  1. 1) But the point is to return to having a siege-play that makes sense. And conquering a defended keep should be a job for good numbers In the current state of things this is not the case: the blob arrives places 4 catapults in the same square meter and spams bubbles one after the other. A catapult should be used as a ranged siege weapon and not as a personal ram for walls,at point blank with perma shields spammage 4 or more catapults that fire without even having to charge the shot have a tremendous advantage compared to 1 single mortar, which instead takes 20 seconds to turn in the correct direction and then has to charge the power gauge. And once you find the distance, you have a projectile that must hit 4 or more catapults protected by 4 or more shields + the shield generators (but it is also rare to see shield generators in the openfield nowadays, if you say otherwise you are shamelessly lying) Small groups should do things within their reach. Maybe try to steal a tower while the bulk of the enemy forces are occupied elsewhere!? 2) What skill are we talking about here? Managing a 1 vs X roaming scenario or guy A who gets downed in the boonball tags guy B who gets cleaved and magically comes back up?! Zerg fight at the end of the day is in fact a carpet bomb. You can't sell it to me like it's champagne football. It's a game of bait to "carpet bomb". Aren't we here complaining every day about the boonball meta?! At least with every mistake you reduce the numbers and with that maybe the sustain. 3)Here I don't know how to argue: we should see with system that divides the bulk of the people into balanced groups, so as to have more defense and attack "events" scattered across the map, instead of a gigantic blob that rotates objectives like a pvp blob doing a meta in pve
  2. 1) Siege rework: catapults have a minimum distance from the walls where they can be built and can be built at a certain distance from each other (to prevent stacking) bubble removal from catapults, there are shield generators for that. (you build 4 catapults? then you need 4 shield generators) sieges receive full damage when hit by other sieges (e.g. ballista,ac,catapults...) and receive 80% less damage when hit by player attacks delete the stupid dredge bike from the game I believe that the siege mechanics have been totally dismantled in favor of a gameplay that is certainly faster but has lost value. Conquering a castle should be something important (just like defending it) and should require adequate work and time: spamming 4 or more catapults close to a wall and cleaning the opposing defenses by spamming aoe should not be the case. 2) Removal of the downed state It's a mechanic that has its uses in PVE but shouldn't be present in a mode exclusively dedicated to PVP. If you go down you respawn. 3) Halve the number of players who can join a single raid in WvW So you have smaller blobs and more groups organized in a map
  3. Look, initially I played a lot of Engi ,specifically the scrapper as soon as it was introduced into the game. Then Anet made some changes that I didn't like at all (imo it ruined that profession) and so I put it aside. Today I mainly play warrior: I have 2 builds that I made and which basically are not the "usual reheated soup that "the meta proposes or that everyone generally runs with. A berserker confiusion burst when I want to roam solo. A spellbreaker for medium big scale roaming, versatile enough to have its own even in zergfight I've played a bunch of classes and builds. The only ones I've never played that much are ele and rev. I play the thief mainly to troll, when i feel like doing nothing lol : gear ministrel, perma evade and I get chased for hours
  4. imo, it really depends on the build you use. Classes like a thief or a mesmer, with access to stealth, make excellent gankers. Exactly like trapper rangers or trapper dragonhunters were back in the day, despite not having very notable access to stealth BUT having said that it really depends on the build you use and the knowledge you have of the game. I personally don't use meta builds (I don't like the idea of meta in general) so I roam with whatever I like to play and when im roaming i see a little bit of everything. I can't say that there is a BIS for roaming, at most I can say that there are classes that have an easier life due to certain disengagement and engagement mechanics.
  5. I think Gw2 is THE mmorpg with the worst stealth system applied to a class in the history of mmorpgs. Someone already mentioned it, rogue stealth in WoW is implemented honestly: it gives you the initial tactical advantage of positioning, but once you're in combat you have to use a major cooldown to get back into it. But not only that: a rogue, a feral druid or a nightelf in shadowmelt had that 3 second window in which they appeared transparent and allowed you to react if you were fast enough. You literally heard the sound of stealth on and off and so even if you couldn't see it you knew there was someone stealthed around you. This is why i say it was an honest mechanic. One game that implemented a very good stealth mechanic, IMO, was Archeage. It was a stealth that worked by proximity and direction so If you were invisible and you approached another player: - from the front, you were seen from kinda far away - from the sides you were seen mid range - from behind you were seen at melee range.
