  1. Crying all over again, so dumb because I didn't know him well, have never even heard his voice because I seldom go into discord. I am Sproxz, some from SOR and some from other server might know me. I am toxic, I am nasty, I am garbage player. I know this. But I scout, and sometimes roam around even with my trash garbage build and way of playing.... I have spent more hours than I care to admit in Home BL, sometimes watching over a keep or checking on something, having peace of mind knowing Sawda was out there watching other parts of map. I knew his callouts were genuine, I came running when I could. There were times he was defending a camp, getting ganked, and sometimes I get there just in the nick of time and manage to save him or help turn the tide of the fight and I feel so great, not just because the camp was saved, but it felt so awesome to help out a guy like Sawda. He was that nice, he was that devoted, he was friendly (even to a garbage player like me) that it made you feel good to try to help him. For me, nothing is worse for a scout than to have your callout go ignored, or better for a scout than to have it answered and save the objective (and maybe get a few bags in the process). So I was ALWAYS super happy when I got to run to a Sawda callout, because it gave me a small way to show him how much he is appreciated and demonstrate to him that, at the very least, I will give an effort to his callouts when I was able. Every time now when I am playing (the rare times I do, I ragequit lately)... every time I run to save NC or am kiting around in the circle trying to stall until more help arrives, I will be thinking of devoted scout, Sawda. It feels so strange, I am just random pug and toxic enough in game that I don't really make friend, but I am legit sad to lose Sawda and feel gutted by this news. I appreciate there will be a memorial at NC and I will be there, hopefully early enough to beat any queue. I hope Anet can do the Eagle thing, but even if they don't, I will always think of him watching over NC and feel his presence when I am out messing around like I do. RIP, Sawda. You were such a cool, nice guy even to jerk player like me. So sad to hear of your passing. I didn't know you well, but I think your friends and family lost a really great guy. Sawda = BEST SOR SCOUT <--coming from a sometime SOR scout ~Sproxz [TEA]
  2. This persistent silence and refusal to offer any update or even honest admission that this will never happen is shameful but not surprising. Arenanet lied about Alliances and continues to lie by not setting the record straight. This is extremely disrespectful to wvw players and shows how lowly they view their players who primarily play WvW. I feel insulted and angry about how they've neglected wvw for so long, and how Alliances were just some promised vaporware feature to string people along, and now they don't even have the decency to say a word about it, even if it's admitting what is obvious to most of us: Alliances are never going to happen.
  3. This is where you are not understanding. This "God of WvW" is not time based either. I have played 7,319 hours over 2,910 days, probably 95% of that time in WvW. How have I NOT "put in the time and probably played all 8 years" while the zergling who is considered a "God WvW" has? You're right that this is not a title based on skill, but it's not based entirely on time devoted to the game mode either, it is primarily dependent on ktraining with a zerg or farming EoTM 24/7 for weeks/months back when it was the fastest way to rank up. You claim there "is no title" that could prove you are a good WvW player, but Anet could be reasonable and not solely require 10K rank to unlock this "God of WvW" title. Another alternative path to unlock it could be if you have completed all the main achievements in WvW that everybody has access to. It would at least give those of us who do things other than zerging when we're playing WvW a means to unlock an otherwise unobtainable title. Currently I've completed:-Emblem of Avenger (108 times)-Emblem of Conqueror (29 times)-A Pack Dolyak's Best Friend-All We See, We Own-Going Camping-Master of Disaster-Nice View From Up Here-Realm Defender-Repair Master-Stay Out!-Stonemist Stands Firm--Again-Stopped Them Cold-Take Everything in Sight-Walls Get in the Way-Yakslapper-Spring Tournament 2014: 2nd Place (x2 for some reason) <-- I don't count this as part of what would unlock the title because newer players obviously can't complete this one Incomplete:-Realm Avenger (139,023 / 250,000 kills)-God of WvW-Icebrood Saga Reward Track <-- not even sure what it takes to earn this one, maybe I just missed activating the reward track and now have missed it, idk Honestly, given how many people ranked up to 10k using EOTM (or traded kills in OS to get UD), it is pretty tonedeaf that they pick rank 10K as the sole path to unlocking a "God of WvW" title but don't consider the types of players who don't just follow a tag and ktrain or faceroll pugs every time they're in WvW. That is the point of my original post and the fact that you defend this silly title and it's even sillier criteria is beyond me when there are viable alternative ways to unlock a title like this that recognize more playstyles than just the zergling who thinks the only way to WvW is to stack on a tag and press 1111111111111. People could complete all of the other core WvW achievements except Realm Avenger/UD, the tournament achievements, and Icebrood Saga Reward Track and that should qualify them for a title like this too because they've certainly "put in the time" as well to complete all those achievements. What's funny is I'd probably never use the title because I don't use titles in the first place, but I was just pointing out how myopic the criteria was for this particular title and what a slap in the face it is for people who roam and scout and do the various other things found in WvW that are equally valid parts of the game mode and experience playing it. I'm pointing out I'm sick and tired of Anet's mentality being that the only way to legit play WvW and earn achievements and rewards is to follow a tag and turn your brain off. They clearly put next to NO thought into this title and want to put even less work into the meager bones they throw the WvW community, otherwise I would not be complaining about such a tonedeaf move.
