Best class for ranked

xp eke xp.6724xp eke xp.6724 Member ✭✭

Hello guys, imo druid is one of the best classes for ranked, esp if you play solo.

Why?
Druid is "the" allrounder, means he can do all things that are needed at a match at secondbest. Thats important cause if you play well, you will allways have tools to support your team or doing the most needed role.

With other words: all specialised classes like duellist, roamers, supporters, can´t help out at some points that will automatically happen in a match: like cleaving, healing, rezzing, bursting, so on.

So druid has allways a chance to bring an impact at the match no matter what others do:

  • If you play bad, you will have at least the highest chance to do something (at least you have a pet that do automatically something).
  • If your good, you can carrie by doing whats most nessesary and you can adapt on the players close to all situations (no matter wich side)

thats why i think allrounders can do at most progress, ofc that doesn´t mean you will win for free.

The reason why, i dont play it:

  • cause it´s really difficult
  • I want to chill on ranked (for me only tournaments have a reason to tryhard and there i can count better on my team)

Duos are kinda different and there are more options, to maximise your chances. Imo there is not a "best" option at all.

Whats your opinion? what class/ role or build has the best chances to win a match if you solo?

Probably Spellbreaker is the best spec for soloQing. It's the best sidenoder bar none, can apply solid pressure in teamfights, and has high mobility. Holosmith is strong for soloQ as well.

I wouldn't say Druid is a very good choice unless you're satisfied with gold division or lower. It was ripped apart by balance updates ages ago.

Anything but ranger is good for ranked. At this moment ranger can't find place in good teams and people prefer other professions. Don't get me wrong -the ranger can offer mediocre mobility and good burst dmg (but not sustainable damage), but in mobility and in damage (1vs1 or XvsX) there are a lot better options. So, unless ANET buff or positively change the ranger, anything else is more suitable for ranked.

    Wishlist:
Everything that kills me should be nerfed
Remove all time gates - I play more than some people yet I receive the same rewards per day/week (PvP/WvW tickets etc)
ANET developments/events and everything else should be in a schedule with the time I play

SB can duell, but at teamfights you have too les pressure outside of rampage (and not even that if they have protect and 1 blind skill).
holo has there more options, maybe also enouth to fill the "allround" role well enouth.

    @ bOTEB
im not speaking about ranger as core or SB cause they arent allrounders, so they have less options, to react on every situation. Let me explain on one situation

support a low teammate on teamfights as druid:

    • go on avatar and heal.
    • or he can pressure one enermie with his petburst to punish him if that one stay offensive
    • he can use his cc comb on avatar to pressure on aoe (means also, minimal one player needs to be carreful)
    • stay at range for a rezz against no cleave, or at least less cleave
    • go avatar and leave instand to stealth him and give him superspeed (what ignores snares)
    • use Sublime Conversion + Ancestral Grace to stop projectiles and heal a liddle back
    • pressure one player with LB (or GS)

most of these options can be combinated or happen at the same time and if you do well, your mate has more life then before, he has his own defences back and the enermies looses cds and lifepoints or have to disengage/ regroup. Means now you have another situation, and there you also have a lot of options.

You seem to confuse allrounder with "can do everything but is good at nothing".
You cannot 1v1 since spellbreaker facerolls druids

druid isn't completely useless at duelling a duellist.

You can 1v1 them but only to hold a cap/decap. It still need a long time, till he caps the point full against druid and till then normally a mate should +1 you or change with you places. if they don't the druid can also leave it to join a teamfight or decap another point...

Also if he gets +1ed he escape for free, to join again the teamfight or to stay and hold them busy...

Oh and if you don't believe me, watch ROM playing druid. (I know that he plays atm more soulbeast, but he did what i'm telling)

And now tell me another class that can do that and also help at teamfights to pressure single targets, heal, cleave, rezz, disengage teammates, aoe cc, so on...

