't show up at all).

    Leave them endlessly "openable" (even if one can be interrupted while doing it) if people have the keys. They're account-bound, and can be metered by drop rate if need be (though I really don't see the point to that, either). Trying to gate them and all the rest just doesn't make a lot of sense, unless someone from PETA is up in arms about the pointless slaughter of 10 Krait per day per player to get one of the keys. Personally, I see that as a Tyrian Improvement Project.

    I have looted both the exotic and fine versions. It's not broken at all, just rare.

    I completed the achievement once. Since then I've only found four chests reset. The rest are all already open and can't be looted. This is clearly a bug. It's been a couple of weeks. Given that this was the big new feature of that patch, I'm surprised nothing is apparently being done.

    I always get 10 keys together then go open each of the chests, so it has been 10 days since I opened any chests at all. The chests I have tried show as already open, I was about to start my 3rd repeat of Master Diver.

    ANet have confirmed that this is a known bug, and they are working actively to fix it. They will announce on the forums when it is resolved.

    That isn't a "bugged" version, that is a perfectly legitimate version that also drops from the same boss. You are experiencing that an item is rare, not broken.

    No. The fine versions should not exist. Level 80 items are not supposed to have a single stat and level 0 upgrades. Those are items from level 0 to level 20.

    And they didn't drop before the change in magic find. They are a remnant of changes made to drop tables.

    On top of that, it just feels worse to get those than getting nothing. It makes people think they are getting that instead the exotic even if that isn't the case.

    Those should simply not exist.

    But as I said, it's a different issue.

  • Bugged on my account also. Have not opened any chests for several days. Checked two chests today and both were open and empty.

    Yeah I was really hoping this would be a straightforward enough issue that they could get the fix in today, but if it's not then it's not, no big deal. At least we know they're working on it . . .

    I think what he may have been referencing there is some confusion among some players as to what is causing the bug, or whether there is actually a bug or if the current behavior of the chests is intended. But ultimately it doesn't matter as long as anet understands the issue and is working to correct it the confusion is unfortunate but irrelevant . . .

    5 days since i last opened my last chest and still all of them are unavailable to open anymore.

  • I now have 7 keys, on the third runthrough this Master Diver achievement, and all the individual chests still have not reset, even though the main Master Diver achievement has been completed and reset for a week now.

    The date of the first public acknowledgement of a problem says nothing about when ANet were first made aware of it .. the first post I know of on here was dated 27 May and I'm pretty sure from comments I've seen that it was 'bug reported' days earlier.

    2nd pass on the achievement is impossible for me. i've only been able to interact with 4 chests: Gendarran Fields, Bloodtide Coast, Iron Marches and Timberline Falls. the rest are showing as open even though i opened them over a week ago.

    I'm bugged now too 5/10 on my third run through. I've submitted a ticket as well. Looks like I'll just collect keys till we know what's going on. It's nice to know they're trying to track it down. I've gone to all 5 other chests now and found them all still open so, I guess I'll just wait. At least I know I'm not alone, I guess.

    I don't know if this would have anything to do with them being bugged. I got a key in AB then my key from krait after that opened 2 chests. the next day (i'm on my 3rd round) got a key at 6/10 all 4 have been open since. Timberline, Lornars, Maelstrom and Frostgourge.

    Gaile, they partially fixed it. But, the time-gating needs to be completely removed. It's making us have keys we can NEVER use.

    It does...due to life in general, I started this late and had only finished my first pass through the achieve before this issue hit and stopped me cold...so I am sitting at 0/10 with several keys...just waiting. :)

    Always willing to help others if I am able. Catch me in-game. I'm a dirty-casual with 2 kids in college, so I am on at odd times. lol

    Maybe, because I've read in this thread about people being stuck on 2nd or 4th round, so it's definitely not 3rd round only.

    @Gaile Gray.6029: This. If you leave it time-gated instead of resetting daily, a lot of people will have more keys than they can ever use. Please forward this request to the devs, I am sure everyone on here agrees.

    This is nothing but a waste of time. Collecting keys and going to each chest to find out you can't loot them. Fix it please. Otherwise just take it back away.

    I don't think the impatience is helping. They've acknowledged the problem, said they are working on it and it really hasn't been that terribly long. Plus you can still get the keys so once it is fixed you can catch up, no harm no foul . . .

    It would be nice if they shared the cause of the problem though. It seems to be affecting ppl differently, or at least at different times or stages in progress. I'm curious as to what triggers it . . .

    Just an exploit fix, hence the patch notes after the patch ships, etc. Priorities. This is annoying, but nobody actually loses out, because you can still stockpile the keys, and open the chests when they fix it.

    After hearing about this issue I finished my 2nd time through the 10 chests. At that point I was sitting at 0/10 chests on my 3rd time through the list. I purposely waited to open chests and did dailies to accumulate 10 keys which happened with today's reset. I then went to the various chests in order from the top of the list down. I was only able to open 4 of the 10 chests. The other chests were all sitting open and unable to be interacted with. This proves that there is no cooldown on the chests as I had not opened a chest for at least 10 days as I had skipped the daily yesterday.

    With starting at 0/10 on the chests, the 4 I was able to open were: Gendarran Fields, Kessex Hills, Frostgorge Sound and Timberline Falls. I used the same character that had opened all the chests in round 2 and the same character that did the dailies an the days I received a key. On my second pass through the list I had opened Mount Maelstrom first as I had had an extra key drop during round 1 and after completing the individual opening achievements, I was able to open the Mount Maelstrom right away to start round 2. I did not receive an extra key during round two so it took over 10 days to finish that set of the rounds and then the extra time to accumulate the 10 keys for todays attempt.

    They do; this doesn't actually block progress: you can still collect the keys, and when the chests are fixed you will be able to use them quickly. The most recent update was to address a specific exploit, so it is no surprise that they did not roll other bug fixes into that.

  • The dead Asuran has been at the Kessex Hills Chest since the bug. Are there dead Asuran at all the bugged open chest?

    I'm not sure what time gating you're talking about. You can only get one key a day but you can open as many chests a day as you have keys for. If you get enough keys to finish the achievement five times (the max), then stop farming keys.

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're referring to.
