  1. I just finished testing (again) each of the Ranger Spider Pets and none of their F2 Abilities work. They will activate and go on cooldown but never provide their intended effect. This has been an issue for a very long time, but with more recent efforts on fixing some longstanding issues I'm hoping this will finally get some attention. The skills in question are: Deadly Venom, Paralyzing Venom, and Weakening Venom Thank you.
  2. I'm not a fan of the amount of gate-locked content here either. In my case it's the weapon unlocks for the expanded proficiencies... Requiring a bit of story progress is fine but demanding 14 episodes is a bit much. If it was possible to skip episodes and just do the two that are actually required then I'd be ok with it... but requiring the entire story up to this point to be completed for a major selling point of the expansion is not enjoyable, nor wise, in my opinion. Again, this wouldn't be such an issue if there were more alternatives to claim the required items than what currently exists in game. Needing 500 Jade Heroics to skip the entire story isn't realistic for a large portion of the player base. We need either another alternative or for the Jade Heroics cost to be lowered. Honestly, I'm actually surprised that someone thought all this gate-locking was a good idea....
  3. I couldn't decide which I wanted more for Necro Swords, "power ranged aoe" or "condi melee". I'm def looking forward to this tho for sure! It seems like I won't have to rely on Axe alone for power ranged now, so I'm happy.
  4. Yeah MF stat changing is what I had to do, but that's got a bit of a price tag to it, and I could only barely afford that, and there may be others who can't quite yet. Still, if the chests have to be Core stats for whatever reason we need to be able to see that prior to purchasing the chests.
  5. I was really looking forward to getting Ascended Armor from the Vault since I don't have many of them. But after I bought 2 of them I found out that (could not preview the options prior to purchase fyi, that's an issue) they only included Core stat options.... I do have all expacs so all those stats are available to me through other means, but these Core stats are largely not very useful (most of them) and are stat options that are very cheaply available in the Trading Post as exotics. I'm really hoping this is just a bug or oversight. I would definitely not have spent the 800 AA on them if I knew their limitations. So, a preview option should really be present prior to purchases; and honestly, the chests are pretty worthless except for a couple of exceptions.
  6. I just uninstalled Guild Wars 2 for the first time in about 5 years. I need to move on because this isn't fun anymore, everything is so spammy and convoluted, not to mention inconsistent. Wish me luck finding something else.
  7. Uhm, what's the sitrep on Chaos Vortex...? The patch notes were contradictory, said no alac then said yes alac...
  8. Without using the specific example the OP gave for the "go wiki it" advice, I will say that I've noticed an increasing trend of impoliteness when it comes to referring people to the wiki, as well as derision for not understanding something in the wiki. I asked a question about the Halloween Clock Tower this last year and even said that the wiki page was confusing to me, so I was looking for clarification on whether the meaning was A or B. The replies I got in map chat were horrendous. Multiple people repeatedly telling me to just check the wiki page, even though I stated I already had and was looking for clarification. Finally, after being repeatedly scolded (literally and repeatedly insulted as well) for asking my question in chat instead of only relying on the wiki page, I managed to squeeze an answer out of someone who was the most insulting about the situation. Turned out they didn't understand the wiki page either because the information they yelled at me with and continually called me stupid etc. over, was flat out wrong. Turns out that the wiki didn't have the specific answer to my question, and they were using a different part of the wiki to give me an incorrect answer, all while chewing me out for being confused. This has not been an isolated experience either. I've stopped asking questions in chat almost entirely because it's just exhausting to constantly be scolded in one way or another for having the audacity to be confused by something in the wiki or not know where in the wiki something was. So, regardless of the OP's exact example provided, I will agree that there is a problem in the community regarding helping players with questions in chat. Of course, not everyone experiences this problem or is a part of the problem itself, but it does happen enough to be an issue worth being conscious of and repairing. The wiki is a fantastic resource, and I do recommend it often to players. But the manner in which we suggest it makes a difference. Too often the only response is just "Wiki it", instead of something more helpful like saying "Idk but Wiki might" or offering specific search terms as it can be complicated to know what to type into the wiki command to initiate your search. It's not a bad thing to recommend players to the wiki for the information they need, but the way we do it can be quite rude or less helpful.
