  1. Did you speak with Dugan before you tried to get the credit? You have to speak to him and go through all his dialogue before the achievement "unlocks". Since you said others got it at the same time, I assume you know that it's the commune skill point and not the combat one and were at the right one.
  2. I used 78 tomes last night to level an alt and I had no problems with them. Not saying you didn't have issues with their use but it seemed to work fine for me last night in case Anet investigates (was between 1700 and 1900 CST last night).
  3. For the OP. As others have stated there are many reasons why higher level characters are in the low level zones. Here are a few things to help you get credit for mobs/events: 1) Know your weapons - AoE weapons are important when you are going to events. When I leveled my first thief at game launch i made sure to use short bow. Why? Well it had the best AoE for a thief at the time. I had ranged options with pistol or even sword allowed me to bridge gaps quickly but short bow allowed me to tag the most mobs so I made sure I always had that equipped. Make sure you do the same with your character Always have at least one AoE weapon equipped. 2) Learn your events: When you take part in an event that has waves of mobs attacking most events (that's most, not all) have an invulnerability aspect where the mobs are invulnerable until they reach a certain point. Use your AoE skills at that point. This is especially useful for DoT skills such as necro wells, some ele skills, etc. Some of those same events have waves come from more than one point, don't try to run between the different points, Higher level characters will usually beat you to the next spot. So stay at one spot and be at the invulnerability spot or spawn point and use your AoE. Learning the way the events work will really help the frustation you experience. 3) Know your Mob: When you are in a starter zone are you doing hearts or just trying to level? Yes hearts can give you exp but you'll actually get more experience by killing the yellow mobs. All mobs gain exp the longer they've existed on the map. If you are trying to kill mobs for a heart and have a higher level character causing problems, just go off and kill the yellow mobs for a little bit and you'll find you'll make more exp than you would by completing the heart. It's not perfect but at least you'll avoid the frustration you've been experiencing. Remember core map hearts save your progress so you can kill one mob a week ago and it will still count for completion when you go back. When you've killed enough of those yellow mobs, you'll be high level and can complete the hearts that much faster. 4) Know the dailies: When deciding on which map to work on, look at the dailies, if it's (for example) Daily Queensdale event completer either be prepared to be frustrated as some people are trying to get their dailies done as fast as possible so they can go onto other activities such as Fractals, WvW, etc. 2 gold is 2 gold and people want to get the dailies done using the 3 choices they can do the fastest. If you're not doing dailies, or have completed the daily for a zone, move to another zone. With daily gatherers you'll usually not have as many higher level characters but you will have some. 5) Know your hearts: Some hearts have aspects where you need to interact with an object and then a mob may spawn. Those are usually character specific if you are in the area though it may count you in as well. Keep your distance in such cases. After the other person has killed the mob, you'll be able to go in an activate it again. (Note: This is not true for all hearts). Now if you see a higher level character waiting on you be aware. Are they waiting until you spawn it and then just killing it or are they holding back? I do this all the time when I'm in lower level zones. I let the low level spawn the mob, get a hit in and then I one shot them. We both get credit this way. This is really easy to do with ranged weapons. If (I know it's an if) you see someone doing this, don't run to the next interact object, wait for the high level to come up and interact and then you are right there to get a hit in. If I'm trying to be nice like that and a low level moves off to the next interact or doesn't respond to my queries of "map completion?" or "leveling?" I'll just go through as fast as possible as my time is just as important as yours. I'll kill the mobs faster and then it can really slow your completion. I hope these things help you. These are not "rules" but just things that I do when I'm either a leveling an alt or doing stuff with a higher level in a zone.
