  1. (PvP only) 😞 Will we ever get a WvW patch? I mean we needed how many years to even go into a beta for Alliances? 5 or 6?
  2. It's a warrior. I had a lot of fun playing with this class. The sustain is good, the skills are fun, it has lots of movement. It felt like a warrior, not too different from the norm but with some nice gimmicks. Is it worth picking up for more than casual gameplay? Can't say, honestly, not a big warrior player myself. The damage felt a bit lackluster, but didn't affect the fun that much as I didn't die either. Could feel exhausting if I was playing it for longer. Icons: as with the rev (and the necro) the icons of the weapon skills, utilities, and trade lines appear unfinished. I assume they are, going by how detailed the ones of the ele are.
  3. I only play rev in WvW. Did Raids and PvP with it a few years ago, but never played PvE. The Greatsword skills of the Vindicator are fun. It's a nice spread of damage and utility, range and movement. Personally, I had fun playing around with the dodge, can see that being used in fractals/raids for a kind of perma evade/damage class. The traits seem very much focused on the dodge as well, a little too much,. actually. I would have liked some more variety there. The damage is... lackluster. I mean I don't die (Ele, say hi) but I also don't hit hard. It feels like you will die eventually, simply because your sustain is average and you take ages to take anything down. The dodge is fun, though doesn't hit super hard either. For the icons: contrary to the Ele, both the Rev and the War, like the Necro, have obviously unfinished graphics. The weapon skills utilities and trait lines are bare-bone and in need of work. I assume these are placeholders, but pointing it out on the off chance I'm wrong.
  4. Ele main here. The Catalyst feels... worse. A worse tempest. A worse revenant. Aura's are tempest's things. Why do we need another aura based ele? Why do we need another melee-based Ele? We have 1 long-range weapon an it's slow as kitten. When I heard that we'll get a hammer, I expected a Rev-like playstyle. 1200 range, some slow, hard-hitting attacks but also some good pace, variable utilities. The augments feel negligible. The investment and the gain doesn't match. It's slow and boring and gives you even more chances to use mistform... The only place I see this class being useful is in raids, which is single-digit percentage of the playerbase. Positive: the icons look polished, both the skills and the trait line. It looks almost a lot more finished than the Rev and the Warrior going by appearance alone. The animations are fine, too. Flashy, even though I don't feel the skills. Best thing I can say about this class, sadly. This is a missed opportunity to give us more variety at playstyle. Instead it's same old again :(
  5. Played in PvE I had fun with this for a few hours yesterday. Lots of fun, actually. It doesn't play like a guardian, which is on one side weird and on the other good, because specializations are supposed to something that's different core mechanic of a class. It's got the movement of a thief, hopping from one mob to the next is funny, but... gw2 in general doesn't reward movement. It's nice for a bit of mindless PvE, but then it's not like general PvE can't be done with any spec. For WvW? Single target damage and movement is useless in a zerg fight. You might be able to roam with the class, not sure how it will actually hold up in any kind of PvP setting, tho. For end content, fractals, raids... not don't know if there's a place for it at all. The mechanics are clunky if you actually have rely on them. Fighting without targetting is somewhere between annoying and hopeless. The elite is. underwhelming. This ultimately is a "Have fun with for a bit, then put it in a box and never look at it again because other classes do it better" spec, which is sad.
  6. Played in PvE Mesmer is my second to least played class of all of them. I can play a decent PvE mesmer, have fun with it in WvW when I actually play it, and in raids I scream and die. So lower level of expertise here. That said, this spec is beautiful. From all 3 of them, it looked the most completed, and it was obvious that time and effort went into it. The visuals are great, both in the weapon animations, the F-skills and the utilities. Perhaps a tad too shiny even. It's squishy. You're a low HP class with light armor, it's not unexpected, but especially in the HoT maps with the knockdown festival events it was a bit annoying. Would it have been better if I was more skilled? Likely. Still, some of the utilities felt very similar to each other. For the F-skills as a non-main Mesmer, the cast time didn't throw me off. What did confuse me was that the blades staid with me when out of combat. At first I thought it was a bug, not gonna lie, so it means contrary to the general mesmer playstyle. Going by what other people have said, removing the cast time and having the blades vanish once OOC might work better for this class.
