A guardian and a mesmer : which from Orr, which from Vabbi ?

Hello. I have a human guardian and a mesmer of the same species, and I want to have one of them being of vabbian descent, and the other one being of orrian descent (hence the Scavenger's Causeway). So, my question is : which of these two descents would fit each profession the most, all of this while taking the elite specializations into account ?

Well, it was bothering me because in the lore, firebrands were stated to be vabbian librarians, and though the mesmers are somewhat tied to Vabbi, Mirages are tied to the Crystal Desert itself, and their magical mirrors which create areas of illusion can make you think to the way orrians did mesmerism (i.e. Lord Kitah).

Orr was an intensely magical nation, though actual direct descendants would be rare. The only known "Orrian" we have in the GW2 era is the one queen's gauntlet contestant who can be found running around LA at times.

The Scavenger's causeway would've been filled with Risen, probably near the site of the hinted at battles between Joko's Awoken and the Risen of Zhaitan.

In terms of family descent, either actually work. Vabbi has an obvious history of heavy Lyssa devotion you could play off of pretty easily. I believe the firebrand lore mentions Vabbian libraries because vabbi was the nation in Elona with the most written knowledge/sources of knowledge around, but the firebrands took this knowledge and lore/wisdom of Istan and kourna as well for power.

I'd probably say for ease of use, Vabbian ancestors for the Mesmer, Orr ancestors for the guardian. You could use that rather well, I think if the Orrian family line passed down stories of how Orr was destroyed and sank, which could be a nice explanation for the guardian protective magic focus. "We couldn't do anything about Orr back then, but we can try to help where we are able."

Weird, I was sure that I'd replied to this, but it seems to be missing...

There is another example of an Orrian - there's a Pact member in Malchor's Leap who comments about having Orrian ancestry.

With regards to elite specialisations: I wouldn't take too much stock in the Path of Fire elite specialisations, since apart from Renegede I think they're all associated with Elona.

Mesmers seem to have been highly regarded in both: Vabbi had Lyssa as its patron goddess in GW1 (before Joko took over...) while in Orr we see a lot of high-ranking mesmers and Lyssa's cathedral is one of the bigger cathedrals.

On the other hand, Guardians didn't exist when Orr fell (although Risen Putrifiers seem to have guardian-like behaviour), while the guardian's background has been linked to Elona: Sea of Sorrows has that line about "a pile of Elonian protective magic" and there was an interview back when the guardian was first revealed (sadly lost) which described the initial inception of the guardian being a meeting of minds between Paragon refugees from Elona arriving in Kryta and Monks that were fed up with being everyone's focus target and wanting to train more martial fighting techniques. So from a historical perspective, the Guardian is more connected to Elona, while Mesmers are present in both: therefore, from this perspective, the Guardian is more suited to be Vabbian, and the Mesmer would be Orrian by process of elimination.

That said, you may have other considerations than purely historical. Looking at the HoT elite specialisations, Chronomancer is fairly generic, but Dragonhunter does have a thematic focus around destroying dragon minions. So it would make sense for an Orrian descendant to go down that path motivated by the desire to to fight against Zhaitan's minions, while again, mesmer works for either.
