  1. Most elves are high; it's that stuff they're always smoking in their pipes... Sylvari, however, can't be high elves because they're vegetable matter; it they smoked the same stuff, they'd burn up.
  2. I want the s-p-e-r-m whale!! I want the s-p-e-r-m whale!! [had to hyphenate that since ANet changed it to "kitten whale".]Seriously, to make underwater combat work [better than it does], ANet would need to do something with their stupid camera. The FOV, especially the way it arbitrarily decides to jump around, is too small -- even when zoomed all the way out -- for effective combat underwater. Even in PvE right now, it is common to not have a clue from which direction you are being engaged -- left, right, front, back, above, below -- and the time it takes to determine where an opponent is can be fatal since death comes so quickly in this game. The camera [almost] works alright in ground combat since there is rarely any vertical component to a fight, but in the water it can be atrocious.Of course, it'd help if ANet didn't consistently spawn mobs immediately behind players and behind the apex of the FOV...
  3. He visits the stations in the same order. If you have an ingredient and he's already at one then get in position to throw it to him at the next stop.It took me multiple tries -- at least twenty -- and NEVER ONCE did the chef proceed in the same order. He doesn't ask for the ingredients in the same order. He only moves from station to station in the same order. They may have altered it since I posted that a few months ago.Nope, didn't even do that... not the same ingredients and not the same stations. Random each time... and sometimes the same ingredients multiple times in a row with the chef at different stations (which confirms the random nature).

  5. No more DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS-DPS classes; nine is enough. No more "armor class doesn't matter" classes. No more jumping puzzles; this isn't Mario Brothers. No more vertical mazes like Dry Top, Silverwastes, and HoT.No more aggro-every-square inch like PoF (ANet needs to figure out what "challenge" means; that's not it).No more story mode with horrible idle animations and female characters with breasts so large they should fall over.No more spawning mobs on top of players or immediately behind the focal point of the camera (ANet needs to figure out what "challenge" means; that's not it).No more instantly respawning mobs players have just killed (ANet needs to figure out what "challenge" means; that's not it).No more in-game store where you MUST buy perks and gear or you will very definitely be a second rate player.Lots of "no more's"...Then, maybe -- just maybe -- a GW3.
  6. Most likely what you are seeing is an alt char logging in harvesting the node then logging out. Not even close... that takes time. It's the same characters all the time; they pop in, then pop out after harvesting the node. If you want to pretend that's just coincidence, then I have to suggest you're part of that group because NOBODY would believe it "just happens".
  7. It's not just AFK farming that is a problem.I am ALWAYS seeing players teleport in to the vicinity of crafting resources (especially rich mineral nodes) to collect the resource and then instantly disappear. That problem has been around for a long time; has been reported many, many times; the offenders have been reported many, many times; and nothing gets done about it.Because it's a waste of time to report it, I don't bother anymore.
  8. The game was designed from the beginning for solo play; in general. you can "group by association"... that is, be in the same general location as everyone else doing an event of whatever type. Heart quests in the main game are all solo-able; in many cases you'll complete them without even knowing you're doing them because the game has been so horribly dumbed down and simplified since release.I have nine characters, one of each class, and five are level 80. I've yet to group in-game; but I always help others when they are in need and always join in on local events. I don't go out trying to take out champions on my own (although I came close once), but if I see others taking on a champion I join in. You don't have to formally group to cooperate. In any case, most of the rewards for quests and even killing bosses are crap, so you're not missing anything if you don't.
  9. I would reply with some ‘edgy teenager’ picture but I’ll leave that aside. If you dont like the way GW2 is goin, you dont have to keep playing.Games are made for entertainment and if you’re not entertained, feel free to leave and go do something else.Bashing for the sake of bashing things isnt really anything constructive at allEdgy teenager? Go look at the "How old are you" poll...Of course I'm free to go do something else. But there is nothing else out there; is there? So. take your stupid "White Knight" comment and -- to use your terms -- "...feel free to leave and go do something else."People other than White Knights are allowed to have opinions, and such opinions are not "bashing for the sake of bashing." HoT and PoF were not well done. Period. You like them? Great. I do not, for a whole lot of reasons. Fundamentally, they aren't in keeping with the original game; but there are a whole lot of additional flaws in the design beyond that. So, take your entitled teenager mentality and harass someone else; okay? The problem is you saying "it is bad" and not "i think it's bad". You make a statement as a fact and everyone disagreeing with you is a white knight. Of course you're allowed to have opinions, but saying there's nothing else out there is a hyperbole that puts the Himalaya to shame. Distort much? You are rationalizing your own bad behavior and distorting what someone else said to justify it. THAT is the hyperbole.

