Thank you for this update on March 26 with meaningful balance changes that impact WvW and PvP gameplay. For the first time, I am beginning to think the balance team is dedicating more time to balancing these game modes,

The 33% barrier reduction on Bulwark gyro should reduce the bunkering sustain ability for all scrapper builds. Now Scrapper's have to take some healing power to benefit more from taking this skill.

Fixing the Necro bug that prevented boons from being corrupted upon detonation.

And multiple WvW Warclaw changes and more.

Now I know some players will say it's not enough, but honestly, this is exactly what we needed as a gaming community.

More frequent small updates with meaningful changes to appropriately balance the game.

    I mean scrappers already took healing power so this literally makes NO difference.

    So if barrier is going to go off of vitality and healing power they're just gonna bunk you again. They don't give any care if they have any damage in top of this or not.

    There are tons of scrapper builds like demolisher or paladin's amulet that didn't require any healing power to be effective.

    At least now a scrapper has to take mender's or a little healing power amulet to utilize bulwark gyro. It was overpowered, and the 33% barrier reduction was completely justified.

    The only question is whether it will be enough to stop a full bunker meta this season.

    But my point, is that if more frequent changes are coming to address balance issues, PvP and WvW will be better off.

    Look at all the old PvP players that came back after Mirage was nerfed. It needed to happen, but took way to long to happen.

    Scourge has been changed multiple times as well. At least ANET fixed the necro bug that prevented Boons from being corrupted on their new nerfed ability.

    If it makes you feel better, call these hot fixes and not a balance patch. But small frequent changes, no matter what you want to call them, is what PvP and WvW desperately needs.

    Yep for some reason the Barrier is still pulsing 10k barrier total, might be a bug.

  • it is bugged (in all game modes), bulwark gyro applies BOTH the pvp and pve/wvw values with each pulse. If you open the combat log it will show as 2 separate instances of barrier per pulse

    The new nerfed barrier amount is being added to the skill instead of replacing the old barrier.

    Seems bugged, double application or numbers and doesn't seems to scale properly with the healing power too. If you have to invest in healing power it should scale better, the healing power affect it too low. Perhaps the coefficient is wrong or is bad and should be higher.

    Wish Anet would get into the habit of adjusting skills by changing scaling instead of outright reducing (nuking, even) the output. Bulwark Gyro's scaling with HP was already pretty pitiful.

    Exactly this. We were asking for scaling changes for warrior already, now scrapper... but we basically never get purposeful changes. Instead of improving choices for amulets they dumb up and down whole skills. Makes me sad.

    It is at least something comes pretty near to a hotfix in its intention. Can't remember anything like this happend since years. If they would have done something like this to post hot bunker chrono we might would still have esl. I keep my hope up that it will get better. Its a little light on the horizon.

    did very little. Had a scrapper on both teams, both took 5/6 , 6/6 top stats.

    Probably because the bulwark gyro changes are bugged and the barrier amounts haven't actually gone down yet. :3

    Yes.. thank god they nerfed one of the classes that needed it the least. And not scourages,rangers,mesmers or thieves... facepalm

    If I'm not mistaken, what's going on is it's applying both the PvE and PvP/WvW pulses of the barrier, so it's as if you're getting double pulses of barrier: one for the PvE amount, and one for the PvP/WvW amount. it's an odd, but kind of funny, bug.

    Why would the need to nerf thieves, scourges or mesmers?! None of them is out performing.

    Scourages have stupid amounts of condi/corruption, mesmer have broken shatter builds and thieves have perma stealth and op staff builds.. take your pick.

    Scourges also have stupid amounts of deaths, mesmer has broken nerfs and thieves have perma 11k hp

    Yes, thanks, because it isn't as though we had anything else to offer a team other than buggy might work half the time might not rez bots or the ability to take damage while those abilities were up. Now we're just fodder again for mindless, glass build bursting which is all this game has become anymore. Believe it or not some scrappers actually wanted to be able to use those hammers again for once in a long, long time. Not now. But all's well for the rest of you.

    Now you're safe to go back to what you had before, bunkering in your own rights and not even having to plan your bursts around scrappers. Just simply ploughing through them, especially 2v1. The two gyros in question, Bulwark and sneak, are once again a joke. Sneak isn't even worthy of being an elite, and everything else gyro? They're even worse because now we have to get toe to toe with someone to even activate them and with the terrible input lag involved in even deploying them we'll be toast. But I guess that's par for the course when it comes to engineers in general.

    What should we expect? You weren't content leaving us with the worst implementations of rifle and pistol, gutting turrets, gutting alchemy, leaving kits in a non competitive state -especially explosives -where with grenades you robbed us of range then gave it to mortar kit which is an even bigger joke and slower traveling even with the changes. The best part is your denying us weapon swap while using those same rubbish kits as your justification for doing so. And you couldn't stop there. It wasn't enough to stick us with one lousy melee elite, you then give us a second melee elite in holosmith because you couldn't even be bothered to give us something innovative, something that wasn't intended to fight at six hundred range and under - which is where we've been stuck...forever. And it doesn't even matter how much damage holo does. It's bloody dull to play.

    So grand. Now we're back to being one of the most easily kited professions minus the ability to offer much of anything else to a team beyond a handicap. Kudos, ANet. This is almost drop the mic worthy.

    I'm not even talking about Mirages for over a year and the recent Scrapper changes that went way overboard. I'm talking about obvious bugs.

    Just with Necros, we've seen hotfixes that had to be made every patch. You guys changed Epidemic and it was bugged so obvious that anyone who just played for 10 minutes could have noticed. You guys introduce new Runes and don't even check the interaction with traits like Abrasive Grit. (Actually, this is a case where you didn't even need to play to realize there was a problem on paper.) However, just playing for 5 minutes would have shown the problem and the fix was so obvious as well.

    Now, we have a totally new shroud created, and it somehow passed internal testing without even corrupting boons??? How is this possible???

    You guys would be much better off actually PLAYING the various professions BEFORE releasing a patch. Bugs are possible, but the ones we've been seeing lately should be embarrassing by any objective measure.

    Here's another hint you will find...splitting PVE versus PVP is lazy, but if you're going to do it, then you should realize that WvW and sPvP are NOTHING alike. Thus, you need to split all three if you are going to use the logic that PvE is different from PvP. The things you do to nerf WvW are NOT always necessary in sPvP and vice versa. In fact, they cause even MORE problems in one or the other, so please play the game more and realize you have 3 different types of gameplay, so patch accordingly.

    Im not sure which 6k barrier you are talking about but it yesterday after 'nerf' I had to go through 11k barriers....again and again....

    If you havent noticed they rather STREAM EVERY OTHER GAME THAN THEIR OWN . How they arent getting fired for NOT playing their OWN game ?
    I dont count recent clownfiesta and I really mean PLAY the game,not just pretending they do

    I'm aware, but it's unintended behaviour as dev suggested above and they're aiming for 6-7k with the 33% nerf.

    They must get more lay offs for balancing their game like monkeys . Anyone who would play the game for at least few minutes will see broken interaction between trait and since i'm usually playing mesmer I'm pissed how clueless they are about their own state of the classes and listen to whiners that never played it instead of ppl who did . Since you probably I do sound like incissor you should understand this : they nerf core ,they take away things that existed for mesmer for 5 years ,then put into single trait to remove it entirely later. They handle over 50% damage/duration nerfs all the time they fail to balance .Ignored the most obvious overperforming scepter and evasive mirror and chaos that made it competitive and still proceed to be an issue.
    "we had layoffs so enjoy another 50-67% damage nerfs"
