Price to change servers

Why does it cost 1800 gems to switch server. Seems a little high. At the price it would be cheaper to buy a new account. Is that the idea?

You could always delete all characters sand move for free.EditOr wait for alliances to get into the game and make servers useless for wvwvw aswell.

The price is designed to (theoretically) discourage people from swapping servers often.

And FYI the cost is only 1800 to move to a world that ANet considers "high enough" population already. If you are willing to move to a "linked" world, it's 500 gems.

PS the terminology is outdated; these days, "full" means "closed" and "very high" means "close to being closed" and so on -- the choices are made to enable more options for linking every two months.

Ask yourself why you would want to change server and then ask yourself if that is a good reason for the competition.As you know I'm sure, server choice only matter for WvW. The most common reason to switch is cause you want to move to a world that is better/more effective. But with this, the server you are going to will be even better and more effective cause you joined there, while the server you left will be less effective and succesfull. To counter this, the price to switch is relative high, specially for the high tier servers
