What If Anet Make New Skills Exclusive to PvP/WvW?

I'm seeing a lot of PvP thread lately mainly about matchmaking due to population drop with a bit of old balance issues so i was wondering:

  • What if Anet, instead of applying bandage aid on same skill, they just rework that skill to function completely different from their PvE counterpart?

Would that create more issues?

It is confusing, when your skills change depending on game mode and judging by gw2 history, skill splits don’t affect balance enough to justify that. It is fairly easy to nerf/buff classes in either pvp or pve without affecting the other game mode too much, as both modes have different requirements, which becomes obvious when you look at the top pve builds and the top pvp builds; there is very little overlap.

And that's the issue with the pvp gameplay balance, Anet can slipt skills but cant change the behavior to much sicne soome stuff is ment to overperform in pve and pvp.

You can easily nerf whatever is unfun or overperforming in pvp and still keep the class pve relevant by buffing other things that aren’t useful in pvp (and that is assuming that the pvp changes affect pve enough which often isn’t the case). Just look at dh, it’s complete garbage in pvp while a top-tier power dps in pve at the same time and everything that’s needed in order to make it viable in pvp, would hardly (if at all) affect pve. It’s the same for revenant, you could nerf power shiro without affecting pve as the revenant meta for pve is renegade anyway.

DHis hard to talk about since DH is simpla a bad designed class, DH can be quite powerfull on spvp but the way that Anet made it to play is way tomuch preditacble, due traps....stealth pull.

I just said dh as it’s the most obvious example but just go and compare top-performing pve and pvp builds and you will notice that there are hardly ever the same or even similar, which shows that it is easily possible to change balance in either mode without screwing over the other.

People need to realize that pve is not the reason why pvp fails, neither in terms of balance nor in other things. Just looking for a scapegoat and blaming everything on it doesn’t improve the situation in the long run. As soon as it is gone, people will realize that the same issue(s) remain and look for a new scapegoat. It has happened many times and it keeps happening but it is not a healthy attitude.