  9. I'm just here to say that the Ele Scepter changes are wonderful! It's been my favorite Ele weapon for a long time but mostly because it was ranged and not Staff. The Fire 2 was always a major nuisance, targets would almost always just walk out of the thing which made the skill completely useless. Changing it to follow the target is great imo, as long as players can still dodge the actual drop of the tooth. Air 2 and 3 being single target always made me feel weak and vulnerable when in that attunement, and they felt very unimpactful. 3 targets is such a major improvement! Water 2 change is perfect, no further comment. Water 3, I think it should still heal allies on strike but I'm glad it's not ground targeted. It was always a pain to aim that properly unless melee was stacked on a target. I think it would be better if Water 3 splashed a heal either at the target struck or at the caster's location. Either would be acceptable to me. Earth 2 should feel much smoother to actually use with this update. The speed increase alone would have made a difference but I'm happy to see some barrier and resistance as well, unlooked for but quite welcome. Earth 3 being made to multitarget is great and I'm glad the blind is only on the first pulse. I wouldn't mind seeing an option to make blinds do bleeding or something to properly allow for more Condi options. Right now, with these changes it's looking like Scepter is mostly a power weapon with some condi added in. I'd much rather see an option to switch between power and condi depending on the build. Also, thank you for removing that annoying Catalyst 10% damage nerf on Air.
  10. YES! This please! I would love to see Scepter be focused into an all Condi weapon, with condi's on each attunement. I'm not really a fan of having to go Celestial just so I don't lose almost all value out of Water and Air in a Condi set up. I also agree that Ice Bleeds makes perfect sense and would like to see this on Scepter. Air I think should have a condi too, but I'm not sure which one would work thematically besides Vuln. Thanks for putting this out there!
  11. Unless I'm quite mistaken, there's a difference between Power Coefficients and Damage Multiplier modifications. If I'm understanding things right, Necro Staff is having both is power and its condi damage boosted by these changes.
  12. My feedback: Elementalist: Just, thank you; especially for Staff changes. One of the biggest archetypes in fantasy is a Staff wielding Mage, but in Guild Wars 2 this fantasy has been sorely lacking due to most magic staffs being very weak. Thank you very much for finally working to fix this! I'm very interested in the other changes as well but will have to see how they play out. Tempest Shouts and Phoenix changes may actually be enough to make go back to that class for the first time in years. Engineer: OMG Harpoon Gun! That is a change I am very happy with. I am however concerned about the trait Big Boomer getting buffed as that will cascade over to Mechanist, which does not need the boost even though Scrapper and Holosmith do. I think it would be more prudent to remove this change to Big Boomer and instead apply more damage through those specific Elite specs instead. Guardian: I am glad to see Firebrand taken down a little. The ammunition reduction and cooldown increase on Mantra of Liberation is definitely going to be beneficial to other builds. However, I do still believe that Guardian still has too much access to Stability via a Shout, a Consecration, and a Signet (and Tome for Firebrand). Perhaps remove the Stability from the Signet Elite skill and replace it with another boon. The changes to Hammer look good, I just hope the animation lock reduction on the Symbol of Protection is enough. I think there is a possibility the attack speed may need to be increased as well but we'll have to see how this change on the 23rd works out first. I am also very interested in the potential future change to Dragonhunter Longbow's True Shot as being locked in place for an extended duration is not comfortable at all in PvE, especially on a ranged weapon that begs you to stay at range while NPC's are attempting to close the distance gap at all times. I understand the difficulty regarding WvW and PvP telegraphing and look forward to a future discussion regarding this skill. Necromancer: OMG I'm actually really, really, excited for Staff and Dagger changes! See Elementalist comments regarding Staff fantasy for my thoughts here as well. Thank you! I'm also eager to try the updated Shouts in Reaper! Ranger: I have a few thoughts here. First, thank you for fixing the EoD pet bugs. That was a very annoying and irritating difficulty and I'm very happy to see it fixed. Second, flat crit chance across the board for Ranger Pets is a good start to making Pet diversity an actual thing, but this definitely will need to go farther to actually work out well. My primary comment is regarding Druid Stability. I do believe this is the wrong choice in how to provide this boon to Ranger. Requiring Astral Form is very limiting to the build which already can't really take the Glyph anyways because of how the Alacrity is provided. There simply is no space for this Glyph without costing too much Alacrity