  1. By "SC" are your referring to snowcrows? I don't see an open world section anywhere on their site. I would be surprised if they bothered with one at all given they are raid and strike focused. Engineer with Mechanist spec is the ultimate open world spec. That's not something that will be described in any build anywhere, but that's my experience and I think the experience of other players that go with it. The robot is very capable of doing enough damage on its own to hold aggro (if you withhold your own attacks for a few moments) and its 10x tankier than any ranger pet and won't die when it does. You can be drunk, high, standing on your head, playing 1 handed, with the wrong gear, and just rolling your face on the keyboard and still solo stuff that you have no business solo'ing. If you play with any level of competency nearly every one of those super challenging HoT HP's (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions) will be your crying b--ch. Open world build guides should be treated as inspiration and not gospel. You don't have to be full glass cannon because that's overkill and you're wasting ability slots on stuff you will rarely use. Instead use your abilities to save you time and provide QoL as you run around the world. You don't need a build that does 50k in damage in 10 seconds if you can kill everything around you with only 5k. Chances are the 5k build will be easier to play and give you more slots to move faster and die less.
  2. As far as balance goes, in 1-on-1 fights your minions only have 1 thing to attack, "balance" is irrelevant and nothing in the AI would be different. It's more about stopping minions from attacking that being a tactical genius with the dumb things. Go out and farm open world with a minion build and its nothing but frustration as your pets wander off and attack everything around you. Be in a fractal waiting for someone to /gg to your checkpoint but nope, your pet is fighting some rando mob you ran past 5 minutes ago which means you're still in combat. Or miss click while your squad commander is explaining mechanics and watch helplessly as your minions slowly walk over to the boss and start the fight. Not having any ability to recall or stop attacking is absolutely annoying.
  3. Both Ranger's and Engineer pets come with controls Attack my Target Return to me aggression mode toggle between Guard (Aggressive) and Avoid Combat Please give the same controls for minions/summons created by necromancers and elementalists (and anyone else that has them)
  4. Not a day 1 player exactly. I started and quit long before lw1 originally came out and I played during the original skill point system before hero points and masteries were in the game. I didn't come back until LW4 (post PoF) was out. I've bounced in and out of the game since then going mainly between FF14, SWTOR, WoW, and GW2. I'm currently maxed on all masteries, 536 points. My guess is if you play regularly every week (at least 10 hours/week), focus on grinding masteries, you could max all masteries in 3-4 months. 95% of this would be pure solo or joining open world groups for metas and HP trains. Only the raid masteries truly require organized group play because you have to kill 1 raids boss just to unlock that hot mastery line. Open World groups barely qualifies as group content. Think of it like "queued dungeons" that other games have. You get dropped into a group of randos, no one talks to each other because you don't need to, everyone is just a warm body, no one cares if you are any good at your class. However, there's less need to know what you're doing in gw2; just follow the crowd and you're good. Joining groups in open world to complete metas is about working smarter than harder, it’s not really necessary but if you’re grinding towards a goal it’s stupid not do it efficiently If you're not focused on mastery grinding it might take 2 years or longer. No one really cares if you have a lot of masteries. Some of the best players I know who have played forever don't bother with many masteries. The only 2 "mandatory" masteries are gliding and skyscale. Get gliding by starting EoD xpac and skyscale from SoTo. Don't really have to do more than that. The only reason I consider those "mandatory" is that the qol they offer is too much to skip them.
  5. Relics and Jade bots were added and they impact combat (Jade bots through added vitality). Jade Bots require EoD. Relics are core game and I'm pretty sure op would have been sent freebies by anet
  6. Might and Magic trophies are expensive. Got to check out better ways to farm that stuff.
  7. Any prof allowed to use main hand pistol should get an offhand pistol too, because dual pistols are cool. For necromancer I would like to see a ghost/spirit/possession theme spec. No new weapons but go out and enslave the spirits of enemies you defeat to create a stable of pets similar to ranger. Shroud would become "possessed" and give slightly different abilities based which spirit you summoned. This should give a spec capable of supporting different styles (tank, support, heal, power dps, condi dps, etc...)
