Fastest Way To Level Up A Mastery

Recommended Posts

Opening and exploring maps with different characters can also be a good source of experience, as every piece of map exploration does give experience. Most helpful for me (especially during the early HoT days when you needed certain masteries to continue the expansion story) was changing from the story character to another one for a while and just not worry about the mastery. I could be sure the experience would accumulate while I was enjoying something else :) .

I'd say HOT meta maps and just rolling with the event chains. Events in general are where xp is at. Killing on other hand is the worst way to get xp even with stacking booster multipliers and kill steaks and all that, it's pittance except for Labyrinth... but that paradise is seasonal event map for better or worse.

For masteries, it’s typically best to not prioritize events and instead go for chaining enemy kills. This is why the leather farm on the Lake Doric map is the best one for HoT masteries followed by the escort phase on Dragon’s Stand.

Another option is to do the living story dailies. Each one gives 12,700 XP. You can also preemptively stockpile them in anticipation of future masteries. I purposely stockpiled about 2.2M worth of the PoF ones so I could unlock the new mastery right away.

I apologize ahead of time for asking a ltp question, I have seen this statement made before, but have never been clear what and how is being stockpiled to prep for the next mastery, nor have I been able to find anything on the wiki.

Example chest: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chest_of_the_Jahai_Hero

Each LS map daily chest drops an item that awards XP immediately upon consuming the chest corresponding to the expansion required to access that map. LS3 daily chests only reward HoT XP while LS4 daily chests only reward PoF XP.

Edit: Also unrelated to the thread is that doing the easy/quick LS dailies is a great way to farm karma as you get 1,500 per chest.

I found this old thread with google. Wanted to post some of my experiences since I'm quickly mastering the remaining HoT (which is considered to be slower/harder) and LS3 now. (Still haven't touched mounts, LS4, PoF and Icebrood.)

LS3 masteries are pretty fast. While moving to LS3 after finishing HoT and trying to to lots of events (especially the last meta steps in HoT give lots of exp.) and hearts (on LS3 maps) and all the achievements (LS3 ... there are easy, for HoT the main ones and easy ones) I already got tons of mastery points and tons of exp. Except the first masteries in Verdant Brink when starting HoT (was harder ... no easy access to WPs and to events to WP around as needed) never felt grindy to me.

I have enough mastery point sto master all (except raids) and only the ones for challeging the champs and the very last steps there (adrenal mushroom, nuhoch alchemy and the gathering one in Auric basin last step) left.

I recommend doing events and doing side stuff (achievements on the maps) + moving on to LS3 and doing the same thing there (get 1 new Ancient Magics mastery each map or get the next in advancde then back to HoT and level some of that while doing side stuffe/achievements in the LS3 map until moving to the next map). Worked fine for me. Also the progress saves (I did Gliding 5 and 6 while skipping back to Ancient Magics every now and then when moving to the next LS3 map.)