  11. What's the next expansion seller for me?It's free.I'm so disappointed in HoT and PoF that I will not pay for another expansion.
  12. It stands to reason IRL fitness and diets can affect reaction times and decision making. As you get older, you slowly but steadily fall apart. Yeah I’m hoping that my diet and exercise would slow down the aging process. The idea of falling apart is frightening yet a sad reality.Diet and exercise do make a difference... but it needs to be the right kind of diet (low cholesterol and roughage) and the right kind of exercise program (I recommend free weights). For males, we start losing 1-2% of our muscle mass every year about the time we hit 40, plus testosterone levels drop dramatically. Your metabolism is heavily influenced by the amount of muscle mass and by your testosterone. A pound of fat, for instance, only burns one or two calories per day; a pound of muscle burns five or six calories per day, so it is important to maintain your muscle mass. Side benefits of weight training: stronger tendons and ligaments, making you less likely to incur injuries; and more bone mass which equates to more cartilage at the joints and more bone marrow. More bone marrow means you have higher red blood cell production which equates to better transport of oxygen and nutrients throughout your body (and better removal of the effects of "work" by your muscles), plus more white blood cells. Add in some cardiovascular workouts and your aerobic capacity dramatically increases. You won't necessarily live longer since genetics is a significant factor in your longevity, but quality of life is much better if you maintain a reasonable level of fitness. Real fitness, not rationalized fitness... Your eyesight is still going to fade; your reflexes will slow to some extent; the girls will start calling you a "dirty old man" no matter what; but at least you'll live long enough to become a "dirty old man"...At my age (yes, I'm one of the old farts) I doubt I could remember what to do with a girl if I ever caught one, anyway... ;)
  13. It's imbalanced in terms of resource availability (e.g., getting leather and cloth) and there are problems with getting resources at low levels (e.g., copper and green wood), not just the special items (e.g., teeth, blood, scales, etc.) needed for insignias and modifiers to the crafting recipes. Without those insignias, it is impossible to level crafting. As such, I play nine different characters and my level 80's periodically go back to low level areas just to get mats for my low level characters.Well-done crafting allows players to craft items that are consistent with the character level, presuming that they are attentive with obtaining resources as they level up. In GW2 -- especially after they dumbed down the game and made it so easy to level -- characters will out-level their ability to craft gear very quickly. Crafting skills then lag significantly until a player reaches level 80. Even cooking produces foods that are not very useful to higher level characters, not to mention that only one food buff is active at a time; why produce 50 cakes, cookies, pies, or whatever if it will take you all year to eat them? In that respect, it's obvious that crafting wasn't very well thought out.Mostly, it seems crafting was intended to be a time-sink and a gold-sink in addition to filling up our bags and banks with junk, thus giving us incentive to buy more bag-space and bank-space at the TP.I have found that selling mats is about the only [legal] way to make gold in the game... obviously, given the number of necromancer bots I see, there are other ways, too, but I'm not going to resort to that.
  14. Given the extent to which the game has been dumbed down since release, I don't think a new game is appropriate. Bring back the original gameplay...The graphics are fine considering that gameplay is mostly 3rd person and zoomed out to get a better FOV. The races and professions are fine considering that none of them are very robust to begin with. Right now it's a fairly simple game to play; creating a new simple game to play in some sort of GW3 will accomplish nothing more than to deplete the existing player base as they leave to chase the latest Game-That-Shall-End-All-Games just over the horizon (only it's never really there).Personally, I think they need to ditch the mastery points and hero points to fix the skill system -- they already dumbed down the game from what it was at release, so why add the grind? -- but that's just my opinion.
