  1. The wiki is always a great resource for these kinds of questions: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Essence_of_Luck_(exotic) Since you say you have no more use for the lower tier ones, one good method would be to upgrade those to exotic tier with an artificer, if you have time you can get a lot during the Lunar New Year event from the lucky bags. Finally if you are in a hurry you can salvage ectoplasms which gives you a ton of luck. This may seem expensive but remember you will also get Crystalline Dust from this which you can sell on the tp again (or use to upgrade tier 5 to tier 6 crafting components) to make up for the gold you invested.
  2. PvP League 2v2 Season Ten and the current PvP League Season Thirty-Nine are missing from the API, it would be nice if they could be added.
  3. Imagine designing game mechanics that are unworkable at default game settings 🤡
  4. This thing is so unreliable and unfun that it should be removed from all levels tbh.
  5. So for me, the hardest mechanic is landing on the platform with the grappling hook. In particular, for the higher platforms, I cannot grapple to them as there is no top surface area I can see to land the skill on. Placing the grapple less than perfectly will have you bounce back immediately from the mushroom. It is kind of frustrating to be able to navigate through all CM mechanics but this base fractal mechanic has the team whipe because of the clunkiness of the grapple mechanic. It would be great if you could do something about that.
  6. You don't have to, it automatically fires on all the nodes, resetting them (if they are owned by the enemy team) in the process.
  7. Nah, there are basically two camps in this thread, on one hand there are the people that are calling out to nerf engi and in particular scrapper because they don't know how to counter a recently popular grenade build that has literally only 1 stun break. On the other hand, you have the engi enjoyers that are afraid that it will be nerfed again to not being viable in any higher level competitive gameplay. Up until recently, you would have people being actively toxic against scrapper players demanding they switch or afk. I personally think the easy-to-counter glass cannon builds you see nowadays are a lot healthier for PVP than the bunker meta of half a decade ago. Though I do hope Anet will also buff some other elite specs that haven't been viable in PVP for a while, such as the earlier-mentioned scourge. Scourge by the way used to be a very strong counter against engis due to all the boon corruption.
  8. You can activate the hammer by capping the area for your team, after you cap the hammer will fire.
  9. What is this scourge you are talking about? Never seen it (in pvp at least)...
  10. I'm not so sure where all the hate against engi comes from suddenly. I guess after a recent spike in player engi player count since last monthly tournament people suddenly see a class that has been so long out of the meta that they forgot how to counter it. Engi's are one of the least-played characters in gw2 (https://gw2efficiency.com/account/player-statistics) and I'm not sure that nerfing it's class identity to the extent that it becomes useless will do it any good. The recently popular grenade engi has literally 1 stun break and no stability. Throw some cc on it and stomp it into the ground easily. Get one or two players to run with skills that give revealed (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Revealed) to make it even more easy to see them coming, or just play spell breaker and completely ignore any damage they do.
  11. This is a bit of a vicious cycle though. Sure maybe the revenue from pvp focused players is less than from other modes, but on the other hand, the years-long negligence of sPvP by Anet hasn't done the PVP scene any good. I would be very interested to see what percentage of players played pvp 10 years ago vs now. But I'm pretty convinced that if Anet hadn't had such a lackluster stance towards their own sPvP, we may not have seen the massive bleed-out of players and instead it would have been possible to draw more competitively focused gamers in. But to pull that off, they would have had to address issues with the mode that exist for over a decade. One of which (but not limited to) is better dealing with in-game toxicity, you can have a player grieving a match, reporting and blocking them, and still be matched with them again the next game. You will get punished by the game if you leave a match due to a game crash or people leaving when they felt they played poorly and they want to avoid their teammates from losing rank points, but people who actively throw the match/afk see no consequences. But I don't know, probably they are too late to fix it now anyway. Probably people that used to play 5 or 10 years ago aren't going t come back now if Anet finally fixes it.
  12. Kinda guess work when the mesmer is stealthed tbh.
  13. Thanks! Any suggested counterplay? 🤓
  14. So I just played two matches against the same Mesmer who seems to be able to Signet of humility twice in approximately 10 seconds. Is there some kind of signet cooldown reset I'm not aware of? Or is this guy just straight-up using some exploit?