  4. I am positing with a saddened heart the terrible news that our friend and guild member, Baron Mung, has passed away. He passed away in his sleep a few weeks ago according to a Servants of Fortuna guild member who got a message from his wife. His wife answered one of the many pm's concerned guildmembers had sent him with: "Hi it's Mung's wife. Sorry to take so long to learn to get through to you. Unfortunately, I don't have good news. Mung passed away peacefully in his sleep a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to all of you for sharing so many happy hours with Mung on-line. He really enjoyed it." Baron Mung or Mung as he was known by all of us was the guild member who was there when you needed him. Need an extra member for a guild mission? Mung was there. Need help getting a quest done, Mung was there. Need a few materials for a crafting item, Mung gave you those items. The only problem anyone had with Mung was trying to help him as he always put off his own needs to make sure you got your stuff done first. He just liked playing the game with people. He was an example of kindness, generosity and friendship. Mung and I spent many hours chatting about various aspects of our lives. We were both older gamers and we both had similar experiences as we started gaming. Both of us logged in every day. Some days we couldn't play for very long, but we made sure to log in every day. If we both happened to log in at the same time, we would both share our home instances between the two of us and any other guild members that were online along with asking if anyone needed help with anything. When I was taking care of my wife during her long battle with kitten, every time he saw me online, he would inquire about her health and how not only she but how I was doing. Even after she passed last year, he kept making sure I was doing ok during this long period of adjustment. Mung was always a member of the Yak's Bend server. While his PvE and main guild was Servants of Fortuna he spent a good deal of time in WvW as a member of a number of WvW guilds including BANE and EYE. I and all the member of Servants of Fortuna will greatly miss our friend Mung. On behalf of Servants of Fortuna, Bunter.
  5. I have the same issue. Purchased the first piece on my thief. It unlocked all 3 armor weights and did not unlock the next piece. I made sure that after I noticed the problem to use the skin on an armor piece and still no unlock of the next piece. Update: I see that the second piece did unlock. From what I see the first piece (gloves) disappears from the options and unlocks the next tier. It happens so quickly that you don't notice the change and the menu looks the same. I assume this is to keep people from purchasing the same tier again and stopping customer support issues.
  6. I suggested this a long time ago in a thread about guild halls but what I'd like to see is a guild light switch. Settings of: Cycle, Day, Night so the guild leaders could set the light level of a guild hall to what they desired. With all the torch/flame/light decorations the guild halls have access to, they look (imo) so much better when the guild hall is viewed at night. I for one would love to have the ability to set the lighting to night without the daily cycle. Other suggestions: - Having a toggle to have decorations/guild siege processed automatically. I realize that it's a way to control access to them since only those with permissions can process them so until they're processed they can't be used but for those who would like, it would be nice to have a toggle to set it to automatically process anything put in the queue. - Increase storage of guild banquets and any other limited items such as world events. I still have one of these items in my processing queue from early scribe leveling that can't be processed until they're used as it only stores 25. - In house keg brawl pitch. I happen to love the keg brawl activity and would love it if a guild could host they're own keg brawl practices/tournaments, etc. With the activity only available 1 day a week it would be hard to organize such thing in the actual pitch in Hoelbrak/Lion's Arch as you couldn't guarantee teams, etc. Since there are achievements related to this activity you would need to make it so anything done in the guild hall would not be added to the various achievements. Separate scoreboard for the guild to keep track of stats for a season, etc. would be nice but I realize that may be "extra" programming. Having the guild arena be able to be used for this would be nice as all we'd have to do is stretch the arena from a circle into an oval as all the team interfaces are there already and would allow other guild members to watch the match, etc. This could be done for any of the other activities with the same caveat about achievements though the one I would use the most would be keg brawl as it's a "team" sport. - Clean up the various items on the ground that impede movement. There are a number of trees/branches (especially in the Lost Precipice guild hall) that are just sticking out of the floor that impede movement. We've conquered the guild hall but no one can take an axe and cut these things away? Kind of silly. - SAB style guild hall. We have the decorations that can be crafted but they look out of place in our current guild halls. For those that love SAB it would be nice to have a guild hall themed to the SAB artwork. Sorry if some of these suggestions are part of the list as I only reviewed the initial post and didn't go the external site. As far as the suggestions offered, I really like most of the ideas and wouldn't mind the others. I would especially love the ability to increase my accts guild slots via gold or gems (400 or 600 gems each as a suggestion) (or free) to use up the missing g6-g0.