  6. Thief is Anet's spoiled son. Regardless of how rude, pain in the kitten, abusive and terrible he is... he will never be put in his place. Never a scolding (balance), never 2 slaps(nerf). And over time he will continue to grow by continuing to be rude, pain in the kitten, abusive and terrible. facts :)
  7. Now, to give a serious answer to the topic. Imo the point is that devs want to treat WvW like they treat open world pve. I can't say if this is due to the fact that those who work at WVW are kinda incompetent with PVP or if they generally work on PVE and find themselves doing PVP stuff too.(cos they have to) But if we look at the changes made in WvW over the last 7-8 years it's the only reason that comes to mind. They should have understood certain things back in the day when they tried to push spvp as an Esport and it failed miserably because everyone was running bunker builds and no one wanted to see a duel that lasted 30 minutes... but then why do they keep pushing for this boonball, which imo works just like bunkers but zerg edition? Or do we want to talk about desert BL? I don't remember that the community asked arenanet for a map full of pve mechanics, lords with pve raid mechanics and a labyrinthine navigation of the map. And yet that's what they did. The gameplay we have today is the same as the Karma Train days on EOTM. "Member"when zergs ignored each other to farm the map in a circle(almost by mutual agreement) ?. There were once guilds that specialized in fortifying towers and castles, and sieges took time.Gone Today it takes a blob seconds to break through a wall and just as many seconds to clear defensive sieges. So what's the point of spending time and resources setting up defensive sieges when you can easily tank everything because you have crazy sustain? Then they added the gliders (and most people were against it), because obviously they had to sell the skins to the pvpers but they also had to make morphological changes for example in EBG for this addition. Then they added mounts (people didn't want them), because again they had to sell the skins to the pvpers. But then those who didn't have them felt heavily penalized and warclaws were nerfed to the ground. Couldn't they have thought of it before? Imo they removed what was the buildup that led to the siege mechanic (and obviously everything that came from it) to speed everything up by normalizing the karma train and making it meta. But not only that: every single expansion has introduced new mechanics, the problem is that many others have not been updated to keep up. A clear example are mortars: 8 or 9 years ago they were fine, because 8 or 9 years ago you could spend 10 seconds turning it in the direction of an offensive trebuchet and spend another minute guessing the distance and the right power. Today who builds a trebuchet outside the walls? Nobody.(maybe some roamers?just for the sake of being really annoying?) Today a commander arrives with his zerg, throws 4 catapults and by the time you turn the mortar the wall is already gone. It's a s***show lol
  8. See ?! Everywhere you look the problem is always the same: thief. And the solution has always been one: nerf stealth.
  9. Just to put the icing on the cake, in that period they also offered free transfers for 1 or 2 months... lol maybe you joined a server and literally the next morning most of the guilds had moved elsewhere, fun times
  10. Just like i was saying in an other topic lol it didn't take long: 14 hours
  11. I mean....... it could be, no idea. But let's also remember when that glider skin got buggy and what they did: 1) did they disable the skin in WvW? OR 2) did they disable the entire gliding system in WvW for 1-2 days? and anyway there will always be someone who exploits and manages to enter in a way they shouldn't,so if preventing abuse is the excuse, it seems weak to me Also,if ANET really want to prevent abuses should start with NERFing STEALTH LOL
  12. This change bothered me extremely. Not so much because now I have to rebuild my muscle memory, but because it perfectly highlights how WvW is never taken into consideration. It is another case where it is decided to make a change for PVE which impacts the WvW. How many mounts does the pve have available?8? How many mounts in wvw? Was it necessary? NO
  13. The big benefit of pre-ordering is that you have time to overcome the guilt of the purchase. So if the expansion turns out to be a flop you can say that when you ordered it and from what the devs had shown you it seemed like the best thing of the world. 😁
  14. - 90% of siege gameplay consist in dropping 6 catapults on the same pixel,as close as possible to a wall. The remaining 10% is people trebbing from a tower while watching netflix. - the various bodies of water do not make a navigable route that connects tower to tower. There are small lakes near 2 keeps at best. - staph with the "promote pve activities in a pvp zone so that more pve players will join pvp activities" mentality. Does not WORK like that. A guy joining EBG for fishing will just fish and will gtfo as soon as some pvp caresses him... and honestly he will probably opening a post here complaining how the WvW community is a toxic environment for not letting him fishing.
  15. I got those vistas while doing the first block of "do open world events" to unlock the next step of the story. Hey all im saying is...shouldn't be hard in 2024 to have a quest "understanding" that you already did that step so you don't have to backtrack and do it again a second time... Also let me skip dialogues.
  16. Story step: unlock 3 vistas. Pinnacle of story telling Also if you already discovered those 3 vistas you have to go back and watch them again to complete the step lol
  17. Train your minds: a true warrior does not rely only on sight: smell, hearing, the perception of the opponent's bloodlust. You still have a lot to learn, young apprentices.
  18. Why tho? EBG has constant activity and more players 24/7 compared to all the other BLs.
  19. Just activate player collision in wvw 🙂
  20. In this beta I decided NOT to join any guild to see where I would end up. The maps are relatively full, I don't think there were any moments in which we were outnumbered while playing. (maybe i was just lucky with playtime) The only substantial difference I noticed was the lack of guild raids and the tags that appeared seemed to be mostly pugmanders. I play mostly EBG, don't know if in the other BLs there were tags with their raid of 20-50 guild members fighting each other.
  21. Can we go back to being honest with ourselves? If we buy a skin, it is not to support the company but because we want that skin. 🙂 I mean it's not that im buying a bank expansion tab after thinking that maybe "Bob" @ arenanet needs to buy the grocery... lol
