  1. Now this is puzzling: I have access to several accounts, all purchased (no F2P acc) and with various expansions. The only account with this issue is my own, all the other accounts run just fine the way they do for years. I use the same GPU options for all of them, no add-ons. I retract my suggestion from yesterday concerning the map 'Draconis Mons'. Just a few minutes ago the black loading screen of infinity happened with a character on a PoF map.
  2. Have this issue for a number of days now, but it seems to trigger [exclusively?] only when I try to access a character on the map 'Draconis Mons' - characters on other maps seem [mostly?] unaffected. Did anyone notice something like that on their account?
  3. Had this issue already yesterday - but only for a few characters. Today, after downloading the latest build, the character select screen is black except for their names. Clicking on them doesn't do anything visible, the loading screen remains black for ages and it applies to all characters as far as I tried.
  4. The 'small time window' is actually several days long. Players transfer shortly before a new server pairing takes place based on the impressions they got from the previous 2 months or based on what they expect it to be the future? Surely they cannot reasonably predict which servers Glicko/ANet is going to pair up next. So the day after the transfer they find themselves in a new pairing environment which may be totally different from what they anticipated and start to save up for the next transfer? By transferring they outmanoeuvred both the new Glicko scheme and their own transfer decision. Nice work. The link doesn't work. 'page not found'. Your claim what constitutes a 'full server' and thus enables or prevents a transfer needs a bit more explanation. When a player wants to transfer from server A to B 'hours spend in WvW' is a criteria? Would that mean a player who never enters WvW can transfer to server B while another who relishes in WvW cannot because server B's WvW population is strong and very active? That sounds too far fetched and doesn't square with what we have seen over the last 7 years. When a server is marked 'full' it is full for everyone regardless where you spend your time in GW2. On the other hand it means if a server is not full, a few dozen dedicated WvW players migrating can swing the whole picture around even if the total server population just increased by 1-5% or so. I rest my case. Dry their pockets and the whole problem is gone.^^
  5. If players really coordinate themselves for transfer in a small time window it is difficult to imagine this is a widespread practice and concerns more than a few dozen players per server. Do we have any knowledge about actual numbers? Any statistics? How much transfer-players are we talking about? What is the current upper limit for a server population? Is it 10.000 players per server or more or maybe even less? Does the system count players who haven't logged in for months or even years? What is the average percentage of server populations active in WvW for more than just the dailies? Questions over questions, do we have any answers? We know the system is build from another angle than WvW. We know ANet is working on a great 'restructuring'. Asking to fix this issue now after 7 years while they are working on a whole new approach and have to stomach the loss of 100 colleagues may be a bit too much. Besides, the gems needed for all those transfers help to pay the bills for ANet. If we are talking about just a few hundred transfers every 2months in a system of tens of thousands of players a possible fix worthy to be considered doable should be very easy to implement for ANet. Maybe the current Glicko system can make the new server pairing in a much shorter time span than 2months. If server pairing happens every 2 weeks than maybe players will get tired of server hopping very soon.
  6. The most recent server relinks were a success from my point of view. Thanks ANet!The amount of whining in this thread is remarkable, especially from players on Piken Sq or from servers who used to be linked to Piken Sq for quite a long time. Do players need a reminder there is no guarantee to stay linked forever or that your server is linked to another at all? Other servers learned that lesson long ago. My server was fending for itself alone in WvW all those years except for three short linkings à 2 months. Welcome to the club.^^Furthermore, players who think the grass is always greener on the other side just prove they haven't grown up yet. Since early access start almost 7yrs ago, I stayed on the server chosen in 2012 regardless of the tidal changes in WvW. Bandwagoning is a thing for weak minds and server hopping certainly doesn't generate any sympathy for the gems spent. If you can't stand being on the potentially weaker side don't play open PvP (WvW). The devs cannot guarantee it to be fair at all times. They do their best to even the odds but that's about it. You could learn to enjoy the perks of being outnumbered. I have grown used to it and if the new system of server links regardless of language restrictions will make that a thing of the past, I will adapt to it too. Sharing the same side with players who speak French was already refreshing and fun. It's a game - make the best of it and enjoy yourself.