  7. Compact isn't new, if I remember correctly that option has been in the game since the beginning. Originally it was in the menu right below deposit, but following player feedback (and a streamer effectively demonstrating just how frustrating it can be when you use it by accident when it happened during a steam) Anet added an option to move compact to the bottom of the list so there was almost no chance of hitting it by accident. They made that optional because whilst some people requested a way to separate the two other people said they like them being close together because their inventory sorting process involves using them both one after the other - deposit materials then compact everything else - so it's more convenient to have them next to each other and they didn't want it moved. Making it an option players could switch on and off allowed them to accommodate both groups. I assume whoever made this change is that second type of person - they usually use both deposit and compact and so putting the two buttons side by side is more convenient for them because they can quickly click one then the other. I do remember seeing this suggested by players occasionally, mainly as a way to make it quicker to get to those options. Some have gone further and suggested adding all the inventory options as buttons along the top. But I suspect that @"Gopaka.7839" is right that the main factor was probably new players not knowing the options are there. It's not uncommon for a new players first post in this forum to be complaining about a lack of inventory space and the cost of bigger bags or more bag slots (which is a lot for someone just starting out). The solution always involves making sure they're aware of the deposit button and aren't trying to carry around loads of materials. (And then other things, like making sure they know not to keep event items and to sell junk to merchants.) @Danikat.8537 The button is new. I wasn't referring to the function, I was referring to the button. No matter what you wanted to do, you had to click on the gear in the upper right so that muscle memory is ingrained in most people. Even the people who use the compact button say they salvage, deposit, then compact so my idea wouldn't be a problem for them as the button where they are used to clicking would still be first on their list of the two buttons and those that only deposit wouldn't have to relearn the muscle memory. The three buttons would still be on the top of the inventory with compact on the left, gear in the middle and deposit on the right. The gear separator keeping problematic clicks to a minimum.
  8. Most of us are used to "Deposit All" being in the upper right of the screen. The Compact all button is the new button. An easy way to solve this would be to put the deposit button where the gear is, put the gear in the center and put the new compact button (which everyone has to get used to) on the left where the deposit button is now. It would solve all issues. No one really cares that there is a compact all button (of those that don't use it) but they do care that it is so close to deposit all. This way everyone could be happy, all three buttons would be there, all three could be used and yet the chance of clicking the wrong button greatly diminishes.
  9. So let me get this straight, it's a guild hall decoration so only guild members or their invitees are in the puzzle and yet you don't trust them enough to tell them not to use mounts and they follow it? Seems like you need new guild members rather than a new decoration.
  10. ANET: How can we stop all these "No wvw update? threads" in the easiest way possibleYou have your answer... Change a few numbers and add a link to another number. Done. We can wait another year before the next WvW update now.
  11. A way to implement this would be to make it so the item could be deposited like the materials for the original construction of the guild hall. Give it a separate permissions spot to allow only "some" people to withdraw it. This way some items like banner supplies could be deposited for the scribes to use, etc. Have the items be able to be pulled out by anyone with the requisite permissions or for items, like scribe crafting materials, be able to be used from the guild storage.
  12. It might be the nature of the limited pass. I have the permanent one on multiple accts and it's in a shared slot and I never have to equip it or anything. The limited trial might be the reason you're having problems with getting kicked. I haven't tried to use the permanent one on the few times I die in PvE.
  13. I just logged into my four accounts and did not get an email explaining it on any of them. While I don't care about the "issue of the moment" that Anet likes to foist on us every so often, if they're going to continue to bombard us with them, at least they could explain it to everyone and make sure we all receive the emails.
  14. There’s usually an excess number of mastery points so jumping puzzles can be skipped. In what way is map completion locked behind completing a jumping puzzle or at least in a way that hasn’t been in the game since launch. Grothmar map requires partial completion of the jumping puzzle to get to the vista there. Is one example.
  15. I have no problem putting a skin as a reward in a jumping puzzle. You want the skin, you figure out a way to do the JP. The one thing I dislike is the putting of basic game things behind jumping puzzles, such as mastery points, map completion, etc. Not everyone can do JP's and no one should be forced to not be able to complete a map due to a Poi being in a JP. Achievement points, unique rewards, etc all can be in Jumping puzzles and if I want that reward, I have to do the JP.
