Elementalist Needs New Blood

Open all weapons for all classes XDI also wonder, if they wanted core/hot/pof elite to feel different, if they made the skills differently for them (on the same weapons). That might not gel with a lot of people, but I thought it would be interesting anyway.eg, d/d on core ele would have different skills than a tempest or weaver etc, d/d on core thief would have different wep skills than daredevil/deadeye, etc, it would each be a distinct unique flavour. And then have the option of core/hot/pof stance for whichever you prefer to use on that weaponsetAnet should open 4th specialisation slot for pve too :p muhaha

Frankly, everything feels like this right now; we're overdue for an expansion/gw3. If I want to feel 'fresh' I just play a different class, but even then combat just doesn't feel all that dynamic anymore. Although, I'm appreciating the bit of life this last patch injected into the class.

They can maybe add weapons for core, no need for trait lines, utilities, new maps, etc. Just something completely fresh and straight out of the oven.

This seems more similar to an elite spec idea that I posted about a while ago.

Ice bow (shortbow) should have been a core Elementalist weapon from the start, I hope an elite adds it. Right now as nice as all the weapon sets are, there's nothing actually dedicated to support - I mean, staff is okay, but compare it to something like Druid staff and meh.

I think that's what bugs me about Ele ranged weapon sets? Its all just waiting around on flashy spells with big cooldowns. I feel like you have to play melee to get any kind of dynamic combat and even then its mostly Weaver specific.


Idea for a future elite: Conjuror: Wields a focus in the main hand, with their weapon skills being fixed like Engi with only five skills per weapon type (#1 Fire, #2 Water, #3 Air, #4 Earth, #5 Arcane), but their F# skills conjure a hovering weapon depending on the desired attunement,, that would follow as a minion attacking kind of like how Balthazar did with his GS, but with all of their skills replacing the Elementalist's utility skills (thus also disabling summoned elementals, for performance purposes),, with really high attunement cooldowns, the opposite of Weaver.

Like a mix between glyphs, existing conjurored weapons, spirit weapons, and Engi and Revenant gameplay. The ability to access all four attunements at once would be traded off by the lack of weapon swapping, unlike Rev.

Just change the toughness bonus to vita, then you get rid of that shit toughness tanking issues in raids.

Also, make the missing core elite skills, and make the existing elite weapon unlocks core, that would open up a lot of stuff while not giving them too much work.

Like the skills that improve Virtues for core Guard, Shatters for Mesmy, etc. I think this can work with respect to the trait line you pick and the trait within it for such improvement, thus a maximum of 3 conjures for Core, but Arcane is a must so... 2 for now. This would still make current weapons useful and would feel nice theoretically.

Core and elite specs can.Tempest would just get a second cast for their overload like usual.Weavers would only get it if both attunements are the same.

I feel like Earth trait line is missing that special umph! to compete with the other trait lines. Adding vitality/stability/or barrier into the line would make sense to the tanky idea of Earth

The thought would be that instead of only being able to get Vitality via gear, you could trade off a damage line, or water for a defense/vitality trait line.

I like your idea of barrier as well. Would give the line some better identity.

Why not an elite spec that instead of giving one new weapon with 20 skills, gives one new weapon with 5 skills and new skills for each old weapon and weapon swap?This way we can get a entire new way to play ele (weapon swap instead of unique skills per attunement), and as the new spec doesnt use old weapon skills, there are no issues of the elite spec ending up in core being nerfed.
