We talked in-game for a short while, but that is not really the medium for longer conversations. I'm currently in an USA guild with an -11 hour time difference. This means their weekly agenda: WvW, HoT/PoF trains, World Boss train, Fractals, Raiding & Guild Missions that happen in their evening will happen for me in the next day mornings. Most of them I can do, but after 1-2 hours I have to start working. Hence I'm looking for a local time guild and SG is +1 hour from me. I had a quick look at your web site to get an idea of your guild. Before switching or temporary joining, I have some questions:

  • Is this an elite/hardcore guild or also for newcomers and casual players? On the first page of this topic the major focus is on Raids.
  • Do you have a daily activity schedule like I mentioned in the agenda? For newcomers and alts you can get 250 HP and a few MP in a HoT run, which is great for maxing (elite) skill.
  • How talkative and helpful are your members? When you ask a question or seek assistance, you expect an answer within 5 mins or so when there are 15+ people online. It's even better when people that are better at JPs help you with a teleporting mesmer or teleport gadget. Some people may even plant an alt at the end of one for future assistance.
  • Some members expect you to do storylines all by yourself as they are "easy". For older gamers and newcomers they might be difficult. I don't expect an experienced player to hold my hand every time, but I would love it if people do them together as it is more fun and it is less frustrating if you keep dying and can't find out what you are doing wrong. What is your view on this?
  • In my current guild there are people that almost have full home instances and invite people to gather materials. With years playing comes knowledge and I seem to lack a lot of it. Do you have "lore officers" that help you improve your crafting, fighting, etc? I had to get most of my knowledge from YouTube and only recently found out there even was a home instance.

Hi, I'm Lu, one of the guild officers. I will try to answer your questions best i can.

  1. We have all types of players, from casual to hardcore, and we cover all activities (PvE explorable, WvW, raids, fractals, guild missions, ...).
  2. We have a weekly schedule. We call in guild chat half an hour before the activity starts. They are however optional (up to you if you want to join or not).
  3. We have a very helpful community and quite active in chat (both in game and in discord). You can ask questions and will always get answers. However, I cannot guarantee that you get a reply within 5 minutes. If those who have the answers are busy fighting or else, they will not interrupt what they do and there will be some delay. We have specialist jumpers porting at JPs, vistas or else upon request.
  4. For stories, usually, if you ask in guild chat, you will get someone to come with you (this is valid for everything, not only stories). We are a very mixed bunch of players. Some like to do it as a team, like you, some others like to solo stories. Generally, there are many different ways to play in this game. Our guild does not favorise one over the others. Each is free to choose what suits him/her best and will find other guildies joining. That's the advantage of a big guild like we are.
  5. We have players with full home instance (like me for example). They call several times during the day for farming rounds, usually in the town of the daily gathering to allow easy completion. I'm not sure what you mean with "lore" officers, but we have several officers who help a lot at all sort of activities. For example, I can help you at crafting if you would like it.

Now globally, that you join our guild or not, I would like to share information:

  • You say that you learn most from YouTube: I would recommend you to favorise Wiki. In case you don't know, wiki can be reached directly from game chat. For example, if you have an item in your inventory and you don't know what to do with it, you can type in chat: /wiki name of item and you will be taken directly to the page about that item. The section "Used in" down the page will then show you all what you can do with this item. This is exactly the same if you want to know how to obtain an item, only this time you look the paragraph "Acquisition" on same page. And so on... Wiki is our best friend to play this game. :)
  • In this game, there are many different ways to go, and that for everything. There is no rule that one is better than another. It's all a matter of preferences. As a consequence, for one question, you will always get several different answers. All of them are correct. It's more a matter of choosing the one suiting best your way to play.

I hope that I have answered most of your questions. Should you want to ask more, feel free to pm me in this forum or to reply here again. :)
