  1. I'm grateful that they compensated us. They did not have to, but they did. It shows some consideration. However... The message their well intended effort sends is perhaps not the healthiest for the game. The fact this actively encourages people to force their way into the game during server issues and hiccups, "just in case of compensation", is a rather undesirable by-product of their kindness. I'd rather have seen everyone compensated equally, or not at all. But hey, their choice. These things happen so rarely anyway. Nonethless, props to Arena Net for trying to do what's right, especially in these crazy times.
  2. I respectfully disagree with you there, because there's more than the "eh" and the "reeee" people. There is a clear third party. Some of us are concerned for the message that Arena Net sends out to the playerbase, by encouraging them to desperately keep trying to get into the game in case of future server hiccups. You know, just in case they'll miss out on a €15,- gift. That's an unhealthy message to send your playerbase, so I hope they'll find a moment to compose a proper response to that particular concern. Mostly because I hugely respect Arena Net. No sub fee, no maintenance schedule and close to no downtime, good customer support; the list goes on, they're good people, and it'd be a shame to see them shoot themselves in the foot by providing compensation in a somewhat questionable manner.
  3. If this doesn't highlight what isn't "quite right" about the method of compensation, I don't know what will. The fact we got compensation is great. They didn't have to, but they did and I welcome that. It's positive! Very much so.The fact it's linked to a somewhat arbitrary timestamp is less than great, especially if it unfortunately encourages people to actively force themselves into the game while it's being worked on in the future. Because "what if next time I miss out on a mount?!". That's not a healthy message to send a playerbase, I feel, so I hope they'll reconsider and carefully address things in the days to come.
  4. Everyone involved deserves the compensation, period. I was made aware of the issue down the line, and decided not to log in because it was irrational to do so. If I was going to get rolled back, I didn't want to spend an afternoon playing to lose my progress. I also didn't want to pressure the servers further, or become part of the problem. My reward for being considerate and less needy? Nothing. Literally nothing. Just give every account that's been active shortly before, during and after the issue the compensation. It isn't rocket science. EDIT: The reason I say this, is because I hugely respect Arena Net. The game has run for literal years without a maintenance schedule, which is nothing short of a feat. I feel like it would be a shame to see people quit or refuse to invest in gems in the future due to this compensation lacking some much needed solidarity.
  5. Old issue but perhaps worth looking into, with all the recent wonderful QOL things being pushed. If I block a person, but they add me to their Friend list, they can still see my location and Achievement points. It works in reverse too - tested with a friend. Friend blocked me (we talked over voice), and 'lo and behold, my Friend List didn't update. I saw them as online, up until the moment I tried to send a Whisper. So currently, it's a little awkward if you block someone who's being terribly obnoxious but keep seeing them loom over you from a distance because they need serious therapy because the Block list isn't effectively blocking everything as it should. I've had a person literally stalk me for a while now (but silently, so impossible to report) and up until today, I couldn't fathom how on earth they could find me everywhere I go in the game. Might be worth looking into!
  6. Giving this a bump too, because it's been literal weeks and I'm tired of seeing my little guy looking hella sad during emotes.
  7. The bug unfortunately persists after the major patch that dropped this week.Arena Net, please, address this soon!
  8. Accidentally made another post, unaware that this was here. The face rig/animation is distorted pretty badly on a number of facial presets, down to the point of polygons clipping out at the bottom - the mouth's pulled down that far and while hilarious for a split second, I hope they can fix this in the next patch.
  9. I wasn't sure where to post this - it's a bug? An update? A feature? - but ever since the last patch, several Asura face presets have some odd distortions around the mouth during most emotes and animations. Rather than moving naturally, the corners of the mouth are drawn down way further than they ever were. It's bizarre, distorted and frankly offputting after years of seeing one thing and now getting another. Any word on what's caused this and whether or not this will be reverted? (EDIT: Saw it's been put up on the Bug Report forum. Apologies for this extra post.)
  10. Ahhhh, I can only hope this will be the first of many posts with such transparent communication! Either way, very happy to see this!Looking forward to those Fractal changes, if anything. Just hearing them mentioned after so long brings a spark of joy, haha.
  11. Wonderful ideas up there. It's high time we get some new styles to ploink on our characters. So have a nudge, a thumbs up and a good day! ~~The day my asura lads can have a French twirly moustache or a slick and stylish goatee, they'll be unstoppable! ~~
  12. Gasp! Isn't it marvelous? I realise it was a bit too concise to really convey my tone and understanding of the topic. I'm well aware of how taxing it is to go back and adjust these things - additional meshes, texture (and UV) overhauls, readjusting animations and particle scripts, possibly rigging and skinning that needs to be addressed all over again - it's quite a lot and I'm sure I missed a dozen things. Am just crossing into the 3D industry myself, so I dread to think of what effort goes into creating these and still... Still I wanted to try! See, I feel confident that one day Arena Net might pick up on the plethora of people who would more eagerly reach into their pockets to pay for an outfit if it's a tidbit more flexible in its presentation. Push that envelope, as Leo G says! After all, for years they said they didn't like the idea of mounts. Never stopped the community from excitedly providing an endless stream of ideas - ranging from brilliant to lazy, silly to "now or I quit" - but in the long run they entertained the idea nonetheless. Same goes for the chairs. A teensy tiny group of players wished they could sit on chairs, in any way. After a two year break, I get back and 'lo and behold, the chairs were a reality. It doesn't hurt to share suggestions! If anything, it can be a lot of fun. And I greatly appreciate the comments and explanations. Have a great day, everyone!
  13. Ah, I am aware of this, but it seemingly doesn't hold up for every outfit. Some of the 3D models do have textured (and properly UV'd) flat parts under the shoulder pieces and I'd gladly take a "boring" flat shade that matches the rest of the attire, if it prevents clipping errors. Found a couple of outfits showcased by artists on Artstation - Arena Net outsource the creation of outfits to another company at times, which is an interesting side note.Nonetheless, I still have my fingers crossed for them to consider tweaking the outfits in the future. If only to avoid the painfully awkward clipping errors... especially considering they dipped into the outfit territory to avoid that very issue. I'm just a little hopeful for a distant future tweak, and felt like throwing it out there, in case any of them ever pick up on it and see the merits. If not; all is well. I enjoy them anyway.
  14. On basically all outfits the helmet can be hidden. On a number of outfits gloves can be hidden, too. It'd be nice to see the gloves optional on each set.And from there, hiding the shoulders would be a logical next step, right? See, some of the best outfits have bulking shoulders that clip into character faces or necks (in combat) - a real waste of some artists' hard work.I've no doubt I am not alone in feeling this way. Just a thought I did not want to leave unspoken. Fingers crossed for it to be implemented one day. Cheers!
