Hunter ?? There is no spec called hunter in the game (not yet maybe a engineer one could be cool with tech-trap etc).

Yeah the ranger is far from a hunter more a beast-master or nature bound guy, he is far better at skirmish in melee than in range !The ranger in GW2 is closer to Aragorn in LOTR than Legolas in fact !

But if you mean ranger there is generally new pet with expansion release maybe there will be some with the LS5.....wait and see !

To add flavor and more veriety to a already flexible class they should make the next ranger espec a petless beast hunter. Be cool in my books

Can't do that because:

  • lot of traits are there for the pet
  • some weapon skills are add effects to the pet
  • some utility skills have effect dependant on the pet
  • ranger's down state need the pet
  • ... etc.

And Soul beast clearly show how much of a mess it is when you remove the ranger's pet.

On topic, Before having new pets I'd be delighted to see the core pet skills updated to a state where they aren't worthless. There is huge potential in those skills but it's almost impossible to unearth it due to the impossibly long cast time and clumsy associated animations. In essence, the pet AI is thirsting for QoL to be given to the pets skills.