uptime. Having the boon tied to Astral Form is not a good idea because you need Astral Force at full strength to even activate the form in the first place, this dramatically limits the availability of the boon's access. Not only is it locked behind a charge up mechanic, but it's also locked behind multiple key hits (activate Astral Form, then activate glyph) which requires a great deal of foresight and preparation to be successful. It cannot be used on demand or as needed; it can only be used if you prepare a great deal of time in advance. I would personally much rather see Stability offered to the whole of the Ranger class as that would allow more build diversity within the Specs. For options, I could see returning Stability to the Elite Ranger Spirit's activatable, but with a much more usable design. Apply the Stability first, then heal (for example). I think this would pair well with the already existing Alacrity application design without forcing a player to use a charge up mana pool. I could also see applying Stability to a Pet activatable skill, the same way Aegis is applied to the White Tiger. However, that would force the Ranger to choose between Aegis and Stability, which is a choice Guardians do not have to make and would not be ideal. If a Pet is chosen to carry Stability I would ask that it be the Jaguar pet as its Stealth skill is completely useless and counterproductive to the very existence of a pet (tank for you). Revenant: I think these changes look good so far, though I do see what to my mind is a major oversight regarding the Rev's Hammer. The Hammer 2 skill, Coalescence of Ruin, is a very awkward skill that I believe needs to be looked at sooner rather than later. The skill CANNOT hit a target in melee range as the skill doesn't activate at your location but at some distance away. This is very much a problem since NPC's almost always try to close the gap and come into melee range. Additionally, even if you line up the shot correctly you have a nearly 50/50 chance of missing the target because of how the bursts work along the line of the skill. There are gaps in between pulses where no damage can be dealt. I applaud taking a look at Hammer and would ask that modifying/fixing Coalescence of Ruin be made a priority if you want the weapon to see more use. Thief: I do not play Thief except on a rare occasion. I hope the changes you've described will be helpful, but I wouldn't know for sure. One of the reasons I do not play Thief is because of what seems to me like a build and identity conflict with Main Hand Dagger. The weapon seems like it's supposed to be a Condi weapon, but its Stealth Attack is fully power, and its skill 2 is also fully power (as is part of the auto chain). If want to survive melee range on a Thief I would typically be building for full Condi damage to allow for more vitality and toughness and thus would not be building Power into the build. This very much seems to waste the potential of the skills I've described, greatly weakening them. I would prefer to see a more consistent identity for Main Hand Dagger as either being power or condi, and less of a hybrid weapon. Seeing this sort of change might persuade me to put more effort into Thief play. On a separate note, I would also like to see some improvements to Thief Short Bow though I am unsure what to offer in terms of suggestions here, it's just that the weapon feels very weak to me and very difficult to use and get used to. Warrior: I am very happy to see Longbow and Swords finally see some love, and Spellbreaker Daggers too! Thank you! I definitely appreciate the consistency update to Longbow being fully a Condi weapon (skill 3 applying burning). The CC on Longbow 4 should also feel much more comfortable to use as well! I do very much hope though that you are willing to take a look at Spellbreaker utility skills as well soon as those are near useless in most situations. That said, I am very much looking forward to giving my Condi Warrior another shot! Conclusion: Thank you for all that you're doing lately. Regardless of what some other players might think, you don't have to be perfect to be good, and you certainly don't need to be perfect or fully good right away. I know things take time to design and implement and that you will miss the mark from time to time. What matters to me is that you (ANet) are actually making progress and trying to make this game better. It's more than what we've seen from the company in a long time, and I greatly appreciate the effort you all are putting into this now. I look forward to seeing more such effort and love put into Guild Wars 2!
  13. Necromancer Staff usable????????? THANK YOU!
  14. As the title says I would really, really, ask ANet to put at least SOME damage on the Herald's Shield 4 skill. Right now, the Shield ONLY does Healing (ok a little Protection and a little condi cleanse too) which makes the weapon only viable in one type of situation. Adding a bit of damage to the 4 skill would make the weapon more versatile and I'd assume more appealing as an option in more game modes and situations. Obviously, it shouldn't be massive damage since it is a Shield and designed to be more of a support weapon anyways but doing ZERO damage just feels bad to me.