  7. Played in PvE The damage was good, but damage is never bad on a necro. I expected more of a support build, going by the resemblance to the engi. The pistols skills aren't bad, mechanically I couldn't find anything wrong with them... but they felt bland. Pewpew auto, pewpew damage, pewpew stun, it felt a lot like core engi did in the beginning - and I deleted 3 level 30ish engis before finally sticking with one in 2015. The exilirs, admittedly, make it worse. They feel completely bland. The whole utility bar looks uniform, the symbols are almost identical. Their effects have no particular special feature that makes them stand out. Boons, boons, more boons. It was boring as hell to play. The shroud was fun. It felt fast-paced, something you could hop in and out of to gain some mobility, more damage or survival. It filled up naturaly too, no exessive spamming skills needed to get it back up. Reminded me a bit of playing reaper in the HoT beta. Reaper was more fun, but it had some of those "Ok, this is nice!" moments that I remember fondly. From the 3 classes we could test this was by far the most disappointing for me. I'd take a Reaper or Scourge over this any day.
  8. Thank you for this. I'd love to see tengu becoming a thing. I'd love to see Steve become a thing. I'd love to explore Cantha. This is the most excited about GW2 I have been in a few years.
  9. I stopped investing money into GW2 after the mount skin loot box drama. I love gw2. I've played thousands of hours of this game, but this wasn't something I could stand for morally. When I understood how the build/gear templates work I was glad I didn't go back on that stance. This is a downgrade. With your "free" 3 build templates I now have 6 available – which still isn't even enough to have WvW builds for all my characters anymore. Not only did I lose my existing WvW builds, but now I have no choose which of my characters is worth a WvW build. Build templates are a standard MMO feature. A base feature should never be sold for money. The sad thing is that I'm not even mad anymore, just sad. My favorite game is being run into the ground, it hurts to watch.
  10. For me the story was... anticlimatic. After all the hype on twitter and from people who played it, I expected more. The graphics were breathtaking, both in the map in the in the actual story. Kralkatorik looked amazing, even if it resembled a kaiju a bit too closely for my taste. Otherwise... it wasn't surprising. Honestly, for me this was one of the story parts that engaged me the least from Season 5. The training with Aurene was lackluster and confusing if anything.
  11. Easy. I gave them money to (finally) be able to play a sword on my ele, I'll give them money if they (finally) let me play a Tengu. EDIT: I don't care for housing. If I wanna go all "interior designer" I'll play Sims.
  12. The English support on GW2 was always fast, friendly, and helpful. Zero complaints. My interaction with the German language support though ... personally, I think it's better to have no German language support than get a Google translated answer that makes absolutely no sense to a native speaker.(I'd post a screenshot, but I don't know if that's even allowed.)
  13. I won't say that I'm sold on this new system, or that I like it even ... but I can admit that this is what needs to be done. It needed to be done years ago.
  14. Flying underneath Lake Doric. My most beautiful map break.
  15. The WvW dev team.To this day I'm not sure if they actually exist, which is a sad thing.
  16. The map is pretty as always, but at this point I have come to expect pretty from Guild Wars 2 maps. I'm spoiled and I know it. As mentioned before the end fight was... strange. I didn't mind the mechanics or the length, just the final part that made absolutely no sense to both me and the friend I was playing with. We were just running around like chickens. Very strange experience, and not one I'd like to repeat. Have to say though, that he armadas of mobs in the last part gave it a really good, epic feel to it. The encounter with Amala was fun as well, especially since when we arrived at the starting point of the story part the meta was going and so we fought her two times in a row. Also, the way we broke out of the cage was clever. I was honestly surprised about that, well done. I put my feedback for the characters in spoiler tags. Yes, it's long.
  17. I'm a student. I'm poor. Still, Christmas is coming around. For 25€ I could get 2000 gems. Or I could buy 2-3 books. I will pay to get something I want. I'd buy a mount skin for 700-800 gems even. I will however not pay for the chance of getting a mount skin. I don't gamble. So if the choice is between investing into rng or buying books, I'm gonna go to Amazon or my local bookstore and have fun there. To be clear: I'd pay more than 400 gems for what I want. I'll pay 0 gems for rng.
  18. It doesn't matter if I got 1 random new skin of the 30 when there is only 1 there I really want. There is a big fruit basket sold at the supermarket. It is even on sale.It has grapes, oranges, bananas, strawberriers, cherries, grapefruits, apples and peaches. They don't sell any single fruits. Will I buy the fruit bakest when I only eat strawberries? Hell no.I'll go and find another supermarket that sells strawberries – or in this case: I don't buy anything since I have no other option. "But you get something?!" Yes, I get something I don't want, which makes it worthless to me. That's not an argument.
  19. I'm not gambling on the 2 griffin and 1 raptor skin I think look good. Would have bought them outright, but never as a pure rng.
