Sure it would. The only thing that changed for risen and mordrem when Zhaitan and Mordremoth died was that the mind controlling the magic was gone, and those smart enough could control the magic instead. The bond is a sharing of magic between Aurene and the Commander; the magic persists in the Commander, and the mind never controlled it.

It won't make sense for a new bond mastery to be made, but it makes sense for the old ones to remain.

Hmm but if not a new mount or new crystal champion, what will E6 have?

Very good question.

When did I disagree with that?

Misread your post it seems. And perhaps was still focused on the original comment.

To properly respond to your post: I never said we'd learn a new mastery in the Crystal Champion line, only that the current ones persisting would still make sense. So to quote you now: "When did I disagree with that?"

With the warclaw, I've kind of thought maybe they'll add a new mastery to each mount, to give us a skill 2 that can deal damage but doesn't disengage.

Would also burn through mastery points buildup like crazy since each one would be at least 5 points per (except 4 for raptor) - that's a minimum of 29 points to use up, and we currently have 28 spare if you get every non-raid mastery, but the last three releases individually added the same as or over what episodes 1-2 added combined (E1=3, E2=4, E3=7, E4=8, E5=9). If Ep6 also gives 8, and then we'll have 36 to spare; this doesn't count the raids, either.

Regarding dragons, Anet really can only choose the order; because they have established pretty clearly that Jormag's and Primordus' magics are direct counters to each other, we will probably only tackle them at once if they ever come back. So we can either get Bubbles first then P&J (if GW2 doesn't end first...) or something something and they wake up before we can tackle the one last dragon.

They might actually have three of them come to us at once, but this is highly unlikely, for two reasons. The first is the obvious scaling issues this would bring, we have enough Dragon Ball syndrome as it is and they would not be able to make the actual story do justice to how larger than life the combination of 3 Elder Dragons at once should be. The second reason is because I don't think they really have anything planned beyond the dragons for an overarching plot. GW2 is about the dragons at heart and likely it's going to "end" with them.

As for other subplots, I agree that Charr homelands is very likely to be next, regardless of the next dragon plot.

I wouldn't be so certain of this. For three main reasons:

  1. First, as you say, we can tackle the dragons in any order that ArenaNet chooses. This extends to how we tackle the dragons being up to how ArenaNet chooses. Even if they established that they're counter to each other ,that doesn't mean that we must make a sync kill.
  2. In Episode 3, it's also shown that powerful fire magic in general can counter Jormag's ice magic - the kodan use gifts from the Spirit of Fire to ward off Jormag's corruption, while Braham used a jotun scroll imbuing weapons with powerful fire magic (not linked to Primordus at that) to crack Jormag's tooth; this scroll was also used by Aesgir to dislodge said tooth in the first place. This is a bit of an addendum with point 1, as it shows that we need not use Primordus' magic to damage Jormag's body, but ArenaNet could still establish yet a new means of fighting Jormag and/or Primordus.
  3. In Season 3, it's also heavily suggested that not only are Jormag and Primordus opposites, but so are Mordremoth and Zhaitan. This is most evident in Episode 3 (but also has an allusion to it in Episodes 5 and 6) with the Unstable Abomination and the Mordrem/Risen Grubs nearby. This leads to the possibility that every Elder Dragon is in a pair. Which would make the opposition of Jormag and Primordus not their unique weaknesses as Taimi thought, but rather, just one of the three countering pairs (thus, Mordremoth and Zhaitan would be opposites, and Kralkatorrik and the DSD would be opposites).

Addendum to point 3: Taimi's simulation in Episode 5 about the world dying if we use the machine may be specific to using opposing Elder Dragons' magic counter to each other. At the end of the episode, we have volatile Jormag and Primordus magic dispersed around the area, and we also see a violent reaction when exposing the Unstable Abomination and nearby grubs in Ep3 to theoretically-opposite magic as the individuals explode or are damaged too. Though the whole "world ends with one more ED death" has been restated by Kormir and Sadizi, it may be that regardless of how many ED are dead/alive, using countering ED magic could prove fatal to the world due to the exposure of volatile magic.

The second reason is because I don't think they really have anything planned beyond the dragons for an overarching plot. GW2 is about the dragons at heart and likely it's going to "end" with them.

Which wouldn't have been a problem before the layoffs and honestly could be why they decided to begin going into new projects outside of GW2. If they planned to let Primordus and Jormag live for a potential GW3, then with/after Season 5 they'd deal with the DSD and GW2 ends/goes into maintenance.

However, thanks to the Powers That Be Assholes (aka NCSoft CEOs and shareholders), ArenaNet is forced to continue GW2 until further notice. Granted, we wouldn't see the end of GW2 until 2021 at the very, very, very earliest if the above layout were done, so it could still be on the table, but I doubt ArenaNet would risk it after the mass layoffs, not anytime soon.

GW2 could potentially go on forever, so long as ArenaNet avoids furthering the Dragonball Syndrom of ever-increasing threats. Kralkatorrik being the reality-ending threat is where Elder Dragons should be, and I hope that the DSD is on par to it, whether or not we also deal with Jormag/Primordus in GW2. But any other threat need not be so bad. The Commander is still mortal, and can still be killed by a smart mortal after all (this is why Lazarus, Caudecus, and Joko had such strong, but ultimately wasted, potential; they were cunning, manipulative mortals who could put the Commander through the ringer through brains rather than brawn).

You're right, I did not think through about your point 3 before. It might be that they are actually not each other's unique weaknesses and therefore that wouldn't really be the one way to beat them.

As for the continuing plot of GW2, there are indeed many more possibilities for it to keep going on, and Anet is definitely into pressure to keep the game running indefinitely by now. However, what I meant is that the game more or less thrives since its start from the "reality-ending threat" always looming over our heads. Having plots like that of Lazaurs, Caudecus and Joko is amazing, and allows for the addition of much needed depth to the Commander and the rest of the cast - but on the other hand, we had no such plot present before without an overarching and imposing larger thing happening around us. I'm thinking of something along the lines of FFXII: that game had a large overarching political drama happening in spite of the player characters while they had their own path to follow, that tied into said drama explicitly but allowed for its own self contained obstacles, villains and developments. I don't think GW2 is going to leave the dragons behind during its lifetime and move onto exclusively smaller conflicts, it's more likely IMO that they always remain a threat in one way or another as long as GW2 doesn't go into maintenance mode, but we do get all the other "smart villains" going about while the larger thread unfolds, perhaps even unfolding without our direct input.