  15. Honestly, I think people are expecting too much too quickly. We've had a big change in leadership within what the last year and a half and that's when things started to change albeit slowly. People keep pointing to the Cata nerfs and precision on Arms (a trait line that is already more than 50% about crit chance) as the direction of the game without even acknowledging the rework to Engi Rifle which was an abysmal weapon that didn't work with half the traits it needed to work with, or the Bladesworn utility changes. My point is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but the player base is unwilling to see it because they see the company name and think everything is the same as it was before. We also do have to account for income and pay for hours worked being a limiting factor in the speed of the patch notes we want. Engi Rifle is a sign that they are willing to work on old unplayed content, but they have to brainstorm what changes MIGHT work and do the development for those changes. It takes time and we can't expect it to all be done at once. I refuse to read the leaks, so I won't speak to any perception of arrogance beyond this: the player base has thrown tantrums over every expansion and major change and demanded something opposite of what was done every time. HoT saw complaints that it was too hard and too Meta event focused, so they took out Metas in PoF which then saw almost no replay because the community complained that there were no repeatedly major events to do (aka Meta events). EoD tried to compensate for that complaint by reinstating a Meta event focus and difficulty which has been met with more derision. Everytime the community makes demands and get what they want it ends up shooting ANet in the foot. So, they have to be careful to not give in to these tantrums all the time because the community doesn't actually know as much about what they want as they think they do. And the fact that people are complaining about Arms getting a little extra crit chance to what it ALREADY HAD (not to mention the complaints that Ele Air is the only place Ele gets more crit chance when power Ele builds were already almost guaranteed to take Air for its precision and ferocity) are signs that the players don't know half as much about what they're talking about as they think they do. ANet has to be careful giving in to conditions like that because it will always work out poorly in the long run. It's very easy to get frustrated with a player base that is always complaining, whether they understand the details or not. As for the Builds A, B, and C remarks, I do agree that Builds C need to be addressed more. I just see Engi Rifle as a pointer in that direction. Fixing some of Bladesworns' utility skills and Thiefs' Shadow Arts are steps in that right direction as well. As for the 300s traits, yes those need to be brought down to something more useful, but if they do that, they know the community will throw a tantrum about it being too much, no matter what number they actually pick. So, I'm guessing that they're wary of doing so, and understandably so. Ok I'll stop talking here and will not likely be responding to any quotes since I'm expecting to get insulted again for not being on the constant hate train. Are there mistakes in the patch? Probably yes. But I argue that things are not NEARLY as bad as people are making it out to be. There are a lot of unanswered questions about many details of how the patch will work and many are jumping to many assumptions without actually knowing those answers.
  16. We still do not know everything about what is going on with these changes that they have described. There are A LOT of unanswered questions and too many assumptions.
  17. These are not the full patch notes - they're just a preview of some of it. A lot of people are making a lot of assumptions about Warrior based on incomplete data. The bottom line is there is a lot we don't know about how this entire patch will work and players need to chill out.
  18. Honestly, I'm bothered by all the people complaining about Crit Chance in Arms for Warrior... do they not know that Arms has always been the Warriors Crit Trait Line? Multiple traits in that line relate to Fury, give Fury, or give guaranteed Crits. It isn't ONLY a Condi spec line.
  19. Honestly, as a player I don't care if players like or dislike the patch notes. Players have proven that even if the patch notes are great (not saying these are, there's not enough info to accurately make assumptions on most of it) the player base would still pick a fit and whine up a massive storm. Seriously GW2 has the whiniest player base I've ever seen.
  20. It's called a narrowed down topic. I only wanted to focus on one concern and that concern was story continuity. All the rest can be figured out later but if a race muddles the story it needs to be thrown out or reimagined. It's sad that no one can actually talk about a presented topic and stay focused on that topic. I'm not saying there aren't other issues, I'm saying those associated questions are for a different discussion. But of course everyone else has to be rude and tell me off like I'm some kind of idiot when they simply are refusing to have a polite discussion on the question asked.
