[Suggestion] Make Endless Djinn Tonic Tradeable

Given the rarity I think the "Endless Djinn Tonic" should be tradeable on the trading post, so people who do not want it can sell it to people who actually want it. I think it is currently the only very rare drop that cannot be sold to other players

Now that I think about it, the music boxes from PoF chests should be tradeable, too

  • leon.5364leon.5364 Member ✭✭

but i don't think arenanet would care to make the endless djinn tonic tradeable

Well I got the Mini Junundu tradeable by requesting it here in the bug report forum, so might as well try again with this

That sounds super lucky. I did the event a lot of times and noone reported an endless tonic drop. So I expect it to be 1 in 1000 or worse

Your experience can't rule out a higher drop rate. I've done the event 3 times, with participation at (approximately) 10, 25, and 40 people (I wasn't in the squad, so not relying on count from that). Let's say that "a lot of times" means ten times (less than a dozen) and that the average participation was 40 people (double what I've experienced). If the true drop rate is 1:200, then there's a 13% chance that you wouldn't have heard about one dropping.

Stats aside, if the true rate is as generous as 1:1000, it's going to mean that tons of people end up with the tonic, given how many people play the game.

Regardless, I don't think it matters whether the tonic is super rare or incredibly rare. It's clearly not a common drop. And, as I said above, ANet needs to choose one method of exclusivity: low rates or account binding — using both on the same item is an incredibly easy way to frustrate the community, rather than a good way to make loot more exciting.

the thing is need to fix is upgrade the time transformation 3 minute is too short for a endless tonic you are agreed with that..the time must we have is like 10 or 15 minute.

When I first did this event on day one, I thought we had to farm the consume potions to make into an endless one similar to how previous chapters we had to buy 50 of an item and Mystic Forge them to an endless. Finding out it was a drop, I knew this would be a hell of a grind.

1:1000 is not even that great seeing as you can only loot the chest once per day per character. But yes, it is quite possible that it would be slightly better or much worse. Collecting enough data will be hard as long as there is no tonic API (which might never come since there isnt even a mount API one year after PoF) so gw2efficiency can make stats for it.

I agree, there is no reason for it to be only 3 minutes, even for the one time consumables

and i hope arenanet will hear that because i really want the endless djinn tonic have a better time transformation them 3 minute.i mean by that you farm like a beast this event over and over again at the end you got him and the sad annoying thing you realise is just 3 minute time

You seem to miss the point: we can't say what the drop rate is, so pretending we know it undermines the argument.

Instead, keep it really simple: regardless of the specific drop rate, if it's rare, it shouldn't be bound.

I hate WoW, because everything is Soulbound or Account bound........ I really wish ANet would allowed everything to be tradeable ...... again......

  • Danikat.8537Danikat.8537 Member ✭✭✭✭

I agree with this - rare, random drops shouldn't be account bound on acquire.

It's annoying if you want it and can't get it, but even more annoying if you get one you don't want. There are few things as frustrating in GW2 as having an item you don't want and you know someone else would love to have but being unable to give it to them. It just feels like such a waste to have a really cool item stuck on your account where it's going to go largely unused.

is really need be more transformation time for a such rare thing.

  • I've been doing the vent multiple times a day across my charecters, I think I have something like 50 normal Djinn tonics now. It really should be tradable, or use a mystic forge recipe that includes the normal djinn tonics.

  • Ashantara.8731Ashantara.8731 Member ✭✭✭✭

I would be content with being able to craft it from the normal version of the tonic, but so far I couldn't find any information on that.

Because you can't. The mystic forge does not accept the basic version, so there is no recipe.

if is was craftable in mystic forge is will be to easy to get the endless tonic djinn

    Pick one, please.

I absolutely agree with this. I also agree with others who have mentioned a way to forge it out of the single use potions. It doesn't have to be easy, but I'd prefer something a little less disappointing.

It could require multiple of the normal Djinn Tonics that you get from the event. So you can do the event a bunch of times and slowly acquire enough tonics to make the endless version. It would remain account bound so it wouldn't be "easy to get".

  • Took me 10 tries to get it, now I wonder if the Fake Joko event drops the datamined Endless Fake Joko Tonic.

That's how most of the endless tonic recipes seem to work, you need 50 or so of the normal version to make it. So this would be in-line with other endless tonics, and it would mean you still need to do the event multiple times to get an endless tonic - it just puts a cap on the number of attempts required.

Probably not, it would have appeared in the API by now (unless droprate is abnormally low of course)

I've almost hit 100 Djinn tonics now, that's 100 times I've done this event and still no endless tonic. What's worrying me is that it's getting harder and harder to get enough people to actually do the events now and I'm not being able to complete it as many times a day as I used too, as a majority of the playerbase has finished with the content and already moved on(less instances of the map). It feels like it won't be long until the map joins the other living story maps as mostly deserted. (Other then the daily worldboss).

Really hope they decide to either make the tonic tradable or create a MF recipe that uses a specific number of the base Djinn tonic (so you would still have to do the event).

I noticed that. The escort seems to fail more often now because Ziya is only a vet and an absurd number of trash mobs spawn at the same time and kill Ziya easily if you have only few people. This is making the escort actually harder than the boss itself.

Even if the true drop rate is 1:100, you wouldn't be guaranteed to get one in 100 tries. (There's roughly a 1-in-3 chance you wouldn't.)

If ANet intended to make this super rare, then 100 tries doesn't seem like that many. Still, as I said above, items should be either bound or rare, not both. If ANet wants to make it special through scarcity while still remaining untradeable, then they could gate it behind a crazy achievement.

  • I've been farming it daily since release with no luck. Random player on map chat: "oh it's rare? I got it on my first try." I'm crying.

Given the number of players there are always people who get something very rare on first try.