A hint: there is exactly one other and he is a little harder cause druids got pets that do stuff even if you are bad xD

You have close to no impact in teamfights that is dominated by fb+scourge+rev

You have 0 impact with every other class if they dominate with rev, scourge and fb.. So i prefer at least a little then none.

And if they don't dominate for free, you have again the biggest tools to do something useful...

If druid loses 1v1 to the most played sidenoder it is completly useless in this role, yes.

And other classes have impact in a tf even tho it gets dominated by fb+scourge+rev.
An example is scrapper who brings additionally high support and rezz opportunities or holo and core guard that bring high burst potential and cc.
Druid on the other doesn't bring anything of it.

    druid? lol maybe in 2014

spellbreaker, firebrand or scrapper can carry fights single-handed.

firebrand if you have a team to support, if everyone just yolos evrywhere then you might aswell afk (shouldn't be an issue plat and above :p )

in my experience they are only annoying to kill some times. I think weaver is pretty strong right now. Good mobility, good dmg great sustain, and if you in need of dps you can play the fire build. I'd say Spellbreaker is your hardest match up, scourges can be annoying too, all the other match ups you can survive or win.

Spellbreaker, holo and boonbeast are great as well.

rev seems to be super good right now too, but i knkw kitten about it to tell

That build does not work in higher ranks. Too few cleanses and the damage is mainly by one condition and therefor easily cleansed. It is a meme build, works until Plat1/2ish (and, again, depending on comp).

Weaver is not too weak, but it is extremely hard to carry games with it due to low snowballing potential. Because of low damage (or low survivability with fire or FA).

I just assumed this was a low rank post, as the ppl in higher ranks already know what is good and what is not. I play the fire weaver 10-15% of my matches, and in lower ranks what made me win matches as water weaver was "entertain" my enemies (2+) and not kill all of em, which is easily doable up to gold 3, where ppl start to be aware you just wasting their time while your team outnumbers theirs elsewhere.

  • Honestly if you like playing ranger you might consider Soulbeast. Damage is pretty insane right now, and it really isn't too hard to get the hang of. It's also really good for climbing in soloQ ranked because there's very little most classes and most dodge-impaired players can do to avoid the burst. Depending on your amulet and runes you can be sustain pretty long, and they have dope mobility for kiting, rotating, etc.

If you prefer bunker like Druid used to be... Scrapper is really good at taking side-nodes and not dying, and Firebrand is support. Just apply that to teamfights in the case of Firebrand.

If you want the objectively best class, that's honestly going to be hard to find here. There's too much personal bias injected into everything to make an informed decision. Usually everyone will say it's either Herald, Scrapper, Holo, Spellbreaker, Soulbeast, or FB.

Some work better in different contexts as well like... if you plan to DuoQ, you may as well run double Herald or double Holo, or replace one with Soulbeast. Chain CCs into huge unblockable damage spikes roll most players, dodge-impaired or not.

    Remove Ranked DuoQ pls&ty

Well, you might be right about your assumption.

Fire weaver can definitely be fun! Many people are really surprised by the burst.^^

there really no best class, for 1 balance patch it can be super strong, the next balance patch it could be nerfed to the ground

at the end of the day, a class is only as good as your are if you dont practice and improve your game play

The only reason druid works is because half the players dont know it can double rez every 60 sec

Boonbeast will probably give you the easiest time in PvP. While it doesn't have the huge burst of some other builds, it also doesn't have any real counters. So you can do a lot on your own, if you team is bonkers. You'll be able to do good damage, sustain, high mobility, and provide good team support.

Boonbeast counters: Spellbreaker, Holo, condi Mirage, core Thief, RNG, any +1, I'm sure I've missed a few.

Holo, SB and soul beat are your best options. Not very dependent on allies. And as balance currently stands better than almost everything else.

Rev, FB and necro are good, but you will be more dependent on allies.

Engi. Both especs are broken af right now. You can play scrapper and get carried to plat without even dodging.