  15. It has been pretty interesting reading your replies. Some of you mentioned that what you find most appealing to the game is not captured well enough in the options, though I recognize GW2 has a lot to offer, I still think having 4 broad categories is more helpful than a 20 option pole where I would probably still miss some niches. I think the comments is an excellent place to mention what you are most excited about if it is not well captured by the poll. So the main take away from Anet’s February blog-post was that rather than spending 100% of their dev effort on living world/story patches they want to distribute their efforts a bit more allowing to also work on content that hasn’t seen much focused in the past years. Though I am well aware about all the negativity around the latest patch, in particular the story content it brings, I actually think a broader scope approach is probably healthy for the game. First I think a reality check/expectation management would be good. Occasionally I see some of the more vocal critics on the game being angry about dev effort being spend on parts on the game that don’t interest them. I think people should be free to voice their opinion, but I think it is not very realistic to expect Anet to only spend time on things they like, but rather try cater to a broader audience. I get that a lot of this critique comes from a passion for the game, but, in the end it is up to Anet to decide what kind of game they want to make. Interestingly, guild wars 2 players seem to love the game, but have been super critical about patches and expansions as long as I remember. Anet is a relatively small studio in the mmo scene (the total number of employees is about 8.5% of that of blizzard), yet people seem to expect or even demand a constant flow of big content patches, this is just not very realistic. Instead, it makes sense for Anet to look into how they can deliver the most value for their players within the limits of what their team can deliver. Story and lore is important to set the tone and atmosphere in the game and to pique the interest of the players, but considering that even if they would triple their efforts on the story, the diehard gw2 fans would still easily finish it day one of the patch, I don’t think it makes sense to spend the vast majority of the development efforts there. I am pretty sure people would still complain about there not being enough story to play through even if they would increase it 10 fold. I’d rather see Anet writing a longer interesting story arc for an expansion release and potentially add some lighter “side story” content with following patches exploring the lore and deepening out some of the characters. They could even pull some small side stories that are hidden deep in the achievements panel and give them their own tab such that they are easier to find and keep track of. Good end-game content is something that can both get new players excited about the game as well keep long time players entertained in between expansions. I think it makes a lot of sense to develop maps with interesting meta-events or world bosses, as this keeps maps relevant for a long time. You can still find people playing world bosses that have been in the game for 10 years on a daily basis. I also think it is a smart move to introduce a new fractal. Even though we haven’t seen a new fractal for 2.5 years, many people still play them on a weekly or even daily basis. I think “Guild wars 2 is adding a new fractal dungeon” is a lot more marketable and generates a lot more hype than “we are adding an hour more story to the game”. It doesn’t make so much sense to create a popular game mode people are excited about and then ignore it for years, the same would count for raids (almost 4 years since the last raid) or player vs player modes. They don’t need to be the main focus of the studio, but it doesn’t make sense to completely ignore and forget about the content either (just such that the entire team can work on living world episodes). I can see how much just the restructuring of the WvW reward system has already done for the game mode. With that in mind I am curious what is still to come, what they will do in other game modes. I am in general not sad to hear that Anet wants to shift some of the focus away from living world type content and bring some more focus on other parts of the game. Sure I understand that if you play guild wars 2 only to play through as much story as possible that sucks, but GW2 does not need to be your only game. I think that mainly focusing on story content wouldn’t be a smart strategy for Anet as they will never be able to pump out enough story focused content to keep the player base engaged with the game. This is something regular updates or additions to end-game/repeatable content such as world bosses, instanced content or new WvW/PvP features can deliver on. As far as I can see from the pole, it is something a lot of people on the forums are interested in.
