Having this issue while connecting on any server with an IP having 2 digits at the beginning being 35. Two of my characters are stuck in an instance of Rata Sum, forcing me to play another one of my characters - a Charr warrior. And just today, this same character can't even go into Plains of Ashford(which I've been in earlier on a couple of times) or he'll get stuck there, so I have to alt + f4 everytime I check to see if the issue is fixed. Both of these servers start with the 35.xxx IP addresses, so I'm guessing I'm barred from entering any instance with any similar IP address. Tried asking support, didn't get an answer on the ticket in days, so I assume that they have no clue what's going on(from an issue originating in 2017 or older, why hasn't this been looked into deeply yet?).

When are they going to give us an option on the character select screen to choose which area in the world our character can spawn, an ability to pick an instance to spawn in, or even automatically a simple change of the instance to another after a minute of waiting on the loading screen if my character can't connect to the one I'm currently joining? Come on devs, people are getting really tired of not being able to play a game we paid for(bought around release time and have both dlcs).

Welp, today has been the worst day for Guild Wars 2. Here's hoping I can still get a full refund for a game that I would consider unplayable, and a support team that has no clue what to do(indicated by their lack of response to a ticket after practically a week of it being up). After having a family member in Germany log into my account and get my character out(since apparently, the internet in Germany actually connects to the game instead of giving an error code 7), I decide to play as my warrior charr and do a dungeon in Queensdale. After doing the dungeon, I get error code 5 directly after finishing it and was locked out for the whole day. Decided not to contact support because I already knew the response message would never arrive.

Next, I hit level 80 as my elementalist Norn. After fully levelling the bar by doing events, I now keep getting an annoying pop up to tell me to pick a mastery - which isn't possible since all of them are locked. So I search for how to disable this pop-up message and apparently, you can't. Why? I have no idea. I do know, however, that the real question is: Why is it shoving a message right in my face when masteries aren't even unlocked yet? So I had to force myself to start the story and get it over with. The story marker tells me to get into Lion's Arch, so I teleport to traders forum and another error code 5 pops up right after. Great, now what the hell do I do? Whatever, I'll try logging in again. Surprise surprise! I made it in! The game decided to puts me back into the area I was previously with the message "the waypoint you've selected has become contested", which I was somewhat fine with. At least I can still play the game...until I follow the green story marker into a portal to Rata Sum and stuck in the same instance with error code 7. What a depressing day.

Since this morning (no Windows 10 updates afaik) the game instantly crashes as soon as I click the .exe

This only happens when I start boot the game up from my SSD, my backup HDD game works flawlessly after patching. arcDPS has been disabled and I don't use any further addons. GW2 is the only programm that doesn't work from my SSD, Overwatch and other games work without problems. I can't do much with the provided error log, -repair does not work, the game just keeps crashing.

Do you have ArcDPS installed? Be sure to update it after every patch (especially any that have skill changes, big or small).

You can also try copying the known-good version exe and .dat files over the one that is causing your trouble.

Running a repair on the version that is having the problem might also help, as well as clearing out the cache and the .tmp files (caution on the last, because that also resets some of your preferences and there's no other way to save them).

Finally, before doing any of that, start a support ticket to ensure a personalized response. ANet support is still suffering from backlog, so the sooner you open, the sooner they can help. (If you resolve the issue on your own, great; you can just tell them and they'll close the ticket.)

PS please use the spoiler tag to hide the error message. Most of it isn't helpful for troubleshooting and it makes it tricky for people to read the thread.(thanks!)

I have had a very bad player experience in gw2 8/29. My game crashed 10 times during that day and I think it has something to do with the Tuesday patch. All of my discord team speak and other stuff is working fine. I would also get kicked to character section screen which I don't normally get kicked to unless gw2 is acting up.

@"Valdacil.5367" said:I was plagued with this problem too. Tried 5 times to complete Victory or Death. Something I read in one of the forums got me thinking and I changed one setting that seems to have helped. I'm not going to guarantee it will work and requires more testing to be confident... but I was able to complete 2 story quests where I'd disconnected repeatedly and my wife also finished one she'd tried 3 times.

Options > General > Streaming > Content Streaming >> change to "On Demand"

The setting was set to 'Idle'. Something someone said in a forum post regarding the disconnects seeming to come during transitions from cutscene to non-cutscene made me think that perhaps the game was trying to get some piece of content and since the download setting was set to Idle, it was waiting for the connection to be Idle. After waiting a period of time, it failed out the download which caused it to lose the instance. By setting it to On Demand, it allows the game to download that content when needed. This is totally just a theory, but has been working for me so far. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

5 bloody hours spent trying to fix this blasted problem. And THIS is what made it finally work. THANK YOU SO MUCH! <3

This seems to happen only in instanced content (raids/fractals), specifically during boss fights. Actually, I'm not sure if this affects other content, since I've only been doing instanced group play and solo WvW roaming. It also started after the Aug 28 patch.

At first, I would crash at every boss in a fractal run, so I tried flushing the DNS cache and updating my graphics driver. This improved the situation to where instead of crashing every fight, it would crash every now and then.

I have tried checking the "--> Crash <--" log, but the latest logged crash was in May, so that doesn't really give me any clues.

Hi,
The game has started crashing my whole laptop as soon as I select one of my characters and enter the world. This has happened since July 2018. I was playing Path of fire for about 2 weeks prior with NO issues. I've been plays GW2 for 4 or 5 years now and this never happened before.Date of crash: initial crash July 8th 2018. Every log on since then has crashed.Location: USA
North America WorldThis is the Blue Screen code for today: IRQL Not Less of Equal and I have almost never gotten the same code for any of the crashes.Game Advisor: I just ran the client but I don't know how to attach the file, because it is huge. It would be copying and pasting pages and pages of information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Friendly reminder that this is still going on. Fresh windows 10 install, felt like playing GW2, downloaded it. Made a new character. I keep getting DCed within a minute with an error 7. Switched Streaming to On Demand.

After the fourth DC and my very first heart still at 3/4ths I'm calling it quits.

The first time that I tried to play after the update, I didn't get past the character selections screen. Was presented with a dialog box with space for comments & sent that off. This image attached is from the second time soon after. I was able to get into the game, play approximately 2 to 3 minutes before the disconnect.

After getting nowhere with support on this issue, I stopped playing for over a year. I just came back, thinking "they have to have fixed this by now, right?" Nope. Got booted out of the very first story instance I tried to play (of course, it was at the very end). Put in a new ticket; no response after 48 hours.

After 4 days, I finally got a response from support. They told me to make sure the game was fully downloaded (it is), that content streaming was set to on-demand (it was), and finally, to set the frame limiter to 60FPS. I haven't yet had time to test it with the frame limiter, but how on earth could that lead to disconnects? Furthermore, if setting it to unlimited causes these disconnection issues, then it is a bug that should have been fixed (or at least acknowledged) in the year and a half since. At the very least, I shouldn't just now be hearing about it as a potential fix since this is the third time I've attempted to engage support on the exact same issue.