  4. This is what bothers me the most. There are some really trash players who do nothing but blob, ktrain, and pvdoor in empty timezones... whose "skill" rests in following a tag around hitting 111111111 with their brain on auto pilot mode... who are the first to die on Inc, who mouse click skills and use the arrow keys on their keyboard to change directions when running, and these types will earn a title like "God of WvW" while some of the skilled roamers and havocs who could eat them alive, or the scouts and siege masters who understand map politics and aspects of the game mode they won't ever grasp, are thousands of rank levels away from that title and always will be. Just shows how out of touch anet is with all the playstyles of WvW. Just like always, blob harder and ktrain more, trade kills in OS for UD, or don't even bother with some of the titles anet thinks are signs of a great player because you clearly aren't a quality player unless you ktrain in a blob like a "God of WvW."
  5. Because it's a low effort bone they can throw the WvW players, like the "God of WvW" title, that they can pretend counts as content when really all it is a meaningless tweak to hide the fact that they're never going to give us any real news about alliances or other changes, especially not sorely needed QoL changes that players have been requesting for years.
  6. I've played since launch, and while I've taken some really long breaks from the game periodically, I have thousands of hours of playtime sunk into WvW. Because a huge portion of that time was (and is) spent scouting as a sentry in a tower, keep, or garri and actively running around tracking zergs and whatnot - I only have a rank around 4200. There was a time when it was not as easy to get wxp if you were a scout like it is now: shared participation wasn't always a thing, nor was it possible to earn wxp for repairing something, and you didn't get any bonus wxp for holding an objective that was attacked if you earned wxp near it while it was contested, normally from repairing. TL;DR -- to be a scout sucked and was and is often a thankless role where you miss out on a lot of the big fights and ktraining, especially if you're a pug scout. I'm by no means the best scout in the game, but I can read a map and am experienced enough to be in the right place at the right time and am proficient in placing and using siege, though I'm no siege master like some players. People who play with me often regard me as one of the better scouts/roamers on our server, which makes me laugh because I'm neither, especially not an elite roamer given my class and build, but I stand out because I'm one of the few left who's stupid enough to do these little things instead of just blindly following a tag in search of "content" as some like to call it... I did a little eotm ktraining back in the day, but nowhere near the amount that some farmed it (including guild groups with balanced compositions, fully geared out, and in comms who would go into eotm and farm upleveled pugs). I have around 130,000+ kills with a kdr around 25:1, but when I do get to participate in big fights, I'm often missing out on kills and wxp because I'm a support class who is frequently throwing down heals, rezzing people, and doing my best to CC enemies and chase them down if they're fleeing. I just explain all of the above because while I hardly would call myself a "God of WvW", I represent a playstyle that is likely never going to earn UD, though I'm probably considered a very skilled player for a pug, and will never earn enough wxp to be a God of WvW, though I've surely put in the time and effort many have, in fact much more so than those who just grinded their way to 10k rank in eotm or from endlessly zerging and ktraining. Once again, anet rewards players who Zerg and blob and use cheesy means to rank up to 10k or trade kills in OS while players who play the game mode in different but legit ways get left behind. You want to really make a change in WvW that matters, anet? A real QoL improvement that people have been requesting for years? How about making a visual icon pop up over siege that is under 30 min before it despawns so it's a lot easier for players like me to tick siege without having to click on every single piece to check how much time is left before it despawns? Even better would be a visual difference between a piece of siege that has 30+ minutes vs one that has less than 30 minutes, like looking more damaged or flashing or a big yellow icon over siege with less than 30 min left, big red icon if less than 10 min left, etc. But since after all these years you can't even handle making T2 walls that get under 50% hp look any more damaged like T1 and T3 walls do when they get damaged under 50% hp, or ever give us any meaningful updates on stuff like alliances, why should I expect any kind of real QoL improvements except low effort, pro-blobbing and pro-ktraining crap like this "God of WvW" title nonsense?
  7. Game is unplayable for me at this point. Horrible lag, latency the worst I've ever seen (and I've been playing since launch), and almost guaranteed disconnects shortly after entering a wvw map. I experience stuff like it taking several seconds to go through a door portal, or I dismount yet my skillbar never changes (still showing like I am mounted). I can dodge over and over again and my stamina bar never depletes. As an ele who relies on positioning and skills to stay alive in fights big and small, this makes the game utterly unplayable. I even have skill lag and similar issues in uncrowded pve maps. Game is broken in this state, at least for me.
  8. We've already lived through 2 months of this piss-poor link to each other, people have been at each other's throats (and many SOR players who logged in regularly are MIA now because of how bad the link is). YB simply doesn't have much numbers beyond NA and late NA and SOR is just a handful of pugs with one big guild and a couple of small roaming guilds. The two servers are totally ill-fitted for each other. And to add insult to injury, now FC+JQ just spawn-camping us with map queues relentlessly. YB+SOR can't even hang with TC and NSP most of the time, but we're expected to deal with FC+JQ? What a freaking joke this game mode is. Looks like two months of simply logging in to do my dailies and get through my diamond chests each week. Some of the worst links and match ups I've seen in recent times. I really want some of whatever the person who dreamed this crap up is smoking because I'm sure unhappy and the stuff he/she has to be smoking must be the bomb....