  16. Hi all! I wanted to have another look at Anet's recent blog update. In a nutshell, they stated that historically they have needed pretty much their entire team to push Living world and that other parts of the game received little attention as a consequence (we noticed). They say that they want to rebalance this and give some love to other popular parts of the game (I think that can be a good thing). Though I know there are a couple of other threads on this blog update, they all seem to be mostly by people being angry about there being fewer (living world) maps with future updates (though there are those that are thrilled to get some content after their game mode was forgotten for years). I personally care far more about content quality and replayability than about how many maps this is distributed. I rather see a few dense and entertaining maps with some nice meta events and some engaging instanced content than 6 more living story maps people only grind for legendary trinket collections (looking at you Aurora). I still frequently play the original HoT maps for their meta-events, but I can hardly remember when I was last in the desolation and while I am sure I have played every fractal at least 50 times, I still get more enjoyment out of them than I get from collecting orchids on Draconis mons. Rather than jumping into emotions directly just because there may be fewer new maps, I'll try to reflect on what Anet has actually announced. I've made a small chronological overview of their post to help with that. What do you think? can this be a case of "less is more"? What type of game content do you engage most with? What would you like to see more of? General more support for popular game modes (WvW? Fractals? other?) quality-of-life improvements new features story updates EOD update 1 (Februari 28) new map new Jade sea “foe” update 2 (a few months later: summer 2023) new map expanding meta-events boss encounters Additional updates are neither announced or ruled out Unnamed expansion (new story arc) Release (Fall/winter or later if additional updates are added to EOD) 2 new maps 2 strike missions new gameplay and combat features (new system) new masteries new rewards Updates (somewhere in 2024 probably) new map new story chapters strike mission CMs new fractal dungeon + CM new rewards additions to new system Additional updates are not announced or ruled out Second unnamed expansion (less than 2 years after the previous expansion). I would expect this to arrive no earlier than late 2024 but before 2026.
  17. 1) If you don't buy the ex-pack you can still continue to play all the content you allready own -> thus in no way a subscription fee. 2) Other MMOs like FF14 or WOW require you to pay a subfee and still require you to buy the ex-pack too if you want to play that content. GW2 has always been super generious by only asking you to pay for the expansions (priced at only 2 months subfee of the competition) and still adding a buttload of free content on top of that. (I have no idea how they have made that work, they must be paying their devs minimum wage or something). In case of the earlier named competition you will have to pay every month just to be able to play the game that you have already bought! 3) Arenanet is super transparent about their business model, yes you can buy things in game, but non of that is required to play the game that you allready bought and if you are really tight for money you can buy all gem store items for in-game currency. There is nothing sleazy about that. 4) Developers need food. If you want to have everything for free Arenanet cannot pay their employees and their devs will need to find new jobs and the development as well as the servers of GW2 will have stop.
  18. HoT can be very tricky indeed. I had exactly the same experience when I first entered the content. There is a noticable leap in difficulty from the core game. The best tip I can give you is to have a look at some of the 3th party websites with builds. A strong build can make a huge difference in terms of survivability. Note that a lot of popular PVE damage builds are often played in combination with a healer there to keep them alive. I typically make use of my build slots to have at least one open world/solo build and one specialist build (dps/healer/boon suppoort) which is talored towards group play. For open world builds have a look at these: https://metabattle.com/wiki/Open_World or https://hardstuck.gg/gw2/builds/?gw2gametype=open-world&d=0 another good resource but focused on group content is: https://snowcrows.com/.
  19. I also have game crashes, though it can happen with any graphics settings for me, interestingly reinstalling the game reduces the frequency of game crashes, after a while the game starts to crash more and more often until it is so often that I decide to reinstall the game again.
  20. Precisely! Just to be clear, I am not trying to argue here to have collections removed from the game, it is pretty clear that there are plenty of people here enjoying them. I would however like it if Anet would consider alternative paths to completing some of the collection heavy unlocks for those who are not into them. I tryed to suggest something like that in the other thread, as I think this could be a way to make both sides happy, but from the reactions it seemed like a lot of people hate the idea of people getting an alternative path. (Even though I don't really see how that affects their own gameplay). In my option GW2 + HoT is absolutely world class, best MMO experience out there. Some design choices since PoF I am not so fond of in particular heavy realiance on collections. But I'll remember that I can play all content without mounts next time that I try to keep-up with a meta-event train while the rest of the players fly of and finish the next event before I can even get there.
  21. Sure, this is why I included the adjective 'nice' describing said quest. I am not going to have an argument about whether collections consisting out of more collections can or cannot be considered a quest or questline. Like I am not going to have an argument on whether beans in tomatosauce may be considered a healthy and nutricious meal. Still I don't consider either of them being nice. And yes that is my own subjective opinion, no need to have an argument about whether I am entitled to hold that opinion or not.
  22. Nah Anet knows they could sell an invisible mount skin for 2000 gems ez
