What profession do you enjoy using most to support and help out others?

Helping people unlock specialization and mastery insights, doing meta events, carrying nooblings through dungeons and fractals, and all other ways of assisting your fellow player new and old. Some professions are more obviously built to support than others. I'm just wondering what everyone enjoys running most as their "help some buddies out" profession. Bonus points for why!

Personally I enjoy Ranger(druid) the most right now, but mesmer is a close second with them portals.

Engineer: Scrapper and Core

Why?There is almost no way not to support your environment. Engineer is probably the most underestimated class in Guildwars 2, thanks to our ridiculously low damage output (auto-attacks) and our complex rotations. Here is a small overview of what a good Engineer/Scrapper is capable of:

  • Fast resurrecting downed allies from an extended distance or close by. With the option to supply barrier upon resurrection for the downed ally and every player who bothered to resurrect the person in that downed state.
  • Stacking might, regeneration or swiftness.
  • Group protection buff, situationally, to prevent allies from getting downed by a single attack. The effect can be doubled (= total of 66 % damage reduction for a short time).
  • Reflecting projectiles personal (= facetanking) and group.
  • Cleansing lots of conditions in short time.
  • Healing active and passive.
  • Granting stealth to allies and maintaining stealth while walking AND/OR granting mass stealth with the same duration as Shadow Refuge of the Thief.
  • Stealth reconnaissance.
  • Granting super-speed to allies (unique together with Tempest). At the stairs in the Uncat Fractal, a Scrapper can e. g. cast a projectile reflecting dome and grant his allies superspeed to carry the entire group unharmed to the top.
  • Granting swiftness/superspeed to NPCs to speed up escort-events.
  • Crowd Control, plenty. Mesmers always claim to be superior in this and Warriors if they use the dual mace build (= NEVER). In a small group, a good Engineer can take out an entire break-bar of a legendary boss, in larger groups maybe half. It depends on the build of course and whether the person is a ew-user or not.
  • Slowing, stunning enemies.
  • Granting Stability to allies, situationally.

Scrapper can be played on survival, so you can aid and protect your allies even in extremely hostile areas without the need of a healer. Last man standing. It can also quickly recover from severe damage. When I play hammer, I like to rush/leap inside a devastating AoE attack, blocking the damage and starting to resurrect allies instantly after they got downed.

I tend to use a Revenant when I lose hope for a party, mainly for Herald's boon support and the staffs cc (a lot of players don't know when or how to break breakbars). Plus you can play full dps and still manage a res or two thanks to the damage-to-health ability on herald heal and ressing trait.

I made a healcromancer build when HoT came out. It was not the best build but after two years of testing and practice, PoF came out and scourge was the last piece needed for perfection. If you ever fight the executioner bandit, you can prevent any downs from happening if you use transfusion. If you're fighting the legendary moa, you'll have a handful of downs due to confusion. You can do a mass rez with the transfusion/well of blood/lesser well of blood combo and get everyone up in less than 3 seconds. I get a lot of praise from PvErs for my ability to pull friendlies to safety. Its the same thing for PvP and WvW. If an enemy is about to stop your teammate, whip out that transfusion and pull your teammate away from the enemy right before the stop xD You will confuse the guy more if you using transfusion from behind lol. Also, you can put out heavy barrier with Harbinger Shroud and if you time it correctly, you can max it out with a combo.

I'd have to say Mesmer, more specifically, my Condi Mirage. Equipped with Superior Runes of Tormenting, not only can she avoid a lot of damage via mirage cloak, she also has crazy healing, especially against a large group. Toss in Portals and, I suppose, Mass Invis, and she is a great toolbox to help others with open world.

For Fractals though, my go to is Guardian. I used to play Core Guard (Zeal/Radiance/Virtues) because the Virtues trait gives my party extra utility through my F1-F3 skills. Running Feel My Wrath (for quickness) or Signet of Courage (passive healing) as an elite, and you have competitive DPS with lots of utility baked in. Since Chrono was gutted though, I've been playing Quickbrand in Fractals, and the 100% uptime on quickness is big DPS boost for the party.

Have to go Necromancer now since the Spirit changes pretty much destroyed my main Ranger builds support ability.

Suffice to say my Necro gives a lot of downed support, stopping bleed out, pulling and reviving, also gives some small lifesteal and is able to put out 4-5K AoE healing fairly regulaly with shroud 4.I like to think of it as a sort of combat medic who can fight, heal a little, pull downed players out of danger and get them back in the fight. It also has the added benefit of being almost impossible to kill without totally giving up all of it's damage so it's capable of soloing just about anything in the PvE game while carrying everyone else around it and keeping them alive.