  16. I agree. At the very least give us one hairstyle for each piece of headgear. I'd rather have that than the ugly bald effect we have now. So many nice head gear options that I refuse to use due to that bald effect.
  17. I agree with Dawdler, no way. Don't do this. Horrible idea. Just don't.
  18. I agree, while I like having the food in guild storage it would be nice to be able to see the stats before using it.
  19. From what I've read so far the concerns are that scourge can corrupt too many boons which leads to a heavy condition bomb especially in zerg v zerg fights. The proposed change reducing the number of corrupts leaves too many boons in play and may or may not drastically change the meta. Why not make the change so that the number of boons removed is the same but reduce the condition bomb. What I mean is, for example, the skill devouring darkness where it's proposed to reduce the corrupts from 2 to 1. Why not have it still remove 2 boons but only corrupt one of them. The condition bomb will be lessened but the boon spam/removal will stay in the same ratio as it is now. You can test it then to see how things go before completely negating the boon removal allowing the possibility of more boon removal without corrupts. (I'm not sure on the ratios desired for boon application/removal as I normally play a roaming class.) I'm not sure about the programming aspect of this and whether the extra calculation will cause lag or not but it's a suggestion that from what I read it answers both sides of the discussion, lessens the corrupt ability but still removes the boons which is a concern of many people.
  20. As far as local time, many people, myself included, lose track of time as we're playing and having the ability to see it on the screen helps us for whatever time schedules, etc we have such as going to bed, spouse coming home from work, cooking dinner etc. I lose track of time easily as I'm not a person who talks much in game and is rather "doing things' so I lose track of time very easily but I usually use server time as I know the difference, for me at least is 5 hours.. Server time is great for guild schedules, such as guild missions, wvw raid times, etc. If every person sets their in-game clock to server time it's much easier to set a server time meet up/start than it is trying to figure out various time zones when you are not familiar with them. I run guild missions for a world wide guild and it's much easier to set a server time start than trying to remember all the EU timezones as I'm not familiar with them since I'm NA. Also since server time doesn't vary with daylight savings, having a consistent server time start means that you don't have to try and track the various daylight savings changes which can be hard since not all countries use them and even if they do, they don't happen at the same time of year. Much easier to use server time. I've gotten used to server time and my local difference to it so I don't need local time but I would like to know tyria time since a number of achievements are tied to the day/night cycles in game and it's nice to be able to see how long before it will be on the map you are in which is why I'd love to have multiple times available to be shown on the mini map so I could have tyria and server time shown.
  21. I hope you folks realize that dam is a zoological term for the female parent of an animal, especially of domestic animals. Here's the link, it's the 3rd listing for the word https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dam
  22. I don't think build templates will help remove all the usefulness of having multiple characters, even those of the same class. The original Guild Wars 1 templates were only the stats and skills, it didn't swap out gear and I'd be pleasantly surprised if the new templates took gear into effect.
  23. I think what OP is trying to point out is the number of people who jump into threads made by people who are unhappy with the content being released and use lines of the likes of "it's free, what more did you want?" as an answer to their dissatisfaction with the game and/or it's current state. No part of this game is free except for the free core version of the game. Remember anyone posting in this forum has had to purchase some form of the game to post here as free accounts are not given forum posting access. Now I realize you get a lot of content and depending on how much you partake of the various game modes, the cost "per feature" will become smaller and smaller but for the vast majority of people, including everyone who posts here, it will not disappear completely. There is a cost to play the game. Yes, I realize a good number buy the game and/or the expansions and then purchase nothing else but they have still put money towards Arenanet's ability to provide their product to us. Additional updates such as the new LW season while provided at no additional cost if you play it during the time it's active, still have a cost in the form of the purchase of the expansion(s) that allow you to play it so it is not "free". Back to what I started with, I think the OP is just trying to point out that the LW is not "free" and for people to stop using it as a rebuttal to those unhappy with the game's state or content.
  24. Guild Bank depositing was working about 5 hours ago when I swapped accounts.
