  1. @fexxianosch.1087 You may have more luck on the GW2 dev community discord server. I posted a link to your post on the API/Mumble channel there. It's camera distance you are talking about, right? not actual zoom (zoom is fov angle in the identity struct of the mumble link). If you calculate camera distance (3D line) based on camera position and avatar position, can this provide some of the data you need?
  2. I came back to check on the cornerstone of the game. Is this the new five-years-long prove-your-patience thread?
  3. What is your ideal gameplay? Radically changing the build and equipment can make a known profession more interesting, but maybe you have already tried that.
  4. Not quite. On the first espec beta I took my toons to the Mists. I especially tried hard to make Billy the willbender do the martial arts things from the trailer. On the following betas I merely rampaged a bit outside of LA without tweaking the builds for a quick preview. Hence my surprise, as many, that the email trumpeted bladesworn as my big time thing. I did try the flying tortoise, also made it a sinking turtle. It would have been fun to have it in WvW along with oliphants and AT-AT walkers. We might get thermo-jade bombs though, to blast Stonemist Castle and rebuild it from the ground with a new design?
  5. Do you have any addon running that uses the Mumble link (the shared memory block where GW2 writes the positional data), for instance Blish HUD or Taco? In theory, multiple applications can share the memory block but there might be exceptions.
  6. Thank you. Much appreciated. I too got bladesworn in the email. I did goof around a bit with it, but not in WvW, so the theory that only PvE counts in the statistics might be true.
  7. I'm late to this, but there was a thread for reporting team assignment glitches in the WvW > Beta subforum.
  8. Unfortunately, the Department of Gravity and Verticality was reassigned to fixing the Dungeons three years ago. But as soon as they are done, they will take a look at this issue.
  9. I heard that the fourth expansion, The Race to the Moon, will feature lunar dragon eggs...
  10. That's a bit surprising indeed, nothing you said can be considered promoting or giving instructions for a hack or exploit, even less shaming anyone. There have been extensive discussions in the past about flying hackers and the like. I guess the rules have become stricter and I'll shut up too.
  11. Unless the infamous spaghetti code is of galactic proportions, I can't see a way for a hacker to do that. It may have been a mesmer who confused you to pass as a thief and make you press random keys. That's... worrying.
  12. That's the thing. Everything down to the humble dagger is just a channel for magic. If our characters could punch, it would be magical punches for sure. Look, we don't even have a defiance bar and we manage pretty well.
  13. Maybe even longer if GW3 was to lift the franchise to the next level. I hope the joking naivety of that sentence of mine that you quoted was obvious enough.
  14. Hey, wait a bit before releasing GW3, I haven't done all the GW2 maps yet! I'm all for a radical revamp of WvW though, with player-made structures and other strategic elements, if we can afford bigger servers. Evolving AIs can be interesting in some PvE instances but, again, more computation and bigger servers.
  15. @kamikharzeeh.8016 - Thank you for the tips! I started WvW on a dagger/dagger core ele and suffered a bit, then had some fun on a greatsword core ranger in the few cloud fights I was in, but I'm now making a necro and doing an expansion to become a scourge for the holy trinity and try those poker fights. I won't have time to play much during the beta so I'm postponing the noob guild project for the next beta. I need to think it through and enforce voice chat even if nobody leads, want to hear the scouts and have a minimum of coordination so we are a bit more than loot bags for the pros.
  16. Thank you! Not sure if you were replying to the OP or my question. If the latter, thanks! Yes, fully expecting the noob squad to be zerged over 😄 That would be more of a social experiment than actual playing. I do manage a few things with core specs but I stay away from specialized blobs because I don't want to look like a leech. Thank you for your reply! I think they mentioned that in a forum post before the first beta but that's it.
  17. I'm thinking of creating a guild just for this beta and just for the noobs like me who don't have elite specializations yet, or even the warclaw, so we can experiment together instead of wasting time trying to get accepted. Before I go ahead, do you pros consider this a very bad idea?
  18. Don't give ANet ideas and excuses to shut down WvW 😉 But I'm not getting it, if the alternate worlds massacre each other, they weaken each other rather than gathering resources, don't they?
  19. Please don't. I'm still mourning the death of the venerable thread on the premature mastery popup issue, which got merged into the QoL thread, all posts chronologically entangled with the other ones to the point that nothing made sense any more. I don't care much about swimsuits and suits in general, but this thread is one of the funniest in history, I don't want it to be slaughtered.
  20. The blog post about restructuring did mention time zones: "Matchmaking will initially use factors such as WvW participation and playtime to place players, guilds, and alliances on teams, but we’re open to adding additional variables to matchmaking (e.g., time zone) once we’ve ironed out the initial kinks with the system." It is not clear whether this means a better coverage of the 24 hours or more intense peak times. It is also not clear how long it would take for this to be implemented after the restructured system becomes the norm. Lots of questions.
  21. Maybe the poor repair staff that works for free was seeing a legendary piece for the first time and thought "Adventurer, if you can afford that, you can shell out a copper." Does it happen with the older NPCs and dispassionate anvils too?
  22. I had always assumed that the six had some Olympian Mist Twitter for sharing gossip about cosmic events and planetary experiments and could not miss so big a thing unless they went full hermit. Kormir is aware of at least the possibility of it, right?
  23. @NerevarineNinja.1643 - I would ask customer support if there is a way to retain your original US location during the purchase, provided that you use a US bank account. Not sure they can help, the security system kicks in like crazy but it may be worth a try.
  24. ArenaNet, please explain the rationale behind the changes that are listed in the release notes. This will save us some speculation. That said, the apprentice dress is a tad ridiculous - says my wife and I - and not because of the skimpiness.
  25. They went from mercenary to Black Lion traders. Chasing monsters grows old fast.
