Sound Issue

Last night I was playing on my GW2 game in Heart of Thorns Verdant Brink. Out of nowhere I heard a series of beeps that sounded like a sound test and then no sound at all. Thinking it was the headset I unplugged it and no sound. Then I reset the computer without the headset. Still no sound. I played with my sound settings and no sound. I reinstalled the game and still no luck. Honestly I am not sure what to do at this point. Everything else has sound: my youtube, my other games, etc. even with the headset plugged in. For some reason it is exclusively GW2 lacking sound

    I recall having this problem in the past while the default sound device was changed by nvidia driver for some reason.
    Check that your default sound device is the one setup in guild wars 2.

  • In Sounds - Playback is set to headphones. I tried it with default and specifically set to headphones to no avail. I also tried without the headphones using speakers and Digital Audio (S/PDIF)

  • Make sure that Guild Wars 2, your OS and your physical device all match.

    Open the game settings, go to Audio and put Sound Quality to fastest.
    Check the Master Volume, playback device (select your headphones) and the "Mute when in the background" settings (uncheck it if it's checked)

    You can try a -repair to the client; instructions found in the Knowledge Base, accessed via the 'Support' link above/below and 'Search - Repair'.
    Make sure that your OS audio settings and the game settings match your physical audio set-up. (Headphones, Surround Sound 7.1, Stereo Speakers 2.1, etc.)