  8. Keep in mind that GW2 is very alt-friendly. Recipes that you buy from vendors, buy from TP, or get as drops are learned account-wide and shared by all characters and you have a shared currency, shared bank, shared material storage, even a small # of shared inventory, but the crafting skill is still character specific and there are many recipes learned through "discovery" (no recipe required) that remain character specific. The expense of leveling the skill more than once just isn't worth the tiny incremental benefit because you can always log off your current character, swap to the one that can do the craft, chuck the items in the bank or shared inven, and swap back to the character that needs it. A process that maybe adds a few minutes onto a process that you will rarely need to do.
  9. If you have a target and double-click an empty spot of ground, it clears your target. Is there a way to turn that off? I'm thinking that I've been subconsciously doing this during fights and losing my target mid-fight at random times. I don't like using auto-targeting since really messes with movement abilities and even when I previously used auto target, this seemed to happen. Thanks,
  10. I've noticed the combat thing but its really brief, like 1 second. Generally if you take damage and now have less than 100% health you have to wait for "out of combat regeneration" to kick in to be out of combat. The ability does damage to you. This seems like expected behavior.
  11. only 2 out of those 4 were self explanatory, the others were really obscure especially the FF14 screenshot. Try finding anything in Boston (with GPS!), you'll appreciate gw2's city layouts after that.
  12. OP, you are an honest person and the world needs more like you.
  13. The more modes you play in this game, the easier it is to get ascended gear. Here's a good guide on gearing up with sections on obtaining ascended gear. It is by no means comprehensive https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Tanetris/So_You_Want_To_Gear_a_Character Raids, Strikes, and to a lesser degree Fractals are good sources of currency that you can buy ascended gear with. It's also possible to get ascended gear from wvw and pvp but I play those modes far less often than so I don't know how easy it is. Living World 3 zones, especially Bitterfrost Frontier, allows you to farm nodes for items like "winterberries" that can be used as currency to buy all the ascended trinkets, underwater breather, and backpack. You will also need Unbound Magic, which you can easily get by buying the Unbound Magic Harvesting/Logging/Mining tools from LW3 Karma merchants allowing you to farm unbound magic anywhere from any node. Same with LW4 zones but personally I prefer the LW3 zones. There are also achievements that reward ascended weapons many of these achievements are found under Collections > Specialization Collections. You can also get an ascended weapon for finishing the HoT story. See the wiki for the Caladbolg Reforged (note: HoT spoilers there). If you play the game with a plan, you can get a full set of ascended gear easily. If you play it randomly, it won't happen.
  14. i think that alac/quick are extremely overpowered shared/party boons and I’m not surprised that anet wants to nerf them. A relic that generates alc and/or quick as a boon for yourself only is fine but not one that’s shared.
  15. Have you tried the high contrast cursor in the options.
  16. in the game already as one of the IBS masteries https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ash_Legion_Mount_Stealth
  17. Not sure myself but check in the Guild Initiative Headquarters on the far east side of the zone. Or maybe the Vaults which is NW of the Asura Gates to other cities, in the middle of the map
  18. SPEAR! Both 1 handed and 2 handed options. If there was ever a land weapon that should be added to this game it should be the Spear! Spears were the primary weapon for army's (both infantry and calvary) in nearly every part of the world until guns became viable infantry weapons. Swords were backup weapons. Axes and bows were specialist weapons. Pointy sticks is what people primarily used to kill animals and kill each other with Hells bells, even today in the modern era, soldiers carry bayonets to turn their riles into a spear!
  19. Pof stomps HoT in nearly everyway, better story, better game play, way, way, way better zones. The hot metas are much better.
  20. Tested and it does not work. You have to log off or switch zones to ditch aviator.
  21. I wouldn't recommend that. If it's a problem caused by a crash or bug where the overlay stopped responding a keylogger won't necessarily narrow it down. A keylogger would create a security hole you don't want on your pc and anyone else that used your PC was aware it had a keylogger may react in a very hostile way towards you because keyloggers are used for bad things.
  22. Yes. I would agree that its disappointing, but then my main is a necro loaded with base line boon strips and corrupts. Depending on the situation I would recommend a dodge-related sigil (for pvp and wvw roaming) or just focus on more damage/heals/shields (enhancing your zerg role)
